Värmekollektor in Sunne is a company whose main occupation is to collect the gas produced inlandfills. The gas contains about 50 % of Methane which is a greenhouse gas 20 times worse than CO2and should therefore not be allowed to leak into the atmosphere. The Methane is in as large amount aspossible used in different plants for example heating of households. But there are occasions when aflare is needed to burn the excess gas at standstills or testing of new landfills. The Flare only burns themethane to reduce the hazarder?s effect of the environment, it does not take advantage of the energy inthe gasThe goal of this master thesis was for me to create a foundation for an in-house production offlares for Värmekollektor. There was a desire to be able to manufacture there own flares so that costscould be reduced and the performance of the flares controlled.The target was that in the end present all drawings needed for the manufacturing and to achievethis research had to be shortened. There was no time to create the perfect flare. The flares presented inthis report could be seen as a first step in a development process. No testing of the burners has beendone to confirm there behavior and therefore no guaranties can be made regarding the performance ofthe flares. The two flares are similar to each other and they share many components. What separatethem are the principals of the burners. One is equipped with burner tubes and the other uses acombustion chamber with swirl.The result is two dark flares that hopefully meet the demands set upon it and two burners thateasily can be adjusted to fit open flares.
