Kartläggning och effektivisering av ljuddämparflöde

In 2013 a new emission standard for heavy trucks was introduced and hence a number of new parts was brought in to Scania CV AB. This created a need for modifications in the silencers flow. The flow is highly complex involving several suppliers, call off methods and different models of silencers. The aim for this project was to improve the existing silencers flow. The flow, from supplier to assembling, has therefore been mapped. In order to identify types of waste in the existing flow, a detailed situation analysis was carried out through interviews and observations. This was supplemented with internal documents as position standards and layouts. Three suggestions for improvement were formulated with support from existing theories to improve the identified wastes. The goal was to develop improvements making the silencers flow more effective while maintaining good ergonomics and zero defects. Suggestion 1 requires a modification in the current work processes due to a change in the agreements of loading the trailer. To enable the reduction of work processes the suppliers are given a greater responsibility in delivering the silencers in correct order. As a result two of current needed positions are eliminated in addition to a reduction of required storage and handling. Suggestion 2 has been created by the current conditions. This include a more effective work process where good quality is higher prioritised than cost reductions, which results in eliminating one position. Suggestion 3 modifies the distribution in call off methods, so that only one call off method is used for the most problematic model. This reduces the complexity of the flow and eliminate two positions. Suggestion 3 results in the biggest savings, 838 827 Swedish crowns, which amount to half the current annual cost.
