Gruppens betydelse för inlärning

In today?s individualistic society, I experience a need to bring forward the importance of collaboration. From a sociocultural perspective, I have chosen to highlight the positive and negative aspects of collaborative learning, with the intention of illustrating the effects for the individual learning and development. I have therefore made an interview with an educationalist, who?s been a teacher all her grown up life, with the intent of illustrating her thoughts on collaborative learning. The interview is made as an oral history, which gives a strong depiction of the culture she lives in. Through my analysis, I can interpret how the educationalists role changes with the steering documents, which are strongly influenced by the culture they?re made in. The educationalist, called Barbro in the interview, tells about today?s individualistic pupils, her work methods with getting them all to a safe group, and why she feels so strongly for just that work method. When I join the interview analysis with the literature I?ve used, I can see that the negative aspects of collaborative learning are that it?s not always fruitful for the individual to collaborate with others. The educationalist should have a very structured way of teaching, and be devoted to its methods of work. A lot of the time spent in groups, also tend to fall into individual work. Even though, I perceive the positive aspects to outweigh the negative. Collaborative learning creates a stronger confidence in every attending individual, as they dare to take part of the group with the knowledge of not feeling unsecure or being put down. This also creates a sense of security, which then leads to giving the pupil a positive identity. The classmates get a rewarding climate in the classroom, where everybody can be themselves, and that climate also creates positive learning and development.
