Förutsättning och fördelar att införa kvalitetsledningssystem enligt ISO 9001
The ISO 9000-series is a set of quality standards created by the International Organization for Standardization. The series is intended to provide guidance to companies in the process of deploying an effective quality management system. The series includes the requirements standard ISO 9001. This standard contains requirements on how a quality management system should be designed and how companies generally must work with quality issues. When a quality management system is introduced, if wanted, a quality certification can be implemented. In some industries, this is necessary in order to do business with other companies or suppliers. The main advantages of a quality management system based upon ISO 9001 are process orientation and focus on the customers needs and demands. ISO 9001 is also recognized as an effective standard and today there are over 4500 companies in Sweden who are certified.Blixtvik AB is an Internet service provider in the broadband industry. The company delivers broadband services to private customers, small and medium enterprises and housing associations. As the competition in the market intensifies and customer demands increase, the need for improved internal efficiency becomes a major priority. Because of this, Blixtvik AB has requested an investigation of whether a quality management system based upon ISO 9001 would increase efficiency and generate business value. One of the main tasks in this thesis has been to provide a report of Blixtvik AB?s current business situation. To do this, mapping of Blixtvik AB?s business processes were necessary. To widen the scope further considering pros and cons related to ISO 9001, an industry survey were performed.The results obtained in this thesis have been clear and straightforward. First, the need of a quality certification could not be justified, mainly due to the lack of internal or external demands. Secondly, a number of areas within Blixtvik AB have been identified suggesting that changes are necessary to implement a quality management system based upon ISO 9001. However, there are good possibilities for continued work on process orientation. The process maps developed in this thesis are also a good basis for future improvements. The conclusion of this thesis is that Blixtvik AB most definitely would benefit from a quality management system based upon ISO 9001.
