En studie om gymnasieelevers upplevelse av modersmålsundervisning

In this study I?ve examined bilingual high-school students? experiences of their education held in their native language. The purpose of this study is to examine bilingual high-school students? experiences of how their school organizes the education that?s held in their native language, and how the students feel that the education in their native language has helped their overall language development and also in terms of learning in general. To complete this study I?ve interviewed six high school students and analyzed their answers using other studies and theories on this subject. These are theories on additive bilingualism and how the native language can be used as support during the acquisition of a second language. The results of this study shows that the interviewed students views on how the education in their native language is organized is very much alike, and this result resembles the results of earlier studies in this field. The majority of students doesn?t feel like the education in their native language has helped their overall learning, but instead, they feel that it has helped the development of their second language. The students also feel like the education in their native language is not integrated in their overall schooling. The conclusion of this study is that bilingual students needs to be made aware of the benefits of a well-developed first language and how this can help their development of their second language.
