Design och utveckling av kommersielltbabypaket för blivande föräldrar

This project is implemented as a thesis at the Royal Institute of Technology in the master?s degree program Integrated Product Design and Industrial Design Engineering. The project has involved development and efficiency of a free starter package for expectant parents with useful content consisting of useful products for both before and after childbirth. Areas that have been investigated include packaging development, service design and appropriate content for the package.During the work, theory about packaging design, materials, manufacturing techniques and logistics have been processed to base the further work on. The project process has involved competitor analysis and interviews with store owners and customer surveys, that have been conducted to identify areas for improvement of the current solution. Based on qualitative and quantitative studies requirement specifications have been drawn up to define the requirements that the end product should meet. Tactile tests have been conducted to obtain subjective opinions about what users consider attractive with different packaging materials. Based on results from the initial phase concepts to the various areas of development have been elaborated. The final concepts and ideas about packaging, content, service and handling of the package was presented to Babyproffsen and discussed together with the client to develop this result to a suitable end product. As a partial result of the project has a test series of the packaging been manufactured.The developed end product, BabySetGo is a new free baby starter kit developed for Babyproffsen and is primarily targeted to the pregnant mother and the expected child. The package will be issued by Babyproffsen together with its suppliers to introduce the customer to Babyproffsens selection of brands and products and to build up a good customer relationship. The content to be offered in BabySetGo consists of carefully selected products and offers that are relevant and useful in connection with pregnancy and near term after the child is born. To reinforce the positive experience of the package contents, the package has been shaped towards an attractive and appealing expression. The packaging and the contents are sent from Babyproffsens central warehouse to stores where assembly and packing is done and then given out to the customer.A calculation has been developed to present the cost and a revenue accounting for how feasible the product is. For this calculation it is estimated that the product, during the first year, is given out to 50.000 consumers but a goal to the following year is that the product will be given out in a quantity of 85.000 items.
