en studie av ett folkbiblioteks besökare
Varför ökar antalet besök på folkbiblioteken medan antalet lån minskar? Syftet med den här undersökningen är att studera vad besökarna gör på Luleå folkbiblioteks huvudbibliotek och hur de betraktar sitt bibliotek. Frågeställningarna är: ? Vad gör besökarna på biblioteket förutom att låna böcker, tidningar och AV-medier? ? Hur betraktar besökarna på Luleå folkbibliotek sitt bibliotek? ? Vilka är det som besöker biblioteket? ? Hur är miljön på biblioteket och vilken inverkan har den på biblioteksbesökarna? ? Är biblioteket också en plats som lockar till sig andra besökare än de som söker det som förknippas med biblioteksverksamhet? För att kunna besvara frågeställningarna har en observationsundersökning och en enkätundersökning gjorts. I analysen har några begrepp från Bourdieu använts. Att strosa omkring, studera, läsa e-mail, vänta och prata i mobiltelefon var några av de saker besökarna ägnade sig åt. De flesta tycker att biblioteket är viktigt eller mycket viktigt för dem och att utbudet är bra, förutom av datorer. Biblioteket skulle dock behöva vara lite större för att rymma alla aktiviteter och fylla alla behov. English summary: Why do the numbers of library visitors? increase while the number of loans decrease? The purpose with this investigation is to study what the visitors of the main public library of Luleå do there and how they apprehend their library. The questions at issue are: One: What do the visitors do at the library besides loaning literature, magazines and other media? Two: How do the visitors apprehend their library? Three: Who are the library visitors? Four: What dos the library environment look like and how does it affect the visitors? And five: Do the library also attract visitors other then those who look for the activities that are usually associated with libraries? To be able to answer the questions observations and one opinion poll has been done. For the analysis some concepts from Bourdieu were used. To stroll around, study, read e-mail, wait and use a cellular phone are some of the things that the visitors do. Most of them think that the library is important or very important to them and also that the supply is good, except of computers. The library should be a bit bigger though to fit all the activities and to fit all needs.
