Analys och organisering av ö-drift för en samförbränningsstation vid Åmotsfors bruk
Åmotfors Bruk AB (ÅBAB) has today an inefficient production of steam for the
manufacturing of paper. Unpredictable energy prices and modernisation of the current
equipment has been the underlying factors to invest in a thermal power plant, mainly
driven by garbage. This facility will not only use the steam for paper production, it will
also generate electricity through a steam turbine. Today, when a fault on the supplying
line occurs which leads to disconnection of the external grid, all the support of electricity
to Åmotfors Bruk (ÅB) will disappear. This will lead to major interruptions in the paper
production, which will cause severe economical losses. If the power plant can be operated
in island operation it would lead to a reduction of these interruptions.
The assignment has been to organize the different machines in the paper mill during
island operation so that the generator can work in a desirable and optimal way. These
machines are mainly pumps and compressors that are used for the support of freshwater
and during potential fires. Lighting in the facilities has also been a priority during island
operation.
To enter island operation manually the breaker between the system and the island will be
opened by the operator. An automatic connection occurs when there is a failure in the
external grid, the breaker will then open automatically. In the case of a manually
connected island, the desired power production in the island will be 2.76 MW. If an
automatic connection occurs, the desired power will be 1.87 MW.
The obtained results were very satisfactory in comparison with the expectations. The
island frequency became stable at a deviation of around 0.2 % from its nominal value at
worst, and the voltage always stabilized at 1 p.u. Some values during the oscillations
were measured above these limitations, but the extreme values were at all times
reasonable.
