Akustisk trädgårdskonst
att ge sonisk karaktär åt en plats
Ljud och trädgård är kanske inte det första par man tänker sig som gifta men de tus
historia kan spåras längre tillbaka i tiden än man kan föreställa sig. När jag bestämde
mig för att skriva min kandidatuppsats om akustisk trädgårdskonst trodde jag att
ljudinstallationer i trädgårdar och parker var ett nytt fenomen. En helt ny värld
öppnade sig framför mina ögon då jag insåg att så inte var fallet. Konstgjorda
ljudkällor, såsom gyllene fåglar och vattenorglar, har kommit och gått genom tiderna
medan naturliga ljud, såsom vind och fågelsång, bestått. När det kommer till vår
egen tid är trädgårdsljud, även om moderna material och tankesätt används, en
konstform som starkt präglas och inspireras av sin historia.
Du kan skapa olika sorters ljudmiljöer i din trädgård beroende på vad du väljer att
använda för material. Olika markunderlag, såsom trä, keramik, betong och sten, ger
ifrån sig olika genklang då du går på dem. Vidare påverkar också ditt växtval
ljudmiljön i trädgården då vinden drar sin hand genom bladverket.
Med ljud i fokus kan landskapsarkitekten skapa nya dimensioner i sin gestaltning.
Med denna uppsats vill jag ge exempel på hur man använt ljudelement som
upplevelseförstärkning i trädgårdar genom historien och hur man med inspiration
från dessa kan skapa ljudrum i trädgårdar och på platser idag.
Sound and garden may not be the first couple to marry, but the history of the two
goes further back in time than one could imagine. When I decided to write my
bachelor essay about acoustic garden art I thought that sound installations in gardens
and parks was a new phenomenon. A whole new world grew up in front of my eyes
when I realized that this was not the case. Artificial sources of sound, like golden
birds and water organs, has come and gone throughout the history, while natural
sources of sound, like wind and birdcalls, has remained the same. When it comes to
our own time, gardensound is an artform highly imprinted and inspired by its own
history, even though modern materials and minds are used.
You can create different sound environments depending on what materials you
choose for the garden. Different pavings, like wood, ceramics, concrete and stone,
creates different resounds when you walk on them. Furthermore your choice of
plants affects the sound environment when the wind sweeps through the foliage.
With a focus on sound, the landscape architect can create new dimensions in her
shaping of places. With this essay I want to give examples of sound elements as
amplifications of the experience of places throughout our history. Further on I want
to give hints for the modern useage of sounds in gardens and in places with
inspiration from the historical examples.
