keywordsThis was a project about the process of animation and the presentation of looped animations in the form of a Zine.My main subject for the project was to explore the possibilities of the computer program After Effects and how to incorporate the functions of this program with my hand drawn technique. I wanted to keep the hand drawn feeling and at the same time make use of all the helpful short cuts and utilities that this program had to offer. I found that this program was quite suitable for this kind of work, although I didn?t feel completely satisfied when it came to the amount of animations that I was able to put together. At the end of the project I had completed six loops (plus a older one) for the CD that came with the printed Zine.Another big issue in working with this was the question of theme and content for all the different loops.

Nick Couldry beskriver hur symbolisk makt i samtida medierade samhällen framförallt koncentreras till olika medieinstitutioner. Att producera sina egna medier, såsom Clemencia Rodriguez beskriver i Fissures in the mediascape, blir ett sätt att göra motstånd mot denna symboliska makt. Jag har i den här studien utfört kvalitativa intervjuer med ett antal producenter av feministiska Zine och undersökt hur deras arbete med Zinen förhåller sig till Rodriguez teori om medborgarmedier. Analysen har gjorts utifrån följande frågeställningar: Vad har de studerade producenterna av Zine för syfte och drivkraft med sitt arbete? Hur kan de förstås som politiska subjekt och deras arbete som politisk agens? Kan dessa Zine betraktas som medborgarmedier och platser för symboliskt motstånd? På vilket sätt förhåller sig dessa Zine till de maktförhållanden de är inbegripna i? Hur kan Zinens avmystifiering av mediet (tryckta medier) förstås som feministisk strategi? Hur kan produktionens fragmenterade struktur förstås mot bakgrund av Rodriguez teori om medborgarmedier?Den politiska kampen handlar lika mycket om en kamp om kulturella koder som krav på rättigheter.

The purpose of this masters thesis is to examine the fanZine, a form of amateur publication, in Sweden, both in the traditional paper form and the more recent electronic form. It deals with what is distinctive about the fanZine as a publication and also as a social and cultural product. It also looks upon how the fanZine uses the Internet and the new possibilities it brings. The people behind 18 fanZines, 10 electronic and 8 in paper, have answered a questionnaire about how they produce, publish, distribute and promote their fanZines, what they think about the fanZine as a mode of expression, and how they use the Internet. The masters thesis uses theories within cultural studies as a theoretical approach to the fanZine.
