The purpose of this article is to explore the technologies of government that are created within gender disorder assessments as an institution. I have done so by utilizing Norman Faircloughs discourse analysing instrument ?communicative action?, which focus on the social institution as relational.The material is strategically chosen by gathering texts from the Swedish state, the psychiatric clinics, NGO:s and by performing interviews with Transsexual patients.When analysing the communication of the main agents, I have concluded that practices highly are a result of repeating text and speech inside the institution. The psychiatric assessments can also be seen as an illustration in changes in how citizens are governed in advanced liberal societies, where the role of the state has been gradually reduced in favour of other agents.I consider that the change illustrates an ?acting at a distance?-mentality where the patient is introduced to participate in the definition of the care in what I call ?negotiation as a technology?.

This thesis examines the gender boundaries in sports. I do this by exploring three cases in which these boundaries, at least on the surface, have been questioned: the Transsexual tennis player Renée Richards, the east European runners Marita Koch and Jarmila Kratochvilova and the Swedish golf player Annika Sörenstam. The results point out different mechanisms that contain the"danger"and restore"security". But they also point out a criticism against the struggle for equality in sports, which is based on the preserving of differences and therefore cannot challenge the ideological assumptions about gender in sports..

The aim of this study was to explore Transsexuals? identity formation and experiences related to cross-sex hormone treatment, as well as to become absorbed in the narrative approach. To be able to participate in Transsexuals? identity formation, life stories were well suited as a theoretical approach. Life stories can be seen as socially situated actions according to Mishler, where individuals? identity formation can be seen as both identity performances and identity claims.

The aim of this study is to look at censorship and attempted censorship of books about gay, lesbian, bisexual and Transsexual (GLBT) people in public libraries in the USA. People from the public can submit formal challenges to a book at the library when they find the material offensive which can lead to those books being taken away from the library shelves. The questions asked are why GLBT- literature is being challenged, and sometimes banned, and how do the libraries deal with the challenges to the books.It is nowadays the people from the public, rather than the government or the librarians that are behind many cases of removal of books with homosexual themes. The study presents some of the fictional GLBT- literature that has been cause for much controversy in the USA. All the five examples mentioned are children?s books concerning GLBT- themes and are among the most challenged books in American libraries in the past twenty years.

Denna uppsats undersöker hur transsexuella individer gestaltas på den amatörinternetpornaografiska webbsidan XVIDEOS - den största internetpornografiska webbsidan. Vi har tittat på hur XVIDEOS som webbsida är med i denna gestaltning och process och hur XVIDEOS och dess innehåll återger en bild av vad den transsexuella kroppen - och sexualiteten förväntas vara. Vi tittar på det här framförallt i filmsekvenser som hittas på webbsidan, men också i hur webbsidan i sig kategoriserar och bidrar till konstruktionen. Vi ämnar inte att stämpla vad som är korrekt eller inte, utan snarare att analysera material för att ge klarhet i ämnet.

Sammanfattning/abstractBakgrund: En transsexuell person upplever sig tillhöra det motsatta könet och vill oftast korrigera sin kropp genom hormonbehandling och kirurgi så att den stämmer överens med det kön som personen identifierar sig med. Enligt den vårdvetenskapliga livsvärldsteorin är en människas kropp inte bara säte för hennes upplevelser utan också för hennes identitet. Genom kroppens sinnen skapar man en bild av sig själv och sin omvärld. Detta medför att om kroppen förändras, förändras även identiteten och tillgången till världen. Kunskapen om transsexuella personer hos personal inom hälso- och sjukvården är mycket bristfällig.
