In everyday life we perform motor behaviours that have no apparent instrumental function. Are these correlated to Sensation seeking and do they differ depending on what situations we are in? University students in Örebro (N=108), participated in the study. The participants were asked to fill out a double questionnaire containing the Sensation seeking scale and another one for measuring non-productive motor behaviours. The non-productive motor behaviours were not correlated to the Sensation seeking scale.

Är dykare spänningssökare? Är män mer spänningssökande än kvinnor? 51 dykare, 27 män och 24 kvinnor, läts fylla i enkäten Sensation seeking scale version 5 (SSS-V). Sensation seeking scale har utvecklats av Marvin Zuckerman med kollegor sedan 1960-talet och mäter graden av spänningssökande personlighetsdrag, på engelska: Sensation seeking. Enkäten har visat sig valid på flera hundra studier men har bara testats på dykare ett fåtal gånger. Hypoteserna är att dykare är mer spänningssökande än normalpopulationen (H1) och att dykande män är mer spänningssökande än dykande kvinnor (H2).

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to examine the relationship between job satisfaction, birth order and Sensation seeking. The sample consisted of 179 jobholders in four different organizations in southern Sweden, with an average age of 44 years (SD = 12,12). A questionnaire consisting of three parts was used to map out and measure the participants? family background, birth order, job satisfaction and Sensation seeking. The study showed no significant relationship between birth order and job satisfaction (p = 0,127).

Räddningstjänsten är ett yrke där risktagande är en del av vardagen för personalen, det finns många olika faktorer som påverkar hur och varför ett beslut tas före och under en räddningsinsats. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka skillnader i risktagande mellan befattningar inom räddningstjänsten, baserat på faktorer som Sensationssökning och synen på den egna kontrollen av handlingar och dess konsekvenser. Metoden som användes var en webenkät baserad på två validerade tester för att undersöka dessa faktorer; Sensation Seeking Scale samt Locus of Control-test. Sammanlagt deltog 17 stycken respondenter och alla var män, befattningarna varierade mellan brandman, styrkeledare, insatsledare, ställföreträdande räddningschef samt räddningschef. Resultatet visade en signifikant skillnad i Sensationssökning mellan befattningarna där de lägre befattningarna hade störst Sensationssökning.

Är poliser mer spänningssökande än andra? Det är frågan som ligger till grund för studien där syftet är att jämföra poliser med lärare i vilken utsträckning de söker spänning. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av ett frågeformulär bestående av 28 påståenden som kommer ifrån redan vedertagna skalor. The aim of this pilotstudy was to compare the plaqueformation during four weeks in individuals using a mouthrinse containing either essential oils (Listerine Cool Mint) or CPC (Colgate Total) as a complement to their ordinary toothbrushing. Another purpose was to evaluate the individual?s experiences regarding taste and Sensation in the mouth after rinsing. A semiblind, clinical pilotstudy was conducted in 20 individuals at a university in southern Sweden. During the 19th centaury Liverpool was an industrial city of great magnitude owing to the well-established communication and infrastructure in the area. During the 1950?s the industry decrease swiftly - and although Liverpool as a city gain interest as a result of the Sensation of the Merseybeat and The Beatles - the reduction continued through the 70?s and during the 80?s the people of Liverpool suffered from great unemployment. This paper investigates the relations between the fantasy genre and the phenomena of escapism. It also delves into the factors which motivates consumption of various fantasy mediums. This is done through interviews with six different fantasy-consumers, along with two observations; of which one is performed at a science fiction convention and the other at a table-top role playing game. The study resulted in a basic understanding of escapism ? it is not limited to the fantasy genre, and fantasy consumers do not deny that fantasy is a form of escapism.

This study was conducted by using a qualitative textual analysis on UNICEF Sweden?s website with the purpose of problematizing the role of UNICEF Sweden in today?s globalised society. This was done in the context of how organisations of civil society have gained influence. Following questions were answered: How does UNICEF Sweden legitimise its operation? Which strategies does UNICEF Sweden use to encourage involvement and donations?The study shows how UNICEF Sweden legitimises its work by promoting a unique influence, their unique methods of work and by showing how the organisation helps the most disadvantaged children.

The goal with our research has been to describe how often and in what way female athletes are represented in the sport section in Sweden?s biggest evening newspaper Aftonbladet. The material we?ve used are the newspapers that we collected during two weeks in 2008, the 3rd of November to the 9th of November and the 11th of November to the 17th of November. We?ve conduced two qualitative researches ? a text analysis and an image analysis ? and one quantitative analysis on our material.

In printed text, sound is a somewhat forgotten aspect. The recitation of text is vital in areas like poetry and oratory, but still has no distinct technique of being communicated. Emphasis of a word might be expressed through italics, but no canonic character set or system for vocal delivery of texts exists. With this essay we are creating a foundation for a development of such a character set or system. By studying existing visualisations of sound and comparing these with semiotic and perception-based theories we obtain useful insights for a prospective system for visualisations of vocal sounds.We conclude that the aspects of sound one wants to visualise must be carefully defined since the viewer cannot process infinite amounts of information.

The meaning of this study is to see how a suspected murderer is presented in the Swedish newspapers Expressen and Falu Kuriren. We want to see how two Swedish newspapers, a local- and an evening paper, presented Anders Eklund, who killed the ten year old girl Engla Ho?glund in 2008, from the day after her disappearing and almost a month ahead.When we analysis the resolution to the study we could see that both papers presented Anders Eklund like a convicted murderer after he admitted the murder of Engla Ho?glund, even if the court had not sentenced him yet. Even when Anders Eklund was anonymous, you can through the various denominations witch were produced in the papers speculate on who the murderer is.Even that it is a case study, we can see with the previous research tends that a suspected murderer is produced in this way in Swedish newspapers. We could also see that the evening paper where more likely to present Sensation and drama to the texts than the local paper did. .

I have interviewed, observed, photographed, and through living in the commune during shorter periods of time, I have taken part in their every-day life.
