The project has been performed in collaboration with Thule Sweden AB, a global leader in developing safe, simple and elegant solutions for the transportation of various types of equipment. The company has developed a new T-track which is telescopically, they stand mount system to connect the Roof box to the Roof rack does not fit into this. Therefore, the company considered that it was necessary to have a new product that meets the requirements of the new Roof rack. They wanted a new, smarter solution would be developed. The bulk of this essay has been to find a new concept to connect the Roof box to the Roof racks. The result is a saxkonstruktion that slides down the Roof rack T-profile and protected out of a puck-like housing. The product is small, simple and elegant solution.

The building that is examined in the report is currently under construction, and the Roof construction has already been selected. The selected Roof system will therefore be compared with some other structures and materials that have been possible. The report will evaluate three different frame materials, two insulating barriers and two overlaying materials. Another important part in major construction projects is the Roof safety.

The background to this final thesis is that our mandator, A-hus, was interested to examine which Roof system that would be most appropriate to their types of houses. To investigate this, we first conducted an evaluation of the most commonly used Roof systems in Sweden today: decking, board, Roof cloth and prefabricated Roof cassettes.To gather information about the different systems we have conducted interviews with several professionals within the construction industry, done an extensive literature study, and gathered information from the Internet.Based on the evaluation of Roof systems and the literature, we analyzed advantages and disadvantages of the Roof systems from three main perspectives: system characteristics, economics and other characteristics. We found these perspectives to be the most relevant when selecting a Roof system.The main perspectives comprise three categories which are graded. These grades are then added together for a score for each main perspective and a total score for the three main perspectives. Then we compared the systems and, based on the scores, suggested one Roof system as the most suitable for A-hus.Our result suggests that the prefabricated Roof cassettes probably is the best solution for A-hus, but only if it is possible to standardize the cassettes and still maintain the flexibility to match A-hus? house types.

In a city sometimes conflicts arise between either to save the species-rich vacant lots where many species thrive, or to build new buildings. Green Roofs can then serve as a refuge for plants and animals that have had their natural habitat destroyed or diminished. Today we know too little about green Roofs contribution to the biodiversity in the cities. We also know very little about how various types of vegetation on Roof can increase biodiversity and its ability to attract different species.The aim with this study was to examine how different types of vegetation on the Roofs affect the biodiversity of the invertebrate and how species-composition and number of individuals differ between the Roof- and groundlevel.This study has been carried out on Augustenborg Botanical Roof Gardens in Malmo, and in an area about 1.5 kilometers away from Augustenborg. Three different types of vegetation on the Roof and ground floor were selected: sedum- ruderal and grass.

The City of Stockholm has decided to invest in renewable energy and especially in photovoltaics. The objective of this thesis is to investigate the photovoltaic potential on Roof areas that the city possesses and to further investigate some buildings of the Property Management Department. The thesis also compares some existing photovoltaic plants with the solar irradiance map which shows available Roof area on each building in Stockholm. The report ends with a literature study about the climate impact and greenhouse gas emissions of photovoltaic.The total available Roof area suitable for photovoltaic plants is estimated to 700 000 m2, with a potential electricity production of 110 GWh per year. This corresponds to 17 % of the City of Stockholm?s yearly electricity consumption.

The purpose with this report is to illuminate the construction solutions and the deformations that could exist in medieval parish stone churches. But also to increase the writers understanding how activity forces effect the construction of the churches. With help from literature and a practical study, containing three churches the writers have collected the material that the conclusions and discussions are built upon in this report. The construction of the churches consists of three parts, the wall, the Roof and the vault. The construction solutions are similar in the churches disregard of the Roof, where the Roof trusses are different.

Standardisering av snöröjningsplan : Instruktioner, råd och tips för snöröjning av tak med stora spännvidder

The Swedish winters 2009/10 and 2010/11 were rich in snow and many Roofs collapsed, mainly largespan frames. Investigations were made and the amount of snow was not the primary cause, insteadthere were several other causes. One of these was that in some cases Roofs were shoveled in anunfavorable manner which affected the load patterns negatively, so causing the Roofs to collapse.Most people lack the knowledge of how shoveling will affect the Roof. Had there been an increasedunderstanding regarding shoveling, some Roofs could have been prevented from collapsing.Through both qualitative and quantitative research in the form of interviews and calculations thetheoretically best ways to shovel a selection of Roof types is presented in the report. Today´s Roofing of dwelling houses is a very time consuming procedure, which includes a lot of different steps on the construction site. Not only does it cost a lot of money, but often do problems with rot and mold occur in the attics of houses today. The use of prefabricated modules has seen a great breakthrough in the field of construction of dwelling houses; at least when it comes to foundations and walls, where this type of approach makes the construction process way more efficient. What no one previous has succeeded to develop is a corresponding system for Roofs that meets the demands of a dwelling house. Accordingly the goal of PlusTak has been to come up with a proper module system for Roofing of dwelling houses, where the Roofing is completed to meet the demands of the Scandinavian market. During the project a lot of effort has been put into customer contacts and the usability of the product, as well in the manufacturing process as on the construction site. This development has gone hand in hand with several practical tests and tryouts.

Green Roofs have seen a revival in the society of today. They provide many functions of which both society as a whole and the individual can take part. In particular extensive green Roofs, that requires little or even zero maintenance, provides very valuable functions. Green Roofs affect our environment and our economy in a positive manner as well as the physical expression of buildings. In this bachelor thesis the impact of green Roofs on society has been examined throughout literature studies. The result as a compilation of contemporary research in this field is presented together with a discussion about the use of green Roofs in general. The two major arguments for an extended use of green Roofs are, the high stormwater retention capacity and the cost-benefits seen over time compared to a conventional Roof.

The popularity of vegetated, or green Roofs, has grown over the past years due to their potential function of maintaining urban environment quality. The aim of this study was to investigate if substrates with different organic material, peat and charcoal, with two contents (3 or 6 weight%) influenced the growth of the cuttings during the first critical period of the establishment. Biochar is used as amendment to agricultural soils and has, theoretically, many of the properties suitable as organic content in green Roof-substrates. Peat is one of the materials that is commercially used in green Roof industry. The substrate has been treated with different amounts of water.
