In the prison of Kumla, Sweden`s highest security classified institution, spiritual Retreats are pursued since 2001. The aim is to offer the inmates a possibility to enter deeply into spiritual contemplation. This spiritual contemplation is made possible through the fact that the prisoners carry out a Retreat designed after guidelines written by Ignatius of Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. The purpose of this examination is to study how ordinary institutional life in comparison to monastic life defines and creates different attitudes and roles amongst the inmates. A secondary aim is to describe the consequences of the Retreat on individual basis.

Syftet med undersökningen har varit att undersöka om positiva förändringar och inre resurser utvecklas för intagna under en 30 dagars Ignatiansk klosterRetreat på en av Sveriges högsäkerhetsanstalter. Deltagarna var dömda män i åldrarna 23 ? 55 år med straff på fyra år till livstid.Studien har tillämpat en kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer av deltagare och personal, observationer och dokumentanalyser. För ytterligare djuplodande kunskaper och information har studien också använt sig av ett autoetnografiskt perspektiv för att undersöka upplevelser och förändringsprocesser från Retreaten.Resultaten påvisade att deltagarna utvecklat och förstärkt inre resurser, som emotionell kompetens, inre styrka och en positiv andlig utveckling. Resurserna har vidare legat till grund för den positiva posttraumatiska personlighetsutveckling deltagarna uppvisade.Slutsatserna i studien är att deltagarna erhåller en ökad positiv framtidstro och ökad reflektion över värderingar och vad som är viktigt i deras liv.

Ett växande problem i dagens urbana samhälle är stressrelaterade sjukdomar och utmattningssyndrom. Den psykiska ohälsan är ett folkhälsoproblem som medför lidande hos individen och kostnader både för den drabbade och för samhället. En behandlingsmetod som under senare år blivit vanligare vid rehabilitering av psykisk ohälsa är trädgårdsterapi. Metoden grundar sig i det faktum att människor återhämtar sig fortare vid vistelse i natur- och grönområden. Inom fältet trädgårdsterapi fi nns olika skolor som förklarar naturens välgörande egenskaper med olika utgångspunkt. Vid Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet i Alnarp har en egen form av trädgårdsterapi utarbetats som baseras på forskning av professor och miljöpsykolog Patrik Grahn.

I dagens samhälle, med ett ständigt överflöd på intryck, upplevelser och materiella värden,växer behovet av rum för stillhet, kontemplation och andlighet: rum oberoende av religiösoch kulturell bakgrund, där man fri från yttre krav kan återfå kontakten med sig själv.Frågeställningarna har varit: Vad kännetecknar ett rum för själen? och Vad gör ett rumandligt? Inspirerad av sakrala rumsligheter och japansk rumsuppfattning har jag skapatimaginära vilorum för själen i min hemtrakt i Österbotten, Finland. Ett glaskapell för själsligodling och ett anspråkslöst härbärge där vilan, badet och måltiden gestaltats som själsligaritualer. I en enkel tillvaro utan överflödiga intryck, blir tanken klarare och det väsentligaframträder. Med naturen som enda sällskap får livet nya proportioner.

The aim of this report is to describe the deglaciation in an area on west Greenland in the vicinity of Kangerlussuaq. To do this, the geomorphological landforms were mapped by studying areal photographs and by a two week field study where key areas were examiend. The landforms were transferred to a map using ArcGis and each key area were interpreted.The majority of the geomorphological formations were formed during the last deglaciation and consists of morain ridges, kettle topography in both till and glacifluvium, glacifluvial deltas, two fossil sandurs, and lateral terraces. Based on key areas and an inversion model a geomorphological map was created to illustrate the deglaciation, using the least complex explanation of the genesis of the landforms. The results show that the ice played a major role by damming lakes which enabled formation of many meltwater chanels and delta formations on higher elevations.

Zoos currently aim at keeping animals in as natural habitats as possible, since they havegone from displaying exotic animals to working with conservation of endangered species.It is therefore more common that zoos keep groups composed of two or more species in thesame enclosure. The aim of this report is to study why and how different species are held atzoos. Species in the wild can interact in different degrees depending on season andresources. When species are held together at zoos the space can be more effectively used,the animals increase their activity and the visitors increase their learning. Mixed speciesenclosures involve more work and risks of injury.

The sites I visit turned into routines a long time ago. Everywhere someone has decided what should be there and what will not fit. I Retreat into my daydreams, away from everyday life. A longing for something different, something wonderful. I decided to go where I've never been, searching for something unknown.

Based on 30 years of work experience in TV and film production, I have made a phenomenological analysis of my perception of meaning in work - how it arises and how it is undermined. The story starts in my experience of early professional film making in the 1980's and describes how a change to work in TV production required the development of a new professional identity. The text also illustrates how as a female director I have managed my role in a male dominated and structured work environment. Being defined as an exception from the male norm has pushed me towards femininist reflection and the need to redefine my own work role - the generally accepted view having felt uncomfortable. An analysis of structural change in TV and film production shows how market pressures and ways of thought have increasingly invaded cultural endeavour. Professional spheres of influence are weakened, while developments in the media are characterised by a commercialism which encroaches more and more upon artistic, spiritual and moral values. This attitude, where quality is in Retreat, has transformedprogramme makers from creative originators into becoming suppliers of raw material in a factory- like process geared to produce great volume at low cost.The aim of this essay is to show how changes in society and in TV and film making have affected my perception of my work.

The aim of this study is to analyze how individuals experience their eating disorder, the focus being if anorexia may be perceived as a secure safe zone in the new modern world. The aim is to examine if individuals affected with anorexia nervosa understand the disorder as a solution to the modern worlds changes and the new individual freedom that it entails. This will be analyzed with the help of terms in Erich Fromms theories about escape mechanisms and Catarina Kinnvalls theories about the modern worlds ontological insecurity.The study is based on data collected from four informants of different ages and gender. The interviews were conducted through email and informants were chosen based on a strategic selection and snowball sampling. For the analysis of the empirical material Fromms escape mechanisms (authoritarianism, destructiveness and automaton conformity) and Kinnvalls theories of identity in the modern world have been used.The results of the analysis show that the eating disorder has a great significance for the individual construction and maintenance of identity and that the eating disorder becomes a safe zone to Retreat to in a world of performance anxiety.

The climate changes and the global warming have a great impact on the Arctic environments. This partially depends on that the albedo is getting lower when snow and ice is melting and exposes more and more dark surfaces of the land and sea. This leads to a feedback effect; the melting accelerates because dark surfaces attract more sun radiation. Because of the heating the glaciers in Arctic Retreat. The purpose of this report is to obtain an eventual change in elevation on the glacier Lomonosovfonna that is located on Svalbard by comparing elevation data collected by NASA and GPS data from 1996-2012.

This study contains the search of knowledge about the deacons of the Swedish church, if they actually feel an increasing pressure and in what way, how they are handling the possible pressure from people in need, if that pressure is too high and if the deacons feel that they can assist the people seeking their help. The study also aim to provide more knowledge about the deacons experiences of the opportunities and boundaries (or obstacles) they meet in their line of work and how they handle the boundaries when/if they can?t provide the help that the people need.

In my work as family counselor I have long seen a pattern with many of the couples I?ve met. Thepattern consists of a movement where one person take an offensive, accusing and sometimeschasing position, whilst the other person is on the Retreat. Over and over again I?ve made theexperience that if you help them solve a single problem another one pops up.
