The subject of this master thesis concerns the area of change in libraries, with special orientation towards Privatisation. Its aim is to investigate how Privatisation is portrayed in one of Sweden?s largest library magazines, Biblioteksbladet, in order to gain insight into why these portrayals are what they are, and what consequences they might get. Three theoretical viewpoints create the general base of the thesis; first, Fairclough?s critical discourse analysis (CDA) theory on the relations between text and society; second, Audunsson?s theory concerning how change is dealt with in public libraries; and third, a conceptual framework on Privatisation consisting of definitions and perspectives of the phenomenon.

This masters thesis is a study of official political documents in order to discuss Privatisation and the Swedish public libraries. In the 1990s public libraries became placed on contractors, and that was said to be one form of Privatisation. The main issue for this study concerns driving forces and obstacles for Privatisation of public libraries. Another issue concerns advantages and risks. We will also discuss how the future of public libraries will be in this context.

The purpose of this article is to examine issues concerning quality assurance in the Swedish family counselling. To obtain the purpose following factors have been analysed: what kind of requirements/criteria are put on the companies/practitioners, what the respondents think about the lack of common standards and criteria and their opinions concerning ?Lagen om valfrihetssystemet?. Monitoring of criteria, Privatisation and increased competition are other factors that have been analyzed. The material was obtained from the family counsellors own association and was analyzed in the light of previous research and theories regarding the quality of family counselling however we also considered theories about quality within social work in general.

The purpose of this essay is to illustrate the debate of water politics and Privatisation of water distribution. My method is debate analysis and qualitative idea analysis and for my essay I used three books that try to persuade the reader that his or her idea is the best for this water crisis. My main question is to illustrate the debate concerning water Privatisations. I will also look at the arguments for or against Privatisations and finally determine how the authors think the state should act towards this subject. The first book I used was Vandana Shivas ?Water Wars? that when published started an international discussion about the water Privatisations.

The purpose of this paper is to perform an in-depth analysis of how New Public Management reforms have impacted management practises in two publicly financed elderly care providers in Sweden. The paper studies one public and one private elderly care provider and analyses to what extent they have implemented New Public Management methods. The results are based on interviews with several persons within the two organisations and analysed using the seven New Public Management doctrines as described by Christopher Hood (1991; 1995). The major finding in the thesis is that the level of exposure towards New Public Management reforms differs between the two studied organisations where the private provider is exposed to the reforms to a greater extent than the public. The paper concludes that the main reasons for the low extent of exposure in the public provider could be attributed to the lack of measurable standards performance as well as the proximity to the political leadership..

In 1995, the World Trade Organization WTO was established. Today WTO has nearly 150 member countries, accounting for over 97 percent of the world trade. WTO has a number of agreements and one of them is the General Agreement on Trade in Services GATS. GATS control the service sector, and the public library is a small part of this sector. The purpose of this study is to examine the Swedish debate about GATSs possibility to affect the public library.

The main purpose of this thesis is to analyse the possibilities and problems facing a privatised work injury insurance. This discussion includes the element of premium differentiation. Todays´ Swedish social insurance system is ineffectively formed. The costs have dramatically increased during the 1990´s. The Swedish government is now looking for ways to improve the efficiency of the system.

Sammanfattning För att förhålla sig till en modern och föränderlig omgivning genomgår idag många offentliga verksamheter stora förändringar i sina sätt att styra organisationen. En av de största förändringar som skett är möjligheten för privata aktörer att köpa upp och bedriva verksamheter, något som tidigare bedrivits i kommunal regi. Äldreomsorgen är en av de sektorer som idag står inför stora organisatoriska utmaningar där omsorg ska kombineras med strategier som tidigare främst tillhörde marknaden. Den forskning som har gjorts på området är tvetydig och ger inga klara besked om de effekter som privatiseringen har för varesig personal eller vårdtagare. Vi ville därför undersöka ett privatiserat äldreboende för att studera vilka marknadsmässiga tendenser det kan uppvisa samt hur personalen upplever sin arbetssituation. Uppsatsens resultat visar att äldreboendet har flera marknadsmässiga inslag och att personalen i det stora hela verkar mycket nöjda med sin arbetssituation. Vidare framgår de fördelar en privatisering kan innebära för både anställda och vårdtagare beträffande kvalitet och utbud, men även de svårigheter som uppstår i omsorgsarbetet då omsorg som en relativt oförutsägbar verksamhet inte tillfullo kan anpassas till företagsmässiga visioner och strategier. Nyckelord: Äldreomsorg, privatiseringens effekter, standardisering, individuell omsorg, omsorgspersonal..

ABSTRACT This study consists of a comparison between a public and a private organization that works with people with mental unhealth. The first organization is an authority that conducts investigations to determine if their clients are qualified to receive some sort of help in their daily lives as a part of the Swedish welfare system. The private organization works with offering different kinds of daily activities for people with mental unhealth as a work-training program or to help them create a daily routine in their lives. Our purpose with this paper is to compare the work of the two different organizations based on their organizational framework to see what similarities and differences there are in their work and their chosen approach in meetings with their clients. Our chosen method is that of semi-structured qualitative interviews with three different employees in each organization.

Flera kommunala förvaltningar och andra instanser efterfrågar idag former för hur brukare aktivt kan involveras i skötsel av tätortsnära skog- och naturmarker. Erfarenheter finns, men delgivning av goda exempel och bra referenser är en bristvara. Genom detta examensarbete presenteras en form för hur skötsel av en tätortsnära skogs- och naturmiljö praktiskt kan genomföras tillsammans med de boende i närområdet. Förslaget för samarbetet har utformats via en fallstudie och baseras på intervjuer med boende och förvaltare inom ett avgränsat villaområde i Huskvarna. Studien redogör även för synpunkter och de krav som lyftes fram av respektive part inför samverkanssituationen, dvs. samverkanspotentialen och själva ramen för samverkan.
