This essay focuses upon the Kivik Monument and its conservation difficulties, since its discovery at 1748 until modern time. The Kivik Monument is found in southeast of Scania, and dated within the Bronze Age period. The perspective of the conservation on the Monument has merely been on the Monuments inner cist of stone and the rock carvings on the cist-slabs. When the Monument was first archaeological examined at 1931, its sizeable cairn (75 m in diameter) had almost vanished and the cist was sheltered by a casing of concrete and metal roof. Between 1932 and 1933 the Monument has undergone a large-scale restoration, and this criticized restoration resulted in a low antiquarian value with the responsible authority.

Vindarnas Boning : En studie av monumentalistiskt historiebruk

Monuments are raised all over the world of several different reasons. A Monument dosen´t only refer just to itself, it also tells something about the historical context they are risen into. The overall purpose of this study is to try to reveal how history is used through the process, and rising of the Monument "Vindarnas Boning" in Karlstad, Sweden 16/6, 1967. The historical narrative around this Monument is about to show the importance of the esthetics, the main forces around the Monument and last, how the Monument legitimacy is maintained. Throughout those analytic tools, according to this study, I will try to examine possible other reasons behind this Monument than the official one, who is to act as a remembrance of the finnish immigrants who settled in the unpopulated deep forests of Sweden and enabled to maintain a minor community separated from other influences, during the 16 th century and onward.

This subject of interest in this paper is the ideas expressed and formulated in the making andinauguration of the Branting-Monument at Norra Bantorget in Stockholm. The initiative for a Monument honoring the late Social Democratic leader Hjalmar Brantingwas taken at the Swedish Social Democratic Party Congress in 1928. In 1935 the party board decided to give the task of designing the Monument to the much renowned artist Carl Eldh. A national fund-raising campaign for the Monument was also initiated. In1942 the model of the Monument was completed, but because of the war it was stored in a shelter.

Kr.

This master essay deals with the changes in the use of and the abandonment of the Avebury Monument and the change of the surrounding landscape during the late Neolitihic, about 3000 B.C, and into the Bronze age, about 1500 B.C. The change in the way people supported themselves, the development of agriculture, brought along many other changes as well. I am in this paper dealing with these issues, how and what lead up to these changes, the peoples own part in the development, and I am also looking into the fact that these changes might not have meant an end of old ideologies, but rather a development in the expression of beliefs where the Monuments of the neolithic no longer had a place in society..

Bortom graven : En rumslig studie av Tjustbygdens rösen

Bronze Age cairns have been interpreted as everything from navigation marks to marking liminal places in the landscape. It has also been stated that the main purpose of their location is to be visible. This is something that has been taken for granted. The main problem is the cairns have been considered as a homogenous Monument. With the help of digital methods like GIS it is possible to test this kind of questions in quantitative way.

Boplatsvallar, often translated as semi-subterranean settlements, is an ancient Monument with a diffuse definition. Defined as ?embankments that partially or completely surround a often lowered/dug down surface- this category of ancient Monuments is also made up of a former category which traditionally was interpreted as winter settlements from the late Stone age in Sweden. This view of the ancient Monuments carried over, to a certain extent, to this new definition. Should this be the case, that this category of ancient Monuments are remains of winter settlements,  used recurringly over an extended period of time, then they should exhibit similar signals in regards to the distribution of the anthropogenically altered soil chemical and soil physical properties at the sites. The area around Lillsjön, Anundsjö parish in Ångermanland, have four boplatsvallar located separately in the regional area.

O?land

Ship formed Monuments from the Late Bronze Age on the island of O?land, southeast Sweden, have never been thoroughly dealt with in previous research, despite the fact that the region is suggested to have had a key-role in maritime trade networks. This thesis aims to address the ship formed Monuments on O?land in relationship to the Monuments in northern Sma?land and the island of Gotland. My goal is to discuss how the ship symbolism was practised during the Late Bronze Age in Scandinavia from a new perspective.

Vardagslivets monument : Kulturarv och ombyggnationer i miljonprogramsområdena "Blåkulla" och "Bananhuset"

It is a well known archaeological concern that the remains of human bones left from the bronze age and early iron age Scandinavia are not nearly enough to represent the estimated population of the time. Furthermore the bones of each find rarely represent a whole individual. The majority of the bones must have been disposed of somewhere else, possibly scattered in running waters or in the fields, where they have evaporated or are securely hidden from archaeological excavations. This thesis deals with the grave concept and the problem in using a word that is so very clouded by its modern, western meaning. It also offers an alternative explanation to why the bones are handled the way they are and why they are found in such awkward contexts..
