In this thesis the subject innovation and the change of Meaning is in focus. The purpose of the study is to present a new dimension of innovation as a change of Meaning together with the cases we?ve studied. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to facilitate increased understanding of immigrant's experience of the Meaning of work with focus on how that Meaning can change as a part of the acculturation process. Participants (n=13) from eight countries answered an open question. The responses were analysed using Meaning Construction Analysis (MCA)-Minerva and the individual's life-worlds were made visible and discussed. The themes Meaning of work, work, unemployment, education, adjustment, immigration, Sweden/country of origin, dreams, possibilities and self appeared as jointly shared important aspects. The results indicate that work is of central importance, and although the individuals share certain experiences, the Meaning associated with the themes is of a complex and individual nature..

The aim of the study was to distinguish if there was a difference between how work is perceived and how unemployed are viewed by people in collectivistic and individualistic cultures. A phenomenological approach was used in order to capture the participants life-worlds and their Meaning constitution of a phenomenon, in this case the Meaning of work and how unemployed are viewed. Subjects from different parts of the world, belonging to either a collectivistic or individualistic culture, participated in this study. Data was collected by self-reports which were analyzed by the method of MCA (Meaning Constitution Analysis) and the software Minerva. The results indicated that there were differences in how individuals from collectivistic cultures compared to individuals from individualistic cultures reflected about the Meaning of work.

At two nursing homes for people with dementia a qualitative study was performed. The purpose was to investigate the therapy dog?s Meaning to people with dementia from their perspective. Two women and five men with dementia were interviewed, everyone being somewhere between 60 and 87 years of age. All but one had previously owned a dog at some point in their lives.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the Meaning the reading group of the public library has to a number of users. To fulfill the aim the following three questions have been formulated: 1) What do a number of users expect from the reading group of the public library? 2) Which approach/attitude or approaches/attitudes do a number of users have to reading and to talking about reading? 3) How do a number of users experience the ongoing reading group?The research is founded on qualitative interviews with five users that take part in three different reading groups in public libraries. The theories that are used is the theory of three so called strategies - the pragmatic, the traditionalistic, the emancipatory ? and the theory of flow.

The aim of this study has been to achieve an increased understanding of the Meaning of home for people in homelessness. The study is based on texts written by people in homelessness and a qualitative content analysis has been used to process the material. The result has been analysed with an inductive approach, using parts of the analysis method grounded theory. Three aspects of the Meaning of home was identified in the texts; control, self-determination and independence. The lack of a home means a major limitation concerning these aspects, according to the texts.

The general purpose of this dissertation is to study picture communication in picture books and it addresses the following questions:What is the illustrator?s role in the process of making a picture book? What communicative qualities do pictures have in picture books and how do pictures interact with texts? What methods do illustrators use to visualize the Meaning of stories in picture books?A genre analysis, a literature study and an interview of a professional illustrator has been conducted to answer the questions. I found that all objects that make up pictures, the arrangement, colours and shapes contribute to the Meaning in diverse ways. Pictures also communicate in a different way than texts. An important difference between pictures and texts in the context of picture books is that pictures are more open for interpretation.

In Sweden the voluntary socialwork is a complement to the public authorities. The voluntary organisations has become more important considered helping people in different situations of need.The aim of this study has been to examine the voluntary organisations Meaning for individuals.The aim was reached through interviews by five guests from different organisations. We have also interviewed two employees from the different organisations to find out if there is any differences in their way of work.This study indicates that the organisations means a lot for the individuals. The social network, something to do during the day, a kind treatment but also the milieu are factors that seems important for the individuals. The organisations even creates a feeling of connection and satisfy other kind of needs.
