Omtänksamma flickor och tävlande pojkar : En undersökning av hur flickor och pojkar framställs i sex utvalda matematikböcker för årskurs 3 och 4

The purpose with this essay was to study and analyze how gender roles is represented in six different Mathematic books for children in the third and fourth grade and to see if the books counteract or reinforces traditional gender roles. It was also to see if the Mathematic books follow the goals in the curriculum. I had four questions that I focused on while analyzing the Mathematic books:What kind of activities does girls and boys like in the exercises in the Mathematic books?What does girls and boys own in the exercises in the Mathematic books?What does the relationships look like between different persons in the Mathematic books?Based on the results from questions 1-3, do these six Mathematic books try to follow the curriculum?The results of this study shows that girls often can be interested in things that usually is seen as either girlish or boyish, while boys mostly is interested in things that is seen as boyish. I got almost the same results when it comes to the second question, girls can buy things that is often seen as either girlish or boyish, while boys mostly buy things that is seen as boyish.

Matematik - Språk och kommunikation : En jämförande studie i en internationell skola

The purpose with this essay is to compare two classes in an international school during their Mathematic lesson. The international school offers education to their pupils in two languages; in Swedish and in English. Through this study I want to find out how teachers are working with language and communication during school hours. I will compare the work of two teachers and two classes to find out the differences and similarities between their work methods concerning language and communication during Mathematic lessons.The main questions for the essay:How do the teachers work with language and communication in this school during the Mathematic lessons?What similarities and differences are there between the two teachers in matter of methods of working with language and communication during the Mathematic lessons?The research is based on interviews with the teachers and also on observations in the classroom during Mathematic lessons.

Lässvårigheters påverkan på matematikprestationer

Enligt PISAs undersökning (Skolverket, 20I3) uppvisar svenska elever idag sämre prestationer i läsförståelse och matematik. Många påverkansfaktorer är omdiskuterade men varken lässvårigheter eller matematiksvårigheter har berörts. I relation till detta upprättas en litteraturstudie med syftet att undersöka huruvida lässvårigheter samverkar med matematiksvårigheter och hur det påverkar matematikprestationer. Resultatet av studien visar att lässvårigheter inte alltid påverkar matematiskprestationer. Somliga elever uppvisar svårigheter medan andra inte gör det, dock synliggörs kombinationen läs- och matematiksvårigheter oftare än svårigheterna var för sig.

Språkutveckling och matematiska kunskaper hos andra språkiga elever i ett IV program.

Our work is based on a Mathematics test which the students accomplished, interviews with student and teachers who are working on this program and the current literatures. The purposes of this work are to search the importance and the effect of the languages understanding in students learning of Mathematic in the Individual high school curriculum. In total, sex students and three teachers took part in our study. Tow of the students is mother tongue language student and the remains are second language student. Our study should answer tow important questions:? Do the student in the Individual high school curriculum have the fundamental knowledge in Mathematic?? How does the understanding of Swedish language effect in the understanding of the Mathematic problems and in the students results in Mathematic test?In order to answer those questions, the students have to complete a Mathematic test that consists of four parts.

The purpose with this essay was to see how the Mathematic books showed sexual roles in pictures and if they confirm or deny the traditional sexual roles that school shall counteract according to the curriculum, Lgr11. The questions I focused on were this:How sexual roles are introduced on the pictures in the chosen Mathematic books?What are the similarities and differences between the presentations of the gender in the chosen education materials?I used a semiotic method to analyze my pictures. The central parts of my theories were how we think that gender is created using characteristics and attribute. In my analyze I found out that the pictures in one of the book series showed more stereotypic sexual roles than the other book series did..

Hälsofrämjande skolans verksamhet påverkan av elevernas teoretiska inlärning

ABSTRACTThe purpose with the investigation was to find if there is a relation between daily health active and too reusing theoretic learning for health promotion school?s pupil. In the investigation I have focused into if the Health promotion school?s student has better result at the nation?s test (NT) in Swedish, English and in Mathematic in the fifths grade, than the ordinary school that isn?t health promotion school. The personal feelings of the two schools are that there is a connection between health active and too reusing theoretic learning.

Inkludering och matematiksvårigheter : En litteraturstudie av forskning om utmaningar med inkludering av elever i matematiksvårigheter

Denna systematiska litteraturstudie upprättats av intresse att undersöka hur inkludering påverkar eleverna i matematiksvårigheter. Syftet med studien är att beskriva de utmaningar som läraren ställs inför vid inkludering av elever i matematiksvårigheter. Detta leder även till att det blir av intresse att undersöka sambandet mellan begreppen inkludering och elever i matematiksvårigheter. Resultatet visar på att många forskare ställer sig positiva till inkludering, men menar att lärare behöver mer kompetens på området. Det påvisas även att inkludering inte passar alla elever i matematiksvårigheter.

?Matematik finns överallt och ingenstans? : Med fokus på pedagogernas arbete

The aim is to find out how teachers apply the knowledge they get from Mathematics pilots in preschool and from Mathematics developer in the municipality, as well as how they work further towards the children with Mathematics.The study is based on qualitative interviews with two teachers, one Mathematic pilot and one Mathematic developer. I used the semi-structured interview questions.The results show that teachers believe that Mathematics pilots will inspire the teachers in their work with Mathematics in preschool. One of the teachers who were interviewed said:?Mathematics pilots should be those that have the strongest glasses and coming up with new ideas and they push the rest of the teachers in their work with Mathematics in relation to children in preschool?.The teachers use the correct terms for Mathematical concepts with the children. They also stressed how important it is to point out to the kids that it is Mathematics that they are doing.The conclusion of the study is that the teachers agree that it is their approach towards the children that is important and how they can lead the children?s interest of Mathematics forward.

Läsning av matematiska texter : faktorer som påverkar förståelsen vid läsning av matematiska texter

Vi som har skrivit arbetet har haft olika erfarenheter kring läsning av matematiska textuppgifter. Intresset växte, då vi blev intresserade kring varför det kan vara svårt att läsa en matematisk text. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur elevers läsförståelse binds samman med läsning av matematiska textuppgifter samt se vilka inre och yttre faktorer som påverkar förståelsen. Kvalitativa intervjuer tillsammans med en kombination av fallstudier och observationer ligger till grund för metoden som använts i studien. I undersökningen deltog 63 elever och fyra lärare.

En laptop till varje elev : en studie om gymnasieskolans satsning på datorer i undervisningen

The aim of this study is to highlight the computer as a learning resource in the education and give us knowledge about how the students uses the computer in year one in a selected High School where one computer per student were introduced in autumn 2011. The aim is also to contribute to the discussion about how the computer can become a natural learning resource for all students in all subjects, including the students in need of special support.How are the High School students using the computer?Are there differences in computer use, whether the student is in academic or vocational program?Are there differences in computer use between boys and girls?Do the student experience that the digital competence is increasing together with if they experience the computer as aid?In what degree do the teachers encourage the students to use the computer?How much do the students use the computer to learn Mathematic?The study is based on a survey of all students in year one in a municipal High School.The result of the study is showing that the students first of all use the computer to play music, surf the Internet and to be logged in on social media (eg. Facebook). The students have learned to use the computer for the tasks they need, although the teachers don?t encourage the students to use the computer in any higher means, not in Mathematics and not in other subjects.

Matematisk begåvning: Hur kan det mätas och vad karaktäriserar matematiskt begåvade elever? : En systematisk litteraturstudie för elever i lägre åldrar

I den här litteraturstudien har begreppet matematisk begåvning granskats i syfte att reda ut hur matematisk begåvning bland studenter kan mätas och även, vad som kännetecknar matematiskt begåvade elever i nutid. För att besvara dessa två frågor har tyngdpunkten lagts på forskning under 2000-talet, däribland doktorsavhandlingar och vetenskapliga artiklar. Genom att göra en studie utifrån dessa kommer resultatet av denna studie klargöra hur matematisk begåvning kan mätas och ge en inblick i vad som kännetecknar matematiskt begåvade elever, alla utifrån ett forskningsperspektiv. Mina studier enas om att matematiska egenskaper som de matematiskt begåvade eleverna kan ha är olika från elev till elev och kan vara vilka egenskaper som helst som underlättar matematikundervisningen för eleverna. De flesta studierna mäter matematisk begåvning med resultatbaserade medel vilket motsäger deras egna slutsatser om att alla matematiskt begåvade elever är sin egen karaktär och både lär sig och utövar kunskap på olika vis..

Matematisk problemlösning i grupp

This study illuminates one part of the Mathematic teaching in school, which is Mathematical problem solving in groups. It examines teacher?s and student?s ideas about what conditions it takes to be able to learn in groups. Further on, it studies the importance of group structure when it comes to working with Mathematical problem solving in groups from a process focused and/or a product focused learning. Through observations of student groups and interviews with the students and the Mathematic teachers, the material has been compiled and analysed under three different headings: conditions for learning in a Mathematical problem solving situation, importance of group structure in a Mathematical problem solving situation and process versus product.

Matematik i ämnet matlagning : Hur förändra elevernas attityd till matematik på Restaurang- & Livsmedelsprogrammet

Most of my 16 students show a negative attitude towards Mathematics and have difficulty understanding why they need Mathematics to work as cooks. Their lack of knowledge has a negative effect on their work in the kitchen because they cannot master relatively simple Mathematical solutions. The purpose of this study is to examine if an integrated working method of the subjects Mathematics and cooking can change students? attitude towards Mathematics and increase their understanding of the value of it in restaurant work. An integrated working method means to integrate the core subjects with programme specific subjects and that teaching is directed towards the main features of the vocational programme in order to create a holistic view.A theory of action research has been applied in this study, aiming to change something perceived as problematic through combining theory and practice in the cooking subject.
