This report is focused on marketing opportunities for small-scale Mango farmers in the Nyanza Province in Kenya. Kenya is a large horticultural producer in the world. Horticulture is an important income for a large share of the rural population in Kenya but profitability is low due to inefficiencies in marketing systems and poor infrastructure. The conditions for growing Mango in the Nyanza Province are very beneficial and there are two harvesting seasons. Mango offers good income opportunities for small-scale farmers in the Nyanza Province.The aim of this study is to identify marketing conditions that will enable prospering business for small-scale Mango farmers in the Nyanza Province, Kenya.

This report is a literature review that aims to describe marketing contexts for Mango production in Kenya. The institutional conditions in the country are not well developed for marketing purposes, which causes many difficulties and problems for the society. In Kenya most Mango producers are poor small-scale farmers with limited resources. Mango is a perishable commodity and to keep its value and quality it is essential to have the opportunity to sell the Mangos in the right time. Inefficient and undeveloped infrastructure and marketing systems hinders the Mangos to reach the market in time though, which causes large losses of produce.The Kenyan Mango production has increased during the last decade but due to market losses for the producer, the small-scale farmers? profits have not improved.

Utveckling av en fiberberikad probiotisk fruktdryck

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether resistant maltodextrin is suitable as a fiber source in the probiotic fruit drink ProViva Mango without affecting the probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus plantarum 299v, viscosity or the sensory experience of the drink. Resistant maltodextrin is produced from hydrolyzed corn starch and is classified as a soluble dietary fiber. It is relatively resistant to digestion in the small intestine, where approximately 10% can be broken down, 50% can be fermented in the colon by the intestinal flora and 40 % is excreted in the faeces. Resistant maltodextrin has several important qualities when it comes to food processing. When added in a product, it does not affect the viscosity or taste and it is heat and acid stable.

Post-harvest losses in fruit supply chains : a case study of mango and avocado in Ethiopia

Food insecurity is a great problem worldwide and Ethiopia is one of the sub-saharan countries that are suffering from poverty and food insecurity and a large part of the population are living in a state of undernourishment. To reduce these problems, a successful horticulture production can be an important factor. Compared to other crops, fruit production in Ethiopia has not been a large part of the agricultural sector. However, the demand on the domestic market is increasing as well as the production for avocado and Mango. To increase food security it is important to focus on ways to decrease post-harvest losses of food products and not only have the productivity of agriculture in focus.

Två unga, snabba sniglar : en undersökning av förklaringar och exempel i tre läromedel i svensk grammatik

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka framställningarna av grammatik i tre läromedel för grundskolans senare år, Arena Faktaboken, Grammatiken i praktiken och Mango, samt att titta på om de exempel som används i läromedlen förefaller ligga nära elevernas eget språk. Undersökningen är koncentrerad till ordklasser och satsdelar, då det ofta är det som elever i grunskolans senare år undervisas i.Tidigare genomförda studier har uttryckt kritik mot svensk grammatikundervisning och de läromedel som används då det har visat sig att läromedlens exempel ofta är konstruerade och ligger långt från det språk som eleverna vanligtvis använder samt att läromedlens förklaringar är bristfälliga och ibland även felaktiga.Den undersökning som jag har genomfört visar att exemplen som används för att beskriva olika grammatiska aspekter till större delen består av enkla, vardagliga ord och uttryck men att det i vissa fall förekommer exempel som ligger nära elevernas vardagliga språk. Framställningarna av grammatik i de undersökta läromedlen liknar varandra i stor utsträckning och stämmer relativt väl överens med de beskrivningar som finns i Svenska akademiens språklära, men ett av de undersökta läromedlen har ett betydligt mer djupgående tillvägagångssätt där eleverna erbjuds en detaljerad bild av det svenska språket och dess grammatiska beståndsdelar och hur de samspelar och fungerar..

More and more companies open up facilities and stores in countries all around the world. Entering a new country means a new culture, a new language, different norms and values and new people with a different way of thinking unlike what you are used to. In order to survive and be successful in this new country means that you have to adapt to the new culture and its components you encounter.The purpose of this thesis has been to identify possibilities and barriers in the Middle Eastern culture affecting international clothing companies. Furthermore it has been investigated how these companies must adapt their products and promotion to this culture.In order to obtain relevant data for achieving the purpose of the study interviews and observations was made at three international clothing companies in Tehran, Iran. These were Mango, United Colors of Benetton and adidas.

Exotiska frukter har de sista 15-25 åren ökat. Kiwi, meloner, nektariner och persikor som för några år sedan var exotiska är idag en alldaglig syn i affären och man har för vana att köpa de. As changes occur rapidly on the global market and companies must adjust and revise their processes in order to stay competitive.Because of the global price reduction consumers around the world expect low-price products, which mean that the companies have to find new ways to produce in a cost-efficient way. To maximize profit most of the textile production is situated in low-cost countries due to its labour-intensive character. It is crucial for fashion companies to allocate their activities in their value-chain effectively in order to reduce lead-times.
