Knowledge management på en dagstidning

The purpose of this study was to describe how Journalists do research for their articles and whether there is a need to create a knowledge bank of the material that Journalists use for writing these articles. I also looked at how knowledge management could be used at a daily newspaper to add value to the information used by the Journalists. The thesis is based on four interviews with Journalists, a literature review and a practical project. I helped a journalist with his information seeking and later tried to organize the material. This project gave me an understanding of how varying the material that Journalists use is and how difficult it would be to try to organize it in order to create an organizational knowledge resource of the material.

We have also studied several factors that can affect their choices of sources. We have interviewed eight news Journalists from the two largest local news papers Barometern and Östran in Kalmar. The Journalists were asked about the sources they often use as interview objects. They were supposed to tell about how they think when choosing sources and define which sources they commonly use. There are different factors that can affect the choices and we have narrowed them down to ethics, source critics, credibility, stress, hard production conditions, public and their own interest and if they consider themselves to be individualistic or controlled by the news desks. Furthermore the Journalists were asked to characterize what changes they would make when choosing sources in a perfect world. All of the Journalists had not reflected prominently on the subject of sources before our research.

Att spela ett yrke : En kvantitativ studie om svenska speljournalister och deras professionalisering

This work aims to improve our knowledge about Swedish video game Journalists, a new occupation in a quickly expanding business. Through a survey sent out to over 50 Swedish video game Journalists, the result indicate some unexpected facts. Men largely dominate the profession; just 10 % of the work forces are females. This relation was notable in our survey, as well as in earlier studies. Video game Journalists between 26 and 35 years old seems to be the largest age group, which we think is a bit surprising considering how new this form of journalism is, and the fact the internet provides opportunities for every enthusiastic video game writer.

She describes this practice as ??traffic whoring??.
