In an age of increasing technology, it is a fact that typing on a keyboard are used in schools to replace Handwriting, this raises questions about the future use of the skill Handwriting still is necessary. The aim of this studys is to investigate students? opinion about their Handwriting, how motivation can influence Handwriting and how teachers work with handwrithing. Through intevjues with 25 sixgraders and two of their teachers, this study tends to proclame a picture of the Handwriting education in a Swedish school. The results of this study shows that the students? attitude towards Handwriting and choice of writingtool has some connection to the motivation but is not restricted to it.

Studien tar sin utgångspunkt i kognitiva skrivteorier. Syftet med studien har varit att undersöka om handskrivnings- stavnings- och avkodningsförmåga hade statistiska samband med textlängd och textkvalitetsamt om det fanns några skillnader mellan flickor och pojkar. Studien ville även se om det var bokstävernas läslighet eller om det var elevens föreställning om bokstavens utseende som hade betydelse för textlängd och textkvalitet. I urvalet ingick 38 elever i år 2.Resultaten visade att förmåga att snabbt skriva läsliga bokstäver och att kunna stava ord hade samband med textlängd. Textlängd hade samband med textkvalitet, ordvariation och syntaktisk komplexitet.Handskrivning och stavning hade ett måttligt samband med innehållsliga aspekter av textkvalitet och de förklarade 60 % av variationen på textkvalitet.Handskrivning och stavning hade starka samband med textyteaspekter av textkvalitet.

Reading old handwritten documents can be a real challenge for genealogists, especially as some documents in Sweden are written in the old German alphabet that is not used today. Much research has been done on how to enable computers to read old handwritten documents, but computers have so far not reached the level of reading that expert humans have. The focus seems to be on the computers reading the document with or without the help of human experts, with the aim of making the documents available in easily read form. I have, however, not found any research on how computers can help non-expert humans trying to read handwritten documents. In this project I have focused especially on beginning genealogists as reading gets easier with practice, and you need the help more in the beginning. By conducting interviews and observations with genealogists I established that reading is an issue and that there are many factors involved that make it difficult to read.

The study investigates questions and considerations emerging when stone in historic buildings needs to be replaced. The focus is on the surface treatment of stone in sandstone façades in pre-industrial buildings. That means buildings constructed by traditional methods and craftsmanship without the use of modern technology.The research issue originates from the extensive stonework that is planned for the façades of the Stockholm Palace. The project includes the replacement of large quantities of damaged stone to newly cut stone. This raises the questions about the use of modern and rational methods for surface treatment on the replacement stone.
