This essay attempts to examine whether it is possible to find a mutual understanding of the concept of drive between Spinoza?s philosophy and Freud?s psychoanalytical theory. Former texts on this subject have given a variety of conclusions: from a radical separation between the two authors to a complete identification between the two. The drive, or the desire which is the term Spinoza uses, has in Spinoza?s philosophy its foundation in the concept of conatus.

The purpose of the current study is to present an interpretation of Eros and its demonical aspect as it is described in Plato?s dialogues Phaedrus and The Symposium as well as to attempt to throw some light over the question in which way the erotic as such influences Plato?s notion of how to pursue philosophy. In the first part of the essay an account is given of the Platonic Eros as a unifying element and as striving for being. I defend the position that in the context of the interpreted dialogues philosophy is thought of as an erotic enterprise which takes place as a coming closer to the object of love. This coming closer takes place as remembering in Phaedrus and as creating in beauty in The Symposium.

Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att få en uppfattning om hur andra ser på Afrodite, om de beskriver henne som i myterna eller om det finns en annan bild av henne, men också att få en beskrivning av Afrodite som en kvinna av idag och vilka egenskaper hon i sådana fall har.Empiriska data har samlats in med hjälp av kvalitativ intervju med öppna frågeställningar. Utgångspunkten har varit en bild av en staty med Afrodite, Pan och Eros och informanterna fick beskriva vad de såg och kände inför bilden. Därefter följde en frågeställning om vem Afrodite-kvinnan av idag är. Förutom bilden av statyn diskuterade informanterna Afrodite som barn och tonåring, kvinnan Afrodite, kärlek och sexualitet, yrke och makt, man och barn, utseende och skönhet..

Like several of her female peers, Marie Under (1883 - 1980) has been denied the international acclaim she deserves. The earliest text on Marie Under in swedish told of her greatness, but in classical fallic maner reduced her poetic production by marking it with pathological symtoms. Though latter texts by author Enel Melberg have put a feminist perspective on Unders work, the theoretical complexity of her poetic images and language, and its polemic relation to contemporary literary currents, has yet to be recognised. This study will seek to portrait Marie Under and her poetry in this new light.The study moves from an installation of Marie Under in the modern discourse she so far has been estranged from, to an analysis of her earlier works (in the 1910?s and 1920?s).
