Representationer av döden i ungdomsfilm utifrån analyser av Hungerspelen och Jag saknar dig

Regarding Death in youth movies, analysis of Hunger Games and I Miss You  Today, Death is not as present in our everyday life as it was before when everyone knew how Death both looked and smelled. This means that media today has a different role and that media can help their viewers to mourn and become aware of Death in a completely different way. In this study, Death is analyzed as an representation; how it affects and is experienced in two selected youth films, The Hunger Games, (Gary Ross, 2012) and Jag saknar dig/I Miss You (Anders Grönros, 2011).Previous studies mostly analysis Death as a figure, and in accordance with these studies have concentrated on different physical descriptions of Death; often about diseases or how Death is portrayed in the news. In my opinion, these studies lack the perspective of how Death is presented, but also how young people respond to these deceptions of Death. This essay highlight different perspectives and show more of how Death occurs, how the cinematic look is described and how young people react to what is happening on the screen.

Dödens vara eller icke-vara i individens vardag : Om individuella och kulturella uppfattningar om människans förgänglighet

Though Death and mortality is an inevitable part of our lives it seems like both the society with its culture and the individual in some way repress Death. This study was set to explore how and why the individual holds back thoughts on his/her own Death and in which way society affect the individual?s repression of Death-thoughts. Using a hermeneutic approach I have interviewed five informants about Death and thoughts about Death in everyday life. Also for the analysis of the empirical material a hermeneutic approach was used, and the works of Bauman, Giddens, Heidegger, Fromm and May served as a theoretical starting point.

Min död är min : dödens konventioner i förändring under 1900-talets andra hälft

This is a study concerning the conventions surrounding Death and it´s rituals during the latter half ofthe 21th century. The study´s main material is the official magazine of SBF - Sweden´s funeral association ? Memento. By studying the undertaker and the self-image of his services at an intervalof years from 1945 to 2005, one is able to notice certain changes of values concerning what afuneral, a chest and a tombstone really is ? or rather how the meaning of these symbols of Death slowly shifts from the ?dignity? of Death towards the self-expression of the individual. In the 1940´s towards the 80´s, there is much talk of giving the dead a ?dignified? funeral and burial, and this is how the undertaker defends himself against public critique of his or her´sprofession´s ?trade with Death?.

Egyptiernas föreställningar om döden : en diskursiv analys av Dödsbokens formler

The Egyptian religion viewed the whole world as divine and inhabited by both gods and men. Concepts such as Death was therefore explained through myths. The ancient society feared Death but desired an eternal life. The Egyptians saw Death as a physical dismemberment of the body as had happened in the myth of Osiris when Death was first introduced to the world. Osiris functioned as a prototype for all men as he had overcome Death by finding a new existence in the netherworld.

Döden som rituellt medel

This essay consider ritual Death during the ironage, and through a presentation of historical and archaeological sources. Considered ritual Death I think we should study both historical and archaeological sources, to get a vider view and a new perspective. To make the essay easier to understand I have split up the early and the late Iron Age in the discussion. In order to study the ritual Death I have shown archaeological examples like bogsacrifices in the early ironage, and decapitated victims in the Viking society. The victims have been considered as slaves by some archaeologist.

Den suicidala livsvärlden : texter om självmord på Internet

Suicidology deals a lot with taking into consideration significant symptoms, risk factors and establishing causal relationships which inevitably are very important for suicide prevention. But do we understand the suicide attempters better thereby? The aim with the study is to elucidate the meaning of the lived suicidal experience that is expressed by participants on an Internet forum. Ten participants' texts which concerned own suicidality were chosen out from this Internet forum and were analyzed and interpreted on the basis of a phenomenological hermeneutical method inspired by Ricoeur (1976). The result established twelve themes that with the aid of Heidegger (1993) and Derrida (1978, 1991) led to that the following conclusions could be drawn about the meaning of the suicidal lifeworld: suicidal concern and care in itself reduces the sense of identity, practical suicidal doing in itself reduces the world, sense of identity is more affected by the future than the present and the past, the Death is escaped from through a calculating determination to have the Death at one's disposal, inability to turn away from the Death increases oscillating between states of emotions, the surrounding world's requirement to avoiding Death becomes to a compulsion to isolate one self; and finally: to both feel anxiety in front of one self's own Death and dread when escaping from it..

Dödsfallsutredningar : med oklar bakgrund och avsikt hos barn och ungdomar

Violence against children and particularly the ?Bobby Case? in spring 2006 initiated an unprecedented debate in the Swedish media about child maltreatment and child murder. There are however some children whose Death causes never will be solved, and some of these cases are erroneously classified as something else. The present survey is commissioned by the Swedish Rescue Services Agency and the Swedish Centre for Lessons Learned from Incidents & Accidents, and will serve as the basis for a children safety council which will be established 2006.In this survey the answer to the question how Deaths among children and youth under the age of 18 years caused by accidents, suicides and violence are investigated when the background and the intention is uncertain is elaborated. A statistical report of how many Deaths are classified as uncertain intent is given in the survey. The statistics shows that 26 children and youths under the age of 18 have died from uncertain intent between the years 1997-2003.There are many purposes to a Death investigation, for example to determine the cause and manner of Death.

In this essay I have studied Aftonbladets portrayal of the Swedish businessman Jan Stenbeck and if the reporting changes before and after his Death, and if so, in which ways. With help from a qualitative syntax analysis and a content analysis I studied my material about Stenbeck during the time period 2000-09-19 to 2004-09-19. In my quantitative analysis I studied 140 articles and in my syntax analysis I studied ten articles, five before and five after Stenbecks Death. The theoretical perspectives that I applied in my study is Sigurd Allerns theory about tabloid papers novelty criteria and Adam Shehatas theory about Framing. Allerns theory describes what criteria the tabloid papers have on news and Shehatas theory about framing describes the political forces behind the news who wants to set their own agenda.

Anhöriga i sorg. Sjuksköterskans stödjande roll till anhöriga i sorg.

Death is the only experience we know we will come across in our lives. Yet it is so difficult to speak about Death and the sorrow before and after Death occurs. The aim of this literature study was to find out how as a general nurse one can help relatives to handle their situation in mourning. The question was: How does the nurse feel when confronted with mourning relatives? What measures and caring should the nurse take to alleviate the handling of the relatives in mourning? After scrutiny and critical analysis of ten scientific papers, some common denominators have remained.

Döden och livet därefter enligt en berättelse om liemannen : En kvalitativ undersökning av uppfattningar om döden och livet efter detta i Grim Fandango Remastered.

The purpose of this paper consists of examining the different ways of thinking about Death and life beyond Death conveyed in the game Grim Fandango Remastered. This was done by using a theoretical framework consisting of a self invented definition of Death called "Bodily Death". This definition consists of common notions about Death such as cessation of life functions like movement, metabolism, respiration and overall cessation of brain functions. It also included cessation of vital processes, which includes the ability to make energy transfer, making reparations, for example by cell replication, as well as the waste system of the body.  Besides this, the study examines the prevalence of dualism, a conception that views the soul essential to the individual's mental state. Two kinds of dualism were investigated, simple dualism with the assumption that the individual is made up of the soul, and compound dualism, where soul and body are dependent on each other for the survival of the individual.
