The purpose of this project has been to redesign an already existing Cook-book. The title of the book (directly translated), ?Season in food ? the year around with herbs and spices?, contains what the headline imposes: spices, herbs and food. But when the author tries to entwine these parts and communicate it to the reader it is not working all to well due to a poor and inconsistent graphic design.I have followed the theories and values of information design when I redesigned the book layout with the intent to simplify the communication between author and reader. In the progress to make a complete dummie of the book I did multiple literature studies, book analysis, tests and a vast number of drafts.In this report I will describe the whole process from start to finish.

I den här studien görs ett försök att finna ut varför kommunen väljer cook chill, om det blir någon näringsförlust när man använder metoden och vad pedagogerna anser om maten som serveras. Tre metoder har använts; intervjuer, enkäter och litteraturstudier. Två personer inervjuades; kommunens kostansvarige och den ansvarige vid centralköket. 50 stycken enkäter skickades till pedagoger vid fyra olika förskolor och 26 stycken kom tillbaka.Det framgår i studien att det är ekonomiskt fördelaktigt i kommunen att använda sig av cook chillmetoden, då många förskolor inte är anpassade för matlagning i eget kök. Det finns dock studier som visar på att metoden medför vissa näringsförluster.

E-books are not yet fully established on the Swedish book market. A frequently discussed theory is that this might be because of a loss in the reading experience. This thesis has the primary purpose to investigate whether the reading experience from E-books differs from the experience of reading a traditional book in paper. The book used for comparation is a poetry collection named Rakel delat med tio. I have designed the cover and the inlay of this book and as a part of the thesis the working progress is described.

The aim of this thesis is to accomplish a user study on how e-book users experience the electronic book, the e-book, as an instrument for reading fiction. The study is based upon qualitative interviews with twelve e-book users and a small survey carried out at the Stockholm City Library. The purpose is to identify the users' incentive for choosing the e-book as a medium for reading fiction, elucidate if and how the interface of the e-book affects the reading experience, and distinguish if there are any factors common to the users in their choice of reading e-books. How the users look upon the future of the e-book is also discussed. Among the people asked in the survey we note little if any demand for the e-book as an instrument for reading fiction.

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the art of book talk. Book talk is when a librarian orally presents a book in front of a group of people, in this thesis, a group of children. The first part of the thesis treats book talk as a method and its development. It will also go through which role book talk plays in the daily work of a children's librarian today, and if they got any education in book talk during their librarian education. The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare Lev Vygotskij's pedagogical theories on fantasy and creativity to book talk performed by children's librarians.

Many people believe that the analogue picture book is a dying media due to the increase of digital media. Contrary to popular belief, the publishing of children?s book in Sweden is continually increasing, which makes mapping the field quite significant. But to regulate the creation of a children?s picture book is problematic, because one does not want to impede the personal style of the writer or the illustrator of the children?s book.If the children?s book creator has an understanding of how to better communicate with children, the children?s book might have a grater impact on the child.

Detta examensarbete har utförts för att undersöka vilka möjligheter Alvis Hägglunds AB har att med hjälp av datorsimulering förbättra minskyddet på företagets produkter. Två olika beräkningsprogram har utvärderats, Abaqus/Explicit samt Autodyn-2d, som båda baseras på FEM (Finita elementmetoden). Som grund för utvärderingen har mätdata från ett verkligt experiment använts som referens. En jämförelse mellan olika materialbeskrivningar har samtidigt utförts, för att undersöka skillnaden dem emellan. Dessa är Johnson-Cook?s materialmodell samt två olika varianter av en traditionell, klassisk plasticitetsmodell.

Bakgrund: Mat till svaga och sjuka äldre är en viktig del av den medicinska behandlingen. Äldre individer drabbas ofta av viktförlust på grund av ät svårigheter vilket kan leda till undernäring, det främsta nutritionsproblemet i Sverige. Matservicen är en viktig del inom äldreomsorgen. Det kommer nya metoder för att denna service ska kunna producera stora mängder av mat på ett praktiskt sätt, med tanke på ekonomi och resurser. Men även med tanke på matsäkerhet, sensoriskt perspektiv och nutritionsegenskaper.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether the reading promotion project called ?A book?s all sides?, together with the activities of the book-event, can stimulate young people?s reading. The research questions are: How do the project leaders plan and organize activities for the book-event? How do the young people respond to the activities at the book-event? Do the young people get interested in the book which is presented at the book-event? Which connections between Vygotskij?s theory and the activities can be found in the book-event? The theoretical approach is based on Lev Vygotskij?s socio-cultural theory. To answer my research questions I have implemented four qualitative interviews and two interviews with the adult activity leaders and observed a book-event in the classroom.

In this thesis, rare book collections in university libraries are studied. University libraries function primarily as service institutions for students and researchers. Rare book collections may to some extent be seen as a part of this service. Stockholm and Uppsala University Libraries are the focus in this thesis. They participate because of their difference regarding their rare book collections.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out the possibilities for librarians and book bloggers to collaborate. We find this relevant because of blogs being a new medium that could be useful for librarians to embrace. Book blogs are often networks of blogs connected to each other through their common interest in literature and we have examined how this could be of use for librarians.The method we have used is semi-structured interviews, which gave us the possibility to adjust our questions based on the informants? answers, when necessary. Our informants have been both librarians and book bloggers; we have met some of them and interviewed the others by e-mail.

In this study the book talk is examined as a communicative act with a purpose to convince according to an under-lying intention to promote reading. I follow the book talk?s way from an idea of the book talker (and the library) to the reception of the audience, with the aim to understand how to talk about books in an engaging manner. More specifically, the rhetorical situation and the purpose of a book talk, the performance and the means to arouse and retain interest in the book talk as a speech and in the books themselves are examined and the impact of the book talk on the audience.The empirical material consists of observations of two different book talks (both directed to children) and interviews with the two different book talking librarians and a few of the children from the audiences to both book talks. The theoretical framework consists of rhetorical theories from both antique and modern times and I perform a rhetorical analysis of both book talks.
