Datoranvädning i svenskundervisningen : Fem gymnasielärares uppfattningar om datorns möjligheter och hinder
The aim with this study was to investigate how a few teachers in Swedish, at upper secondary school, are using Computers in their teaching, and what approach they have towards using Computers in teaching. A qualitative study has been made to accive a result, on this matter, were five currently teaching teachers in Swedish, at different upper secondary schools, have been intervjued. The teachers answered questions concerning how and in what speciefic fields of study they use Computers, the computer program and -tools they are using and what benefits and disadvantiges they see with Computers in teaching. They also answered questions concerning the availability of Computers at the schools which they are working. The study showed that the way teachers are using Computers in their teaching, and the amount they are using them varied between the teachers; but all are using Computers mainly with the purpose to write texts and to search for information. All teachers also had in common that they are using Computers not as frequently and in a different way when grammar is concerned. It appered that the teachers were mainly positive to use Computers in their teaching, even if some teachers acknowleadged more disadvantiges than the others.
Surfplattor som studieverktyg : En artefakt för mediering
Swedish schools have during the last few years started to providing pupils in high school with tablet-Computers. By doing interviews I examine how pupils in high school use tablet-Computers in different ways and how that affect their studies. From a sociocultural perspective and with the concept of artefacts I analyze how suitable tablet-Computers are for studies on this level of education. My results show that the tablet-Computers are used as the pupils primary study tool. They are available to all pupils and can be used in most parts of their studies and this creates new opportonities in how to interact with collective knowledge and with other people.

The school is a place of work where teachers, with different tools, are supposed to teach their students for the future. In the study the teachers? opinions will be lifted when it comes to use of Computers as a tool to teach the students how to read and write. The interpretation is that the use of Computers is reflecting the development of society and the intention is to find out if Computers will be used in a didactic purpose in teaching. We focused on getting knowledge about which different opinions there are among teachers in grade 1-3 when it comes to the use of Computers as a tool in teaching how to read and write.
Chalmers oanvända datorkraft - Distribuering av arbete och energihantering med HTCondor
Chalmers University of Technology today have numerous Computers which are never powereddown, at the same time there is a need for more computation power for researchers.Hence, we have investigated the possibility to use the Computers for computing power andsecondly, if there is no work to be done, to put them into power saving mode.We have made a thorough study where we compared different distributing systems andin the end HTCondor was chosen as the best to implement. HTCondor is an excellent systemfor opportunistic use of computing power, i.e. make use of Computers that no one elseis currently using. The system is used at several universities around the world with goodresults and would be excellent at Chalmers, where there is a need for such a system.Our implementation shows that HTCondor is well capable of handling unused computingpower. HTCondor can handle most file types that may be run on the system.

The aim of this report is to discuss computer security in handheld Computers and to find out the appropriate security level that must be implemented to be able to use handheld Computers within the Swedish healthcare system. Most healthcare centers are using some kind of electronic journals for their patient´s data today, but there are still a number of clinics that are usingthe old paper-system. On a few places in Sweden the use of handheld Computers at the clinics has already started, but in the United States the use of handheld Computers in the medical area is already widespread and from this we can see a lot of different situations where it is useful and effective to work with handheld Computers. The security demands on patient´s journals are high and regulated in both Swedish law and regulations from the National Swedish Board of Health and Welfare. The law does not have any substantial demands, but states that there should be an adequate security level based on the nature of the information and the costs.
Datorer i förskolan - barns nya kultur : barnvakt eller ett pedagogiskt hjälpmedel
In this essay I have chosen to explore how Computers are used in preschools. The study was done as a survey. How does preschool seize the children´s culture? In today´s society ICT and Computers are a big part of children´s everyday life and reflects on their upbringing.Since I am using Computers as a pedagogical tool in teaching the children at my preschool, I find this topic interesting to explore.Are the teacher´s using Computers for an educational purpose with the children at preschools or are they using it in other ways?Do the teachers think they have the required knowledge to Computers usage in teaching the children in a pedagogical way?What is the teacher´s attitude towards Computers in preschool?The essay starts with a introductorial background section where I talk about my own experiences of using Computers with the children in my preschool, and then referring to the society then and now, school law, curriculum, teachers' computer skills, media situation amongst children and young people, computer use in preschools/schools and health effects. I have composed a survey based on the answers of 50 teachers in 30 different preschools and in nine different municipalities.The result of the survey is reported and concludes with a part of discussion, where the results are put up against the introductorial background section.
Att skriva utan penna : En studie av datorns betydelse för skrivande på gymnasienivå
The purpose of this study is to investigate how important Computers are for text production in upper secondary school level, and to find out what attitudes some students have towards Computers in writing classes. I have let 44 students in the Swedish gymnasium course Swedish B write an argumentative essay. Half of the group wrote using paper and pencil, and the other half used Computers. The essays were graded, and the language and length of the texts were analyzed. The students also filled in a questionnaire with questions on computer aided writing classes.The results showed that the texts that were written with Computers contained a significant larger amount of words and fewer spelling mistakes.

The purpose of this study was to examine if there are gender differences in computer use among the young. Our aim was to find out in what respects boys and girls differ, if at all. The main method of investigation is a literature review. We have also made a complementary empirical study in a public library. The literature studied principally covers computer use at home and in school.
IKT och Pedagogik : En kvalitativ studie om datorbaserad undervisning och elevutveckling utifrån språklärares perspektiv
The purpose of this paper was to investigate the foremost teachers thinking of Computers in teaching, how they work practically with Computers as a tool, and if it is reflected in the students' school performance. To carry out this study, I used qualitative interviews as a method and I have interviewed four teachers where two works at the high school and two in upper secondary school. Both schools use Computers in teaching as a supplementary tool for teaching materials. All teachers have similar ideas regarding what purpose one should use the computer and in which way, but the important thing is that the teachers and students receive an introductory course in how to use Computers. Educators agree that this approach is and can promote students' language and knowledge regardless of the subject.My informants have come up with own methods that they use in the digital classroom including Skype, YouTube, Facebook and flippedclassroom where one can learn from other educators working.

The purpose of this master thesis was to study the librarians?assignment at the public accesses Computers, especially howthe librarians perceive what their task is and what their taskshould be.In order to answer these questions a series of ten qualitativeinterviews ?inspired by the phenomenographic approach ?was conducted with librarians who were employed at smallpublic libraries in municipalities with 5 000 - 25 000residents in Sweden.The conclusions in the master thesis were that librarianshave both similarities and differences in how they perceivetheir tasks at the public Computers. The most essential taskwas helping the user with information seeking. Thelibrarians also perceived that it should be included in theirduties to help users with the technical/practical issues at thepublic Computers. Competence, time and assets were finallythree outlying factors which affected in what extent thelibrarians were able to help the users..
Digital divide eller digital opportunity i Anacostia High School, Washington D.C. : en studie baserad på sistaårselever i High School
Purpose/Aim: The goal of this thesis is to examine access and knowledge Computers and the Internet among the senior-year students of Anacostia High School. Do the students of this facility have the same opportunity as the residents from better socioeconomical backgrounds or are they being excluded from the technology? Material/Method: To approach the thesis goal I have used a quantitative method. More specifically, a questionnaire was handed out to the senior year students at Anacostia High School. Main results: The study has shown that most of the students of Anacostia had in some way access to Computers and Internet.
Rum och plats för datorer på folkbibliotek : En kvalitativ fallstudie
This master thesis was written in the purpose to study how the location and access to Computers in the physical realm of the public library reflects the undergoing changes in the public libraries role in Swedish society. This study is done in a form of a case study of three small public libraries. All of them were in the process of transforming both their physical and virtual space. The thesis focuses on where in the library the Computers are placed and how their location interacts with the libraries main tasks. It also focuses on the analysis of the relationship between these two elements and how that relationship reflects the alteration of the public libraries place in society.

This study focuses on teachers? and pupils? experiences of their use of one-to-one Computers in civics education in Swedish upper secondary school. The experiences of teachers and pupils will also be put in relation to the content of the formal curriculum. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the access of one-to-one Computers has changed teaching and learning within civics. The theoretical approaches used are both Tomas Kroksmark?s theory about traditional versus innovative learning and Ruben Puentedura?s SAMR-model.

The purpose of this study was to illustrate how children of the "digital generation" used their Computers in their everyday practice. The important in the study was children's perspective on Computers interactions and communications in a digital arena.An essential item about understanding children's way to think about Computers was to let children themselves speak by taking part in the study, because children's voices are seldom heard in public. The empirical material used was interviews with sex children between 13 and 15 years old. My method was qualitative.The main results showed that social relations are very important for children. The Internet gives children access to an arena where they are able to make new contacts with others as well as transcend their biological as their physical identity.An important accepts for the children in the study was the option to be anonymous.
