Feministiskt självförsvar - för eller emot?

The aim of this thesis is to discuss and analyse the media debate about feminist self-defence, by pointing out the pros and the cons. The Arguments in favour could be separated into three different parts: statistical Arguments, psychological Arguments and justice Arguments. The counter Arguments could also be separated into three parts: general Arguments, violence-related Arguments and gender-related Arguments. In short, feminist self-defence is built on women's experiences of men's violence. It contains three different parts to help women avoid violence, threat of violence, insult and sexual harassment.

Att gå en gyllene medelväg. Nio barnbibliotekariers resonemang kring Wahlströms långserieböcker på folkbibliotek

The aim of this masters thesis is to examine how some childrens librarians in public libraries reason about Wahlströms series books. During the 1970s, there was a discussion about the series books, and the general meaning was, among other things, that the books should not be available at libraries. Therefore, we also want to study if the Arguments for and against the series books presented today are any different than those presented in the 1970s. For this examination, two methods have been used. We have done qualitative interviews with nine childrens librarians, and in order to find the Arguments presented in the 1970s, we have studied the literature regarding the mentioned discussion.

"Den stora stygga vargen?" : En argumentationsanalys om vargens moraliska värde i vargdebatten

The purpose of this paper is to see which ethical content Arguments have in the debate about wolfhunting, particularly with regard to the Svensk Jakt respective Tidningen Djurens Rätt's Arguments. The method used in this paper is the analysis of Arguments in which I investigate the pro and contra Arguments of the four authors of the articles that I have chosen to study. I will avail myself of theories from Carruthers and Franklin. Analysis shows that the authors of the Swedish hunting above all have a ecocentric view of the wolf where it is an instrumental value for the ecosystem, and the authors of Djurens Rätt's has especially a biocentric view of the wolf where it may be an absolute value, but they can also extend to the that the wolf has instrumental value in the ecocentric perspective. The discussion has shown that Djurens Rätt's and Svensk Jakt has a common position that is an ecocentric perspective where the wolf has instrumental value, even though they believe that different actions are different law to protect the species and the ecosystem..

Fri att missbruka: tvingad till vård. En argumentationsanalys av 70-talets debatt om tvång i socialvården

Can coercive care be justified against drug and alcohol addicts or should treatment be offered on a strictly voluntary basis? This was one of the central questions debated in Sweden during the 70's when the development of a new social legislation, The Social Services Act (Socialtjänstlagen), took place. The first aim of this thesis was to analyse whether the Arguments that were presented both in favour for and against coercion were sound. To achieve this, a method for analysing Arguments was employed, where a sound argument is defined as acceptable, relevant and adequate. The analysed material consists of both official government reports and books of influential debaters.

Om önskvärdheten av svensk deltagardemokrati En analys av argument från åren 2000-2002

On the 17th of January 2002 the Swedish government presented a bill to theSwedish parliament, proposing ways of strengthening the Swedish democracythrough reforms for increased elements of participatory democracy. A publicreport on the state of the Swedish democracy had been released two years earlierwith similar enthusiasm for participatory democracy. However, the participatoryideals of these two documents were strongly criticised by a group of scholars. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and compare the Arguments articulatedbetween the years 2000 and 2002 by the actors mentioned above, and to examinetheir relation to Arguments concerning political participation, articulated bythinkers from previous times. By classifying the Arguments into different groupsdepending on their content I find that both parties in the Swedish argumentationfocus on the effects of participatory democracy on political equality, on theefficiency of the political decision-making and the quality of the decisions beingmade, and finally on the personal character of the citizens. Among the Argumentsarticulated by thinkers from previous times, similarities with the Swedishargumentation can be seen as well as important differences.

Grundsärskolan- en skolform i tiden? : Grundsärskolans personals uppfattning om uppdrag, synsätt och attityder

The Swedish government ratified on May 1 2009 an amendment of marital law, resulting in same-sex marriage becoming legalized. With the rights of the Christian Swedish state church to officiate weddings originating from the same law, the church was thereby faced with two options: Either officially include same-sex couples in the Christian concept of holy matrimony and keep the right to officiate weddings; or give up the right to officiate weddings altogether. An official decision to accept the terms was reached on October 22 2009, but not without being preceded by an agitated medial debate. This research attempts to analyze the Arguments of the debate in three stages: In the first stage the Arguments are categorized according to their respective ideological standpoint. In the second stage these categories are examined from post-modern, social constructivist and socialization theory perspectives. Based on this, the third stage sees the Arguments analyzed from a viewpoint based in the Copenhagen school concept of securization. The research concludes that the debate does not only simply feature two sides with differences of opinion; but rather that the Arguments of the two opposing sides are founded in a common view of the other side as a fundamental threat to ones conception of a sound society..

Det bästa för miljön, det bästa för Europa?- Europeiska kommissionens argumentation i frågan om EU-harmonisering av miljöskatter The best of the environment, the best for Europe?- European Commission' s official arguments on EU hormonisotian of environmen

This thesis tackles the subject concerning Arguments as a conceptual basis forunderstanding the general strategy of the European Union Commission on issuesconcerning EU-harmonized environmental taxes, politically delicate and intergovernmentaldependent. The Commission's official proposals, communications and other relevant documents are subject to inquiry, where the theoretical bases are that harmonized environmental taxes in the EU is an issue conceived as supported by academic debate, and where the institutional arrangement in relation to an European-national dimension alongside the discursive context, allows meaningfulspace for Arguments. The study makes a distinction between substantial (environmental cancerns in itself) and instrumental (other benefits, mostly economic ones) rationality as a foundation in various types of Arguments. The study's main findings are that the Commission's official documents over the past 20 years, have been trying to keep a strong image of reason and knowledge based Arguments for an EU-wide environmental tax reform. In particular, the types of Arguments tend to appeal to the Member States by stressing the instrumental rationality in a European environmental tax reform, indicating the value of good Arguments as a part of the Commission's main strategies. In sum, this may have further theoretical suggestions concerning questions of environmental and elimate change policies in a European context or other more general studies relying on theoretical assumptions of logics of argument, legitimacy or studies of motives behind action strategies in politically sensitive issues such as taxation at supranationallevel..
