Uppsatsen har till syfte att belysa sydafrikanska ungdomars syn på demokrati och jämföra denna med ungas syn på demokrati under 70-talet, när de stod i främsta ledet i kampen mot Apartheid. Genom att intervjua ett litet antal ungdomar i Kapstadens förorter har jag fått en aning om hur de tänker omkring det nya politiska system som styr Sydafrika idag. Jag har jämfört dessa intervjuer med material från litteratur om ungdomars kamp mot Apartheid för att försöka se om synen på demokrati förändrats något medan landet gått från Apartheid till demokrati. Utifrån intervjuerna tycker jag mig kunna se ett missnöje med den demokrati som vuxit fram i Sydafrika efter Apartheid. Efter tio år kan man se att processen har börjat men också att det går väldigt långsamt, något som är frustrerande när man är ung.Under kampen mot Apartheid fanns en fiende, den rasistiska vita maktstrukturen, som man med alla medel försökte förgöra.

ABSTRACTBjelkenbrant, Pernilla, 2006: ANC-galan i Göteborg 1985: en analys av sången Soweto som politisk mobilisering (The ANC gala in Gothenburg in 1985: an analysis of the song Soweto as a means of political mobilisation)The political scientists Abdul Karim Bangura, Ove Nordenmark and Tor Sellström, all believe that there, during the 1980s, existed a strong and unified ?Swedish? attitude against the South African Apartheid system, and Sellström points out that this position had a strong anchorage in the ANC gala in Gothenburg in 1985. Over the past few years, singing has been identified as playing a crucial role in the struggle against Apartheid. The aim of this study is twofold: firstly it presents a comprehensive discussion on how song is generally considered a tool of political mobilisation, secondly it discusses how that process can be applied to the ANC-gala. Consequently, the theoretical discussion constitutes the initial part of the study.

The purpose of this essay is to study the film culture in South Africa in a national cinema-context, focusing on the relationship between anti-Apartheid film from 1974-1994 and the film in South Africa today. By pitching the South Africa-specific works of Lucia Saks and Jacqueline Maingard against the over-arching debate on national cinema as formulated by, amongst others, Stephen Crofts and Andrew Higson, this study aims to find whether or not a specific South African national cinema have existed, and exists today, or not. The study finds that an underground culture of documentaries and short films made by and for the black population has been in place since the Apartheid, and the distribution method on video and television is still being used to reach the black population today. By re-examining the concepts of both the national, and of national cinema to also include film on video and television, the study shows that South Africa has indeed a film culture that can be called a national cinema..

In the year of 2006 I moved to South Africa for a year, a land that has fascinated me because of its history. During the time of my stay I became very surprised how strongly Apartheid permeates the community where the white South Africans today are building walls around themselves. Through media we get surrounded with pictures that media creates and to find information regarding what?s happening in the world this is, most often, the primary source. Therefore I believe it?s interesting to explore how two different local newspapers from the county of Kalmar, with two different ideologies, present pictures of the same event, namely the revolt of Soweto in 1976 and how these two newspapers relates to racial policies.

The purpose of this essay is to study if and how five South African educators work with music as a special pedagogical tool in children's language development. To achieve the purpose of this study, two research questions were created. As method, interviews of a qualitative character were chosen.  The aim of the method is to give the educators the opportunity to think about and use their own experience before answering the questions.The result shows that the South African educators are not using music as a special educational tool. They rather use music as an everyday educational tool to promote children's language development. The result indicates that music in educational activities promotes children?s communication with each other.

SammanfattningSyftet med detta examensarbete är att bidra med kunskap om vilka möjligheter, samt svårigheter det finns med att implementera en ny läroplan. För att vidare konkretisera syftet har tre frågeställningar tagits fram:1. Vad har verksamma inom skolväsendet i Sydafrika för uppfattningar om den nya läroplanen?2. Vilka möjligheter samt hinder ser de verksamma inom skolväsendet i Sydafrika med den nya läroplanen?3.

This thesis is largely about museums and their role and development in and for society. With a field/case study of the District Six Museum in Cape Town, we try to encapsulate a modern function for museums within a context of 1) the current worldwide discussion on museums and their future, and 2) the development of a new democratic nation in South Africa, and museums possible role in that process. Through analysis of interviews made with concerned people within and outside the District Six museum weintend to get a picture of the views on this particular museum and its role and function, for its community and society at large, plus for other museums, as a possible role model. We find that this museum might be close to a type of museum that has been asked for by museologists and others in recent times..

This essay captures the process toward a democratic transition in South Africa and tempts on analyzing the efforts made by civil society before the negotiation with the government in the beginning of the 90´s. The method used is a case study.By applying the theory of Elisabeth Jean Wood about the importance of continued mobilization, I try to answer the question: to what extend did civil society influence the democratization process. The focus of the study lies on the years of intensified popular mobilization, from the start of the 80´s until the beginning of the 90´s.The results following this study shows that COSATU, Congress of South African Trade Unions) and ANC(African National Congress) played both a crucial role for the democratization process in South Africa. UDF, however played a role in the process, but not in the same significant way that COSATU and ANC..

Med Köpenhamnsskolans säkerhetiseringprocess som analysverktyg kan man tolka institutionaliserandet av Apartheidpolicyn som en följd av att rasfrågan i Sydafrika under tiden efter andra världskriget säkerhetiserades. Den vita identiteten formades, med ett postmodernistiskt perspektiv, i och med denna process. Den samtida politiska diskursens konstruerade föreställningar om ?vi? och ?dem? blev en förutsättning för samhällets uppfattning om Apartheidsystemets legitimitet. I och med Apartheidregimens fall reverserades emellertid rasfrågan i säkerhetiseringsprocessen och introduceras åter som politisk fråga.

Uppsatsen undersöker hur samhällskunskapsböckers innehåll, med fokus på förmedlandet av ekonomiska förhållanden, har förändrats över tid.Läroplanerna GY70 och Lpf94 har granskats, tillsammans med respektive läroplaners kursplaner för ämnet samhällskunskap för gymnasiestudier. Teorier om anledningarna till att det finns läroplaner och läromedel, samt teorier om hur man kan arbeta med dem finns även presenterade.Undersökningen är gjord utifrån tre läromedel i samhällskunskap, vilka har närlästs och i samband med närläsningen dokumenterats i ett analysschema utifrån vilket resultatet är presenterat. Läromedlen är från år 1966, 1990 och 2007.Innehållsmässigt följer läromedlen till övervägande del vad som eftersöks från styrdokumentens håll, även om det finns skillnader i hur och i vilken utsträckning information lyfts fram i de olika läromedlen. Sammanfattningsvis kan sägas att ekonomiavsnitten i läromedlen har blivit mindre i omfång samt att bakgrundsinformationen till varför våra ekonomiska system fungerar som de gör, successivt uteslutits ur läromedlen. .

I denna undersökning vill vi belysa motiven bakom hur svenska små- och medelstora företag har valt att internationaliseras till Sydafrika. Därifrån vill vi med hjälp av våra respondenters perspektiv klarlägga hur de kulturella skillnaderna upplevs, och hur Sydafrikas framtidsutsikter kommer att utvecklas. Sveriges insatser under Apartheid medförde en goodwill som vi är intresserade av att undersöka närmare. Finns den kvar och hur påverkar den våra respondenters arbete i Sydafrika.Studien bygger på en kvalitativ ansats där det empiriska underlaget är inhämtat genom intervjuer av personer på ledande befattningar i fyra svenska små- och medelstora företag med verksamhet i och till Sydafrika. Materialet har därefter analyserats utifrån teoretiska utgångspunkter hämtade ur export- och kulturstrategiska infallsvinklar.Studien visar att svenska små och medelstora företag internationaliseras till Sydafrika med huvudmotivet att öka företagets vinst.

Korröfestivalen- en bordunstämmas resa genom festivaliseringenThe Korrö festival- The establishment of a Swedish Folk Music Festival.This thesis describes how folk music festivals have been escalating during the past few and how they have influenced Swedish folk music. To reach my results I have been studying one festival in particular which is the Korrö Folk Music Festival. This event started in the mid-eighties as a small happening that attracted almost exclusively musicians that were a part of the bordooon movement. The bordoon movement gathered a couple of days in the summer at what they called the ?Korrö bordunstämma? to build instruments and play folk music.

Detta är en komparativ uppsats som beskriver likheter och skillnader mellan Sydafrikas läroplan, Revised National Curriculum Statement for Schools (Grades R-9), Svenska läroplanen Lpo 94 och kursplanen i religion.Hur en läroplan utformas beror mycket på landets historia. Att Sydafrika har haft mycket problem med exempelvis Apartheid speglas också i läroplanen. Demokrati är något som tycks vara mycket viktigt för den sydafrikanska skolan. I Sverige har vi haft demokrati relativt länge, och det verkar nästan som att vi börjar ta detta för givet. Hur stort utrymme demokratin tar i läroplanerna och kursplanen i religion är en av sakerna jag tar upp i denna uppsats.Jag jämför också hur man beskriver religionsämnet i respektive läroplan/kursplan.
