This report deals with an IT solution for the fictive company, Nexus Consulting. It is a small company with four employees, dealing with economic policy. The company wishes to set up a complete network environment with Antivirus, firewall, computers and servers. They want us to analyze and compare different outsourcing companies offering cloud services and then recommend which company would suit them best.In addition, the company wants to have a webpage containing essential information about them and the services that they offer their customers.The report describes, analyzes and compares three outsourcing companies offering complete cloud services where a practical solution proposal has been developed by the group.The network component is based on the Windows platform and the web part is coded in HTML and PHP.The report also discusses what cloud computing is and why so many companies choose to move to it..

I dagens IT-samhälle är säkerhet en viktig aspekt. Ett sätt att nå högre säkerhet är att bygga upp säkerheten i lager. I hemmanätverk är två vanliga lager Antivirus och brandvägg.Den här kandidatuppsatsen undersöker om ett intrångsdetekteringsystem (IDS) är ett bra komplement till säkerheten i ett hemmanätverk.För att hålla systemet så attraktivt som möjligt för hemmanätverket fokuserar man på att hålla priset nere och konfigurationen enkel. Vi valde enkorts-datorn (Raspberry Pi) med programvaran IPFire, som är open-source, där IDS:en Snort ingår och IPFire har ett enkelt gränssnitt för konfiguration.För att mäta hur effektivt systemet fungerar, mäts det hur många hot Snort upptäcker. Mätningar gjordes också för att undersöka om systemet orsakade prestandaförluster i hemmanätverket.Av resultaten drogs slutsatsen att systemet är ett bra komplement till säkerheten i ett hemmanätverk.

The objective of this thesis was firstly to examine the possibilities of creating a universal tool for evaluating IT-security. When all the material was gathered we saw that we had strayed away from our subject and that our focus was on IT-threats and IT-professionals apprehensions and possibilities on the subject. The purpose of this thesis was there after to find and identify threats and counter measures in publications and later discuss these with IT-professionals. We found and identified several threats that the professionals encountered in their work. These threats ranged from techniques used by hackers to threats that can arise when the users on the network are poorly educated.

This examination work is about implementation of Cisco Systems Network Admission Control (NAC) within a leading IT-company in region of Jönköping. NAC is a technique that is used for securing the internal network from the inside. NAC can verify that the client who connects to the network has the latest Antivirus updates and latest operative system hotfixes. Clients who don?t meet the criteria can be placed in quarantine VLAN where they only have access to the update servers.

Användare kan känna sig säkra med de skydd som finns tillgängliga som exempel Antivirus och brandvägg men i och med att ansluta till ett publika nätverk kan en rad nya säkerhetshot uppstå i former av man-in-the middle attacker mot användaren.
