Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is an important but unusual cause of chronic respiratory disease of young dogs. The purpuse of this paper is to study and present internationally publicated papers on PCD in dogs and present three dogs, in which PCD was suspected. PCD has been reported in many dog breeds as well as in people. In dogs an humans, PCD is caused by inborn genetical defects which causes structural and functional abnormalities of cilia in the respiratory organs and other cilia in the body. Situs inversus occurs in about half the cases in people and probably in dogs as well. Respiratory signs usually predominate.

The object of this study has been to establish how language is used to present and establish a person?s identity. The studied language usage is that of renowned author Selma Lagerlöf and the language studied is that of her personal correspondence. This language picture is placed alongside the public depiction of her and a comparison of sorts is made. The chosen method has been to study Lagerlöf?sprivate correspondence and to compare her language markers in those to the literature history?s picture of her.

Bipolär sjukdom är en livslång sjukdom och livet tar en stor vändning, både för de somdrabbas samt de anhöriga. Det är av stor vikt för en sjuksköterska att kunna hantera ochstödja de anhöriga på ett bra sätt och genom att förstå de anhörigas upplevelser kan ettbättre stöd ges. Syftet med studien var att beskriva anhörigas upplevelser av att leva meden person som lider av bipolär sjukdom. Studien är litteraturbaserad och sju vetenskapligaartiklar har analyserats. Resultatet visade att de anhöriga upplevde att det dagliga livetpåverkas på olika sätt.

Since the care for the elderly is a low priority there are shortcomings. One of these shortcomings are that the elderly living in nursing homes do not feel that they have a meaningful existence. The aim of this study was to identify which factors could give the elderly residing in nursing homes a meaningful existence. The study was conducted through a review of existing literature with a systematic literature study. Scientific articles were found, read, analyzed and condensed.

Nano materials can today be found in a wide range of consumer products and the number of new products on the market is expected to inrease. In the shadow of hope for nano materilas potential in various applications, low awareness of its health and environmental risks is hiding. Furthermore, the knowledge about people´s risk perception of nano materials is limited. Parallel to the situation described above, the scholls meet the challenge of incrasing the scientific literacy. To achieve this goal, skills in argumentation in science studies has been emphasized and the concept of socio-scientific issues has been emerged.

Avatarer är vanligt förekommande i datorspel och används för nöjes skull men avatarer används även i seriösa spel. Rapporten undersöker hur en persons självkänsla och body image kan stärkas med hjälp av en avatar och vilka egenskaper avataren behöver ha. Undersökningen genomförs som en litteraturstudie. Slutsatsen är att det troligen går att skapa en avatar för detta ändamål, men att det är många aspekter att ta hänsyn till och att det inte är helt självklart vilka val som behöver göras. Viktigt verkar dock att användaren själv får välja sin avatar, att till exempel typen av klädsel påverkar liksom avatarens längd.

Därför är rökstopp det som ger absolut störst vinst gällande sjuklighet då det snabbt ger ett positivt resultat för luftvägarna. För många kan det vara svårt att sluta röka och för att kunna hjälpa dem är det viktigt att ta reda på vad personer med astma har för upplevelser av att sluta röka. Det finns få kvalitativa studier kring detta. Syftet med studien var att beskriva upplevelser av att sluta röka hos vuxna personer med astma.

This quantitative survey aims to highlight the impact of the meeting with the grief for customer advisers and representatives of funeral homes connected to the SBF (Sveriges Begravningsbyråers förbund). It also aims to demonstrate any differences between the sexes on this subject. Issues include: How does the person experience expectations and requirements in relation to their professional role? Does the person experience a personal impact due to the encounter with grief and death in their profession, in what way and to what extent? What consequences does the expectations, reactions and the possible impact result in for that person? What conditions does the person have to help cope with the professional role? Is there a gender difference in this experience? Bakgrund: Stroke är en av våra stora folksjukdomar och den tredje vanligaste dödsorsaken nästefter hjärtinfarkt och tumörsjukdom. Ett insjuknande i stroke medför stora konsekvenser i livet, inte bara för personer som insjuknat utan även för deras anhöriga. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva hur det är att vara anhörig till en person som för första gången insjuknat i stroke, och är utskriven från sjukhuset utan kommunala insatser. Metod: Datainsamlingen har genomförts med sju intervjuer som analyserats med en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Resultatet visade på olika känslor som intervjupersonerna upplevde den första månaden.

Fantasy literature has a rather strong position in countries with an English-speaking population but not in Sweden. The supply of fantasy in Sweden is much smaller than that in for example United Kingdom. Does this affect the Swedish readers of this genre? If it does, how does it affect them? The aim of this thesis is to find out how a few fantasy-reading students at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science get hold of the fiction they want to read and who and/or what influence their decision of which book to read. In order to avoid confusion we are also going to try to find out how they define fantasy since it varies from person to person what is included in the genre.

Cirka 150 000 personer drabbas av Alzheimers sjukdom i Sverige och en stor del av dem vårdas av sina närstående. Sjukdomen förändrar livssituationen både för den drabbade och för dennes familj. Syftet med studien har varit att beskriva närståendes upplevelser av att leva med en Alzheimerssjuk person, tolkat i ljuset av copingteorier, för förståelse av hur närstående lättare kan hantera svårigheter. Metoden utgår från en kvalitativ ansats med induktiv tematisk analys för biografier och analytisk induktion för intervju. I resultaten synliggörs närståendes förnekande vid tidiga tecken på sjukdomen, men sjukdomens ökande försämring leder så småningom till accepterande av sjukdomen.

One must consider cost effectiveness when deciding how resources within the health sector should be distributed. Quality adjusted life years (QALYs) are used to measure the value of different medical treatments. QALY is based on utility maximization theory, which suggests that a QALY is always a QALY regardless of who receives it. Therefore, a produced QALY is worth the same regardless of the age or the initial health of the patient. Previous research has shown that these assumptions do not seem to fit the real preferences of individuals.
