Homework is and has always been a part of school work. It may take a lot of time from the pupils? leisure. Despite this, you cannot find anything written about homework in the curriculum. How can this be? Is homework necessary and what is its function?The purpose of this study is to find out how a few teachers in primary school reason about homework.  What are their attitudes towards homework and what functions do they see?To get an answer to this I studied literature and research reports, and did four qualitative interviews with teachers who teach grades 1-6.The results show that all the teachers give homework to their pupils, but their opinions about homework differ.

Syftet med detta examensarbete var att undersöka hur elever utvecklar sitt kritiska och kreativa tänkande och sin förmåga att argumentera för sina åsikter. Min praktikklass utgjordes av 19 elever på gymnasiets Samhällsvetenskapliga program årskurs 2. Den mätmetod jag nästan uteslutande använt mig av är elevtextanalys och de bedömningskriterier jag använt mig av är 1) kritiskt tänkande ? att ?granska, pröva, jämföra, reflektera över, tolka, analysera, bedöma, ifrågasätta och värdera? 2) kreativa infallsvinklar ? att ?filosofera, förstå, fördjupa, utforska, utveckla, visualisera? 3) argumentationsförmåga ? att ?identifiera tes och argument?. Resultatmässigt visar eleverna upp ett ökat kreativt tänkande genom att i högre utsträckning utveckla perspektiv, se lösningar och skapa visioner.

The objective of this project was to develop an application for mobile phones using the Android operating system. The main goal was, with the help of GPS, to pinpoint locations, measure distance traveled and illustrate the progress on a map. Functionalities for just showing the map, fetching addresses and saving to a database was also implemented. The result of the work was a proper application, called MeasureApp, that fulfills the goals set in the planning stages of the project. MeasureApp can be used to measure distances where accuracy is not a main factor, i.e walks or runs.

This work is meant to contribute to the research of adaptation studies by focusing on a special case: the transformation of a fictional diary into a movie. In order to sustain the form of the literary source the adaptation to movie requires certain strategies. Först of all, the diary genre is characterized by a one-dimensional narration. Second, diaries only supply a few written dialogues, hence this "void" has to be compensated and filled by media specific measures. Third, the investigated diary is a story of individualization and emancipation of a single woman.

In 2009 transgendered persons were included in the Swedish law against discrimination. Prior to the inclusion a commission made an investigation of the necessity of such change in the law and how it could be designed. This essay focuses on the discourses regarding gender that appear in the law and the report written by the commission. Using theories by Judith Butler and discourse analysis inspired by Norman Fairclough it identifies two main discourses regarding gender: a two gender discourse and a queer discourse. The two discourses meet in the studied material in an antagonistic way, a conflict that is solved by separating the two and making one part of the law focus on gender and one on transgender.

This report is based on factors that has had affect on drugaddicts in their decission on quitting their abuse. The questions we have built our report on are: What external factors have had an impact on the drugabuser to end his or her drugabuse? What internal factors have had an impact on the drugabuser to end his or her drugabuse? Does the police have an influence on the drugabuser to end his or her drugabuse? The report is based on intervjues with former drugaddicts. We have also studied the theory of symbolic interactionism and litterature written by different authors to obtain a broad picture of drugabuse. Our results in this report show that the people we have intervjued have been influenced by many different factors and people in their enviroment.

This essay discusses immigrants? prospects of constructing an identity in a multicultural society like Sweden. The discussion is primarily theoretical but offers a few empirical examples to demonstrate its relevance. Furthermore, the ontological standpoint of this essay draws on an understanding of the world and our knowledge as constructed which implies that identities are also constructed. The process of identity making is further understood as a relational process in which others recognition is central to the individuals own understanding of his or hers identity.

This study investigates the curriculum for English in Gymnasium class 10 in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and compares it with the Swedish curriculum for English 5. A special focus it put on the politics that decide how the curriculum is written. The German and Swedish curricula for English are quite different, although they have some main points in common. The study includes a textual analysis and observations of English classes. Furthermore, nine teachers of English in Germany are interviewed about their views of the curriculum.

Sverige har sedan lång tid tillbaka tillämpat ett starkt samband mellan redovisning och beskattning. Den svenska inkomstbeskattningen av företag är konstruerad så, att det resultat som företagen redovisar även ligger till grund för beskattningen. I och med att den svenska redovisningen påverkas mer och mer av internationella redovisningsregler har det på senare år debatterats om detta starka samband ska finnas kvar i sin nuvarande form.Regeringen beslutade 2004 att tillsätta en utredning som skulle pröva hur sambandet mellan redovisning och inkomstbeskattning ska se ut i framtiden och utifrån detta ge förslag på skatteregler. Namnet på utredningen har varit ?Utredningen om sambandet mellan redovisning och beskattning?, även kallad ?SamRoB-utredningen?.

Tidigare amerikanska studier har visat att identifiering med ett politisk parti är viktigare för individen än de åsikter som partiet uttalar. Individen håller med representanter från sitt parti, oavsett om åsikten som uttalas inte är förenlig med partiets politik. I föreliggande studie testas dessa resultat i en svensk kontext (N = 89). Resultatet visade att deltagarnas åsikter gick i linje med deras politiska tillhörighet, och de påverkades inte av vilken åsikt deras parti uttalade. Studien kunde också visa att vänstersympatisörer ansåg att de baserar sin åsikt på en generell ståndpunkt, medan högersympatisörer ansåg att de baserade sin åsikt på specifika argument.

The argument whether women should drink alcohol during pregnancy, has been debated for centuries. Women's drinking behaviour throughout the ages is not a static phenomenon but has changed in compliance with the customs of the time. The purpose of this study was not to evaluate if alcohol damages the unborn child, but rather to explore how women, who have just given birth and hence have become mothers, looked at alcohol in relation to pregnancy and motherhood. To accomplish this we have used a qualitative method with a semi-structured interview guide. What has turned out to be central to our conclusions is the fact that though, in today's society, there is access to newly produced science reports concerning alcohol in connection to injuries to the foetus, it is our belief that the demands and expectations directed on the mother are dominant in this matter..

The purpose of this study was to find out how gender roles are described in two popular children?s detective stories, one of them written in 2002 and the other in 1946, to be able to compare the two. In order to do this, I used a qualitative research method in which I read and analyzed the text and illustrations of the books out of a gender perspective.I used gender theories describing how stereotypical gender roles are displayed, and these theories were later associated with the books I studied. I also used previous research concerning gender roles in other children's books in order to compare those results with my own.After having read, analyzed and compared the two books, I found vast resemblances between them, but also certain differences. However, it is obvious that the gender roles in both books for the most part are traditional.

Hur bör värdeförändringar på förvaltningsfastigheter redovisas? Denna studies syfte är att utreda vilken redovisningslösning som bäst lämpar sig för etablering av framtida praxis. Studien har avsett att få fram argument från tre företag som redovisar värdeförändringar på olika sätt. Intervjuer med revisorer och rådgivare har fördjupat diskussionen kring IFRS och då främst IAS 40. Studien pekar på att den lösning som bäst lämpar sig för etablering av praxis är redovisning av värdeförändringar inom rörelseresultatet.

This bachelor thesis is titled Who is an extremist?  - A qualitative content analysis of the agglutination of right- and left-wing groups and is written by Måns Hoffsten within the discipline of political science. This essay aims to illuminate in which way the Swedish government has tackled extreme forms of left-wing and right-wing activism during the period 1980 ? 2013. By looking at how governmental policy-suggestions and reports concerning extremism are formulated during this period this essay explores when and how the two groups first started to become a part of the same problem-representation and on what premises this is built.

The thesis has been written as a part of the Bachelor degree in Industrial engineering and management at the School of Engineering in Jönköping. The work is focused on the part of Husqvarna AB?s supply chain that is associated with the lorry transports to Italy. Husqvarna AB has approximately ten Italian customers, whose delivery patterns have been studied from January 2007 to July 2008. Some of the customers have a low delivery frequency and small amounts of goods that they therefore have not been fully analyzed in this report.
