The most common types of smartphones in Sweden are iPhone and Android. Development in the IT feld is constantly changing and Windows Phone is a new operating system that has been introduced on the Swedish market in 2010. However, Windows Phone user interface is quite different from iPhone and Android.The numbers of applications for smartphones are increasing, and users are making greater demands on better  usability. Users want the application to be easy to understand and fast to bring into play.  If the application contains a bug or has other user problems, it can ruin the entire experience. If the user does not have a good experience of the application, the user will quickly stop using the application.Companies that do not have any mobile applications would probably begin with an iPhone application.

With the huge amount of computers connected to the Internet the IP-addresses are starting to run out. The Internet Engineering Task Force, IETF, have decided that it is about time to exchange the old 32 bits Internet protocol, Ipv4, to a more modern 128 bits protocol called Ipv6. This thesis explores the possibility to install Ipv6 in different operating systems. By testing various operating systems and by set up criteria compare them to each other we give the reader a picture of how the installation is done. We also show which operating systems to prefer if you want to use IPv6.

Det nya internetprotokollet, IPv6 är annorlunda uppbyggt och har större header jämfört med dess föregångare IPv4. Denna rapport undersöker de två protokollens prestanda, avseende överföringskapacitet, jitter, paketförlust och CPU-belastning i operativsystemen Windows 7 och Ubuntu 10.10. Undersökningen genomfördes med hjälp av experiment och mätningar för att visa vilket protokoll och operativsystem som har bäst prestanda. Mätverktyget som användes är Iperf. Resultatet visar att det äldre protokollet presterar lite bättre än dess ersättare vid flertalet mätningar, såsom överföringskapacitet och paketförlust.

Den här rapporten undersöker om gränsen mellan Terminal Services och Citrix XenApp har börjat suddas ut eller om man ännu kan dra en tydlig linje mellan dessa. Detta för att avgöra om organisationer som idag kör Windows Server 2003 med Citrix XenApp enbart klarar sig med de nya funktionerna i Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services och ändå uppfylla de krav och behov en organisation har. Arbetet genomfördes rent teoretiskt. För att avgöra likheter och skillnader mellan applikationerna, så användes till största delen ett ramverk. För att kunna få en bild av hur applikationerna tillämpas rent praktiskt, användes tidigare testar samt analyser.

Kraftelektronik AB i Växjö tillverkar en spänningslikriktare som kan konfigureras enligt kundens önskemål. Fler människor börjar använda olika mobila operativsystem i mobiltelefonen samt appar som enbart fungerar på plattformen. Det leder till att app-leverantörer måste utveckla varje app till varje specifik plattform vilket är dyrt. De vanligaste operativsystemen som används idag är Android samt IOS men hösten 2012 släpptes Windows Phone 8 vilket innebär ytterligare en plattform att ta hänsyn till. I sammarbete med företaget Sogeti Jönköping fokuserar studien på att hitta en metod som gör det möjligt att migrera appar mellan plattformar och till Windows Phone 8. Studien innefattar också att identifiera för och nackdelar med olika app-typer genom en litteraturstudie och intervjuer samt att testa om migrationsmetoderna fungerar praktisk genom en implementation.Resultatet har påvisat att det finns två stycken olika metoder för migration vilket är PhoneGap och Xamarin.

This analysis recommends not to use Windows Server 2008 without properevaluation in any system containing classified information. The reasons are too lowassurance and too weak authentication. If Windows Server 2008 is to be used itshould be supplemented with a stronger authentication mechanism. En fallstudie tillämpades för att undersöka de inbyggda apparna, Internet Explorer 10, den nya utforskaren File Explorer och reparationsverktyget ?Återställ datorn utan att ta bort filer? i Windows 8. Analysen visade att apparna E-post, Kontakter och Meddelanden sparade större delar av användarens Facebook-profil lokalt på datorns hårddisk. När bildfiler öppnades upp med appen Foton sparades miniatyrbilder av originalet på hårddisken. När videofiler spelades upp med appen Video sparades filnamnet i filer.

This master thesis was performed at IdaInfront AB. The aim of the thesis was toinvestigate how the design principles ofthe user interface in Windows 8 can beapplied to a case management system. Theuser interface in Windows 8 is based ona design language called Metro and it isprimarily designed for touch screens.Ida Infront AB wanted to know whatpossibilities and limitations the Metrointerface offers.The study has resulted in a prototypeapplication that is developed in Windows8. The prototype shows how the Metrointerface can be applied on a casemanagement system. Some limitations inthe usability have been identified inthe Metro interface when applied to acase management system.

Store windows, as many earlier research studies indicate, is an important factor of the store atmosphere to attract customers into the store. In this study we have narrowed it down and chosen to focus on how different contexts of the store windows will effect customers' evaluation. The purpose is to find out how the context of high creativity and low creativity combined with different time aspect in store windows will affect store image, attitude, entering decisions and purchase intention toward the store. The results are based on a quantitative study where we did an experiment and a field study. The result shows that higher level of creativity is better than lower level of creativity in certain aspects.

Face-to-face communication is always complemented with non-verbal signals that give us clues as to how a message shall be interpreted, but as communication is moved online the possibilities to express oneself becomes more limited.This paper focuses on the instant messaging client Windows Live Messenger and three of the non-verbal functions that it provides (nudges, winks and emotes). The purpose of the paper and its underlying study is to compare the senders' intentions with the receivers' conceptions when it comes to these functions.The study was done as a questionnaire with two different versions of the questions, one looking at the senders' intentions and the other at the receivers' conceptions.The results were then compared in order to look for tendencies. The results showed that the most common intention among the senders was also the most common conception among the receivers, but that the rest of the attitudes didn't match at all. The functions that are supposed to help the conversation flow often create ambiguity instead and lead to vagueness, misconceptions and annoyance..

Beräkningskluster används exempelvis till vädersimuleringar eller produktsimulering. Microsoft HPC-kluster tillhandahåller två olika typer av beräkningsnoder var av den ena är Computenod, som körs med operativsystemet Windows Server 2008 R2, och den andra är Workstationnod, som körs med operativsystemet Windows 7.Arbetets syfte är att jämföra operativsystemen Windows 7 och Windows Server 2008 R2 för att se om de presterar likartat som en beräkningsnod. Detta avgörs med avseende på energieffektivitet samt hur de presterar i Linpack. Linpack är ett prestandaverktyg som mäter ett beräkningsklusters beräkningsförmåga i flyttalsoperationer per sekund. Studien utförs genom en experimentell metod.

Abstrakt: Studien har genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer undersökt nyckelaktörers beskrivningar av problembilder och åtgärder i dagens Seved samt skillnader mellan beskrivningarna. Intervjudeltagarnas svar d v s resultat av uppsatsens metod har analyserats utifrån social desorganisation-teorin samt broken windows-teorin. Studiens resultat visar: att det finns stöd för flertalet av de beskrivna problembilderna/åtgärderna i dagens Seved att kopplas till social desorganisations-teorin samt dess utveckling i form av kollektiv styrka-teorin. En del av broken windows-teorins problembild kan kopplas samman till nyckelaktörers beskrivningar medan åtgärderna till största del inte överensstämmer med broken windows. Mellan nyckelaktörer finns skillnader vilka kan förklaras genom att fler nyckelaktörer i större grad grundar sina problembilder utifrån social desorganisation och färre i broken windows-teorin.
