Live-weight at different ages for Swedish Holsteins (SLB) and for the Swedish Red and White Breed (SRB), and the correlation to heart girth and height at withers. The aim of this investigation was to study the live-weight changes and mature weight for the Swedish Red and White Breed (SRB) and for Swedish Holsteins (SLB), and to estimate the correlations between body weight and body measurements such as heart girth and height at withers, respectively. The material used was from one of the experimental dairy herds (Jälla) of the Swedish University of Agricultural Science. It included recordings on 293 dairy cows with information from 7142 weight occasions and recordings on 275 dairy cows with information of 557 heart girth measurements and 560 measurements of height at withers. The registrations were done during 1993-2002. There was a large variation in live weight between cows in different ages and lactation stages.

Using a quantitative method I studied 122 articles, and through a qualitative method four of these could be further analyzed to reach a deeper result. The theoretical perspective that was applied in this study was primary agenda-setting and framing theory, to illuminate the power of media. The result showed that a prominent theme was to present Sweden Democrats as racists.

This study examines how the American comic book industry?s output is addressing the issue of Islam and in which manner the portrayal of Islam in the great American comic book universes have changed since 2001. The comic books are examined from the postcolonial perspective as formulated by Chandra Mohanty and the power and resistance-perspective as formulated by Michel Foucault. Examination of the comic books reveals far greater focus on universal values, orthopraxy and inclusive perspectives than it does on dogmatic teachings, orthodoxy and sectarianism while at the same time partly relying on generalizations and archetypes concerning Islam. To change the power balance requires what I call intervention from the objective, that is to say that ambiguity regarding Muslim characters has to be eliminated by the narrative.

Who is the most typical woman in ELLE Sweden (2013)? In this study we investigated the typical woman represented in the Swedish fashion magazine ELLE (2013) for women. Does a typical woman exist in the magazine at all and if so ? in what words and roles is she described in? How is this woman perceived in relation to the male gender? Based on the theory of constructionism; that the gender (i.e. What is female versus male) is constructed in the society and that media has an affect on our physical and psychological well being as well as our behavior and thoughts, the investigation of the female gender representation in women magazines, was of great importance to us.

The purpose with this essay has been to describe and understand why youth community service became a penalty in Sweden. The political discourse in which youth community service was established has been analyzed with Laclau & Mouffe´s discourse theory. A social constructivist onset and a discourse analysis were the methodological tools of the essay. The result is two folded. Youth community service was created to strengthen the constitutional state, combined with high beliefs of the social services competence.

This thesis in Art History and Visual Science is about values to graffiti and graffiti artist Banksy. I have studied values relating to Banksy´s graffiti images through which context they are placed in and where they are located. I have selected two different images of Banksy as an example on the basis of a transnational phenomenon, where the images that circulate in the public arena by street art and other images and imported into the galleries and consumption market. My conclusion is that the values of the images are based on the context in which each room have its surroundings and that therefore the impression will increase. The public space context, signal availability and the white cube context indicates art, and the commercial context signals goods and items that can be bought.

The study examines medias impact on every day racism through Agenda Setting and Framing. Prior studies on the subject are either conducted from an American perspective, or are several years of age. In this study we highlight how todays media depicts our society and how it affects the concept of the world on an individual level. The study is a content analysis of the case study on the news stories ?The hunt for the unregistered immigrants?, which have been analyzed through critical discourse analysis.

The purpose of the essay is to investigate how the position of women and girls in society can lead to a valid infringement of the right to privacy (art. 8 ECHR) by allowing the storage of personal data belonging to people who have not been convicted of a crime. The essay uses the traditional legal method to determine the applicable law, but is also grounded in a feminist approach in order to enable an interaction between jurisprudence and societal phenomena. The essay revolves around Directive 2016/680 and relevant case law in order to analyze the set requirements to enable an infringement of the right to privacy. In order to be able to analyze whether the requirements can be met based on the need to prevent men?s violence against women and girls, the essay will also describe the life situations of women and girls in society. The essay argues that the conditions at hand fall under art.

In this thesis I analyse and discuss what impact the 2003 U.S lead intervention in Iraq, had for the cooperation against global terrorism between the European Union and the United States. Six years have passed since the Bush administration decided to go on with the intervention, even though they did not have the necessary UN mandate. Due to unsuccessful argumentation in favour of the intervention by the Bush administration, the world got divided. George W. Bush reference to a ?war on terror?, which passed almost unnoticed by Americans, rang alarm bells in many European countries.

The purpose of this study was to examine if there are common factors that lead to young people committing crimes according to professionals in social work, crime prevention and the police. The study also aims to examine if juveniles in Swedish suburbs commit more crimes, the consequences that follows and what actions socialworkers have for these juveniles. The study was conducted through qualitative interviews of five professionals in the area who were contacted from different units. In the analysis Goffmans (1971) theory of stigma was used and Goldberg's (2005) Conspiracy Theory. Some of the conclusions that could be drawn from the study was that there is not only one factor influencing young people to delinquency, but often combinations of different factors that lead to this.

This thesis examines the process of securitization of the environmental issue in the United States. By using the theories of sectoral security and securitization by Barry Buzan and Ole Waever, commonly known as the Copenhagen school we go beyond the traditional security frames and examine where the environmental issue in the United States stand today within the securitization spectrum. The securitizing spectrum includes three levels in which an issue can be place: non-politicised, politicised and securitized.The problem, which we wish to address, is if there is a movement of the environmental issue in the United States towards becoming a securitized issue. In the light of these circumstances we also wish to explore who is behind the movement and also find out where the issue stand today. We do believe that Al Gore is a securitizing actor and examine his role in the movement of the environmental issueWe have come to the conclusion that there is an ongoing process of securitization in which the environmental issue have moved from being politicised to becoming securitized..

Arbetet handlar om elever med ADHD inom särskolan i allmänhet och pedagogers uppfattningar om hur skolan bör arbeta med elever som har ADHD i synnerhet. Syftet med arbetet är med andra ord att belysa hur pedagoger talar om hur man bör arbeta med ADHD-problematiken i en skolmiljö. Arbetet baseras på intervjuer och i intervjuundersökningen framgick det att pedagogerna arbetade mycket individuellt och arbetet skedde dels i grupper av elever men även på en individuell basis sett ur ett elevperspektiv. Fyra pedagoger har uttalat sig i frågan och det är därför inte möjligt att dra några generella slutsatser angående hur särskolor arbetar med elever som diagnostiserats med ADHD, men detta till trots är det möjligt att bland dessa fyra skönja vissa samstämmigheter, t.ex. att de arbetar mycket med att upprätthålla dagliga rutiner samt att de tar till samma typer av hjälpmedel, bl.a. stora klockor, white-boards och tydliga scheman med visuella symboler..

Förekomsten av brott är ett stort problem i vårt samhälle och har stor inverkan på de enkla beslut som tas i vår vardag, exempelvis på valet av område att bosätta sig i. Historiskt sett har ansvaret för att förebygga brottslighet legat hos polisen och de enskilda hushållen men de kan inte allena lösa problemen med brottslighet, och följaktligen blir en bredare strategi för brottsförebyggande arbete nödvändig. Ett sätt att utforma säkerheten är genom arkitektur och kallas för Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED). Perspektivet avser att minska både möjligheter och rädslan för brott genom att utnyttja de möjligheter som finns att öka överblickbarheten, att ta vara på framtoningen av ett område och att stärka den territoriella känslan hos invånare i ett bostadsområde.Grunden för den teoretiska ramen kommer från artikeln Towards an Economic approach to Crime and Prevention (2002), och använder sig av de fyra begreppen som utvecklades av Clark och Homel (ökad ansträngning, en ökad risk, minska belöningar och minimera antalet potentiella ursäkter). Det finns mängder av litteratur som behandlar ett ekonomiskt angreppssätt på brottslighet, men det finns emellertid få ekonomiska bidrag vad gäller att förebygga brott, och ännu färre inom området för att utforma brottsförebyggande arkitektur.

Det ansågs intressant att se om det förelåg någon skillnad vad gällande motivation mellan arbetslösa och de med en tillsvidareanställning, då arbetslöshet bland annat kan påverka en individs motivation, självkänsla och identitet. Studien genomfördes som en enkätundersökning med frågor som avsåg att mäta människors känslighet för belöning och deras känslighet för bestraffning (BIS/BAS-skalan, se Carver & White, 1994). Enkäten delades ut på en arbetsförmedling och en arbetsmarknadsenhet för att nå personer utan arbete. Dessa personer matchades sedan mot individer med en tillsvidareanställning. Resultatet visade på att det fanns en skillnad mellan arbetslösa och de med en tillsvidareanställning gällande känslighet för belönande händelser och positiva reaktioner.
