It has become more and more common that companies in the service sector are beginning to understand their own effect on the environment and thus the need to contribute to a sustainable development through acting in a deliberate way. Serious environmental work can help a company to improve their image and in that way win competitive advantage that leads to improved profitability. In a short time perspective, adjustment to the environment is an opportunity to gain competitive advantage and an opportunity to develop a profile. In a long time perspective it is about survival. The environmental work has become a sequel to the work with quality.

TV-tekniken har gjort stora framsteg under 2000-talet. Digital TV-sändning har möjliggjort sändningar med fler ljudkanaler med högre upplösning. För att öka taltydligheten i TV-sammanhang används just flerkanalsljud då man implementerar en centerhögtalare istället för fantommitt. Denna uppsats undersöker vilka fördelar detta får för just taltydligheten. Ett lyssningstest genomfördes där subjekt dels fick bedöma uppfattbarheten i autentiska TV-reportage och dels fick sin egen förmåga att uppfatta tal satt på prov i ett Tal I Brus-test.

Antologin består av tre bidrag som studerar betydelsen av arbete och arbetslöshet ur olika perspektiv. Två av de tre bidragen inriktar sig på lastbilschaufförer och privatrådgivares upplevelser av deras arbeten. Det tredje bidraget fokuserar på hur det är att vara ung och leva utan arbete, samt vilka konsekvenser det får för individen. I anslutning till våra frågeteman rörande arbete och arbetslöshet har vi genom mindre omfattande fältarbeten och kvalitativa intervjuer samlat in material till studien, som därefter analyserats med hjälp av Grundad teori-metoder. Analysen av materialet har bidragit till att olika teorier kring bland annat livsvillkor, sociala interaktion med andra, samt arbetsrelaterad stress, blivit centrala för antologin.

Barn har olika rädslor och bemästringsstrategier beroende på vilken ålder och utvecklingsfas de befinner sig i. De kan uppleva sjukhus som något hotfullt och skrämmande. Tidigare forskning på barns rädslor har ofta besvarats av andra än de själva vilket har visats sig ge en felaktig bild av deras sjukhusupplevelse. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva vad barn hade för rädslor i samband med vård på sjukhus och hur de försökte bemästra dem. En litteraturstudie har gjorts baserat på tio kvalitativa studier där barn mellan 3-18 år har intervjuats.

Chile and Santiago are struggling with heavy environmental problems as a consequence of urbanisation and industrialisation. In the Santiago region the air is seriously contaminated and most of the rivers are classified as heavily polluted.The aim of this thesis is to survey the industrial fluid waste situation in the Santiago region and to make suggestions on technological improvements or process changes. The purpose is also to study five different enterprises more closely and to give more detailed suggestions for improvement. Another purpose is to summarize relevant Chilean legislation.Information, provided by the supervisory authority, about the release of industrial wastewater to rivers has been analysed. Deep interviews have been made with authorities and consultants.

The focus of this thesis is upon how conceptions of globalization is created by the labour-organizations Lands-organisationen (LO) and Svenskt Näringsliv. It is possible to discern two arguments for globalization in the texts, economy and democracy, and it is around these that the discourses of globalization are being constructed. Economy turns into a basic logic in the discourses of globalization. How to perceive the role of economy, as positive or negative, differs. Still, there is an agreement of the influence of economy.

Ungefär en tredjedel av maten som produceras i världen slängs. I Sverige slängs över 1,2 miljoner ton mat varje år. En stor del av det är så kallat matsvinn, onödigt matavfall som skulle kunna använts om den hanterats annorlunda. Matsvinn påverkar miljön och samhällsekonomin med förluster genom hela livsmedelskedjan och genom den avfallshantering matsvinnet ger upphov till. Matavfall kan användas för produktion av biogas, kompost och värme men det är bättre att reducera produktionen än att återanvända eller omvandla produkten. Svenska skolkök slänger runt 30 000 ton mat varje år, varav drygt hälften beräknas vara matsvinn.

The number of locals in Stockholm who chooses the bike in front of public transport has increased significantly in recent years. The product purchaser of this project, Joakim Victorin at Sigma AB, has a keen interest in cycling, which resulted in a fairly obvious topic of this project; through a web application Sigma AB wanted to make it possible to handle results from professional as well as amateur competitions in cycling.The purpose of this web application is to simplify reporting and handling of competition for both small and bigger bicycle races. By providing the users of the system a platform independent client, any available device may be used.This thesis has followed the development principles which prevail on the ASP .NET MVC 3 concept. When developing the system the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 development environment was used. The framework and the pattern of ASP .NET MVC 3 is a prominent part of today?s web development.

Proteins are vital to all cells in the body. They consist of long chains of amino acids. To be able to study the amino acid composition of a protein it is necessary to hydrolyse it, followed by separation and quantification. When the protein is hydrolysed, in this case ß-lactoglobulin, the protein is divided into individual amino acids. The method that traditionally has been used to hydrolyse proteins takes 24-72 hours to complete.

Pappersmakulatur uppstår i tryckpressarna, men orsakerna finns i företagets alla funktioner. För ett framgångsrikt förbättringsarbete med att minska makulaturen krävs därför att all personal är engagerad.Examensarbetet utfördes på Bobergs Tryckeri AB i Falun, ett familjeägt företag med 60 anställda, som producerar personifierad direktreklam och blanketter. Syftet var att undersöka hur pappersmakulaturen kan minska och målet var att hitta orsaker samt ge förslag på åtgärder för att minska den.Genom intervjuer med personalen kartlades produktionssprocessen och utifrån det utarbetades förbättringsförslag. Exempel på förbättringsförslag är att kontinuerligt mäta och rapportera makulaturen, förbättra kommunikationen mellan avdelningarna och utveckla färgstyrningen. Litteraturstudier och kontakter med nyckelpersoner inom branschorganisationer och andra liknande företag, var till stor hjälp i arbetet.

Visualiseringen involverar samtliga av de ovan na?mnda parterna i skapandet av en ny mo?tes- plats i ett medialt kategoriserat miljonprogramsomra?de.

In this work an assessment of the compressed air system in the facilities of Vattenfall Heat Uppsala has been conducted. The facilities constitutes, among others, a combined heat and power plant, and two waste incineration plants. The compressed air is supplied primarily by seven rotary screw compressors and yearly electric energy consumption in these has been determined. Furthermore, the usage of compressed air has been mapped in order to find processes with energy savings potential. Several suggestions how to reduce the usage of compressed air have been presented, resulting in decreased need of electric energy and reduced CO2-emissions.The results show that total need of electric energy in the compressors, during a standard production year, amounts to 5.83 GWh.

Varje dag fattas beslut som kan komma att förändra människors liv. Årligen berörs omkring 50 000 barn av föräldrars separation där cirka 7000 av fallen leder till en vårdnadstvist som löses i tingsrätten. Familjerättens utredning blir ofta avgörande för domstolsbeslutet om vem som tillskrivs vårdnaden över barnet. Följande studie fokuserar på att ur ett deskriptivt beslutsteoretiskt perspektiv finna vilka faktorer som influerar bedömningsprocessen med fokus på könsdiskriminering och presentationsordningseffekt, alltså huruvida ordningen av föräldrarnas utsaga påverkar bedömningen. För att undersöka hur individen blir påverkad i sitt beslutsfattande fick en deltagargrupp med högskolestudenter läsa ett vårdnadstvistfall där modern och faderns utsaga presenteras för att sedan ta ställning till bland annat vilken förälder de ansåg vara mest trovärdig.

The aim of my study is to illuminate the borders, both spatial and aspatial, that are drawn around Europe in swedish politics by using the word in question in different ways. To increase my possibilites of comparing different concepts of Europe, I have chosen to restrict my study toFolkpartiet and Vänsterpartiet, which are the two swedish parties who seem to stand the furthest from each other on issues regarding Europe and the EU. Using theory on borders and bordering, I construct an analytical framework consisting of a separation of three categories of entities, around which borders can be drawn. In my search for both obvious and implicit ways of filling the word Europe with content, I find that both parties speak of Europe in a highly contradictory way, which both includes and excludes peripheral regions of a geographical Europe. My second conclusion is that both parties tend to associate Europe with things that are positive to them.
