Background: Pervious research indicates that communication between patient and nurse has shortcomings. For the nurse, difficulties in care giving may emerge when the nurse and patient cannot understand each other. Research also shows that patients? participation in their care become more difficult by lack of communication. The care giving of patients who speak a different language is seen as a challenge by the nurse.

Previous reaserch has indicated that the almoners position in the somatic hospital hierarchy is poor. The purpose of this study was to investigate the position of the almoner in the hospital hierarch today, together with what this position is based upon.The questions at issue were:- Has the almoners position in the hospital hierarchy changed, or is it still poor?- In what way can the almoners position in the hospital hierarchy be explained?In order to get answers to our questions at issue, we interviewed totally 13 persons from the three chosen professional categories, i e four almoners, five doctors and four nurses. Two of the doctors worked at care centres and the other doctors worked in hospitals within the Region Skåne. The interview material was analysed from the concepts of Pierre Bourdieus; field and symbolic capital and by means of ideas from the closing theory.

Falls and fallinjuries are very common in peoples own homes in various institutions. Hospital inpatients often fall during daytime in connection with their visit to the toilet. Visual impairment such as cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy can cause falls. The purpose of this study was to examine patient´s records where falls and fallinjuries were documented at an emergency clinic and to examine if they were registered to visual impairment. The records from 68 hospital inpatients from the age of 65 years and older who did fall during the year of 2004, were examined.

Palliativ vård benämns ofta som vård vid livets slutskede och förekommer i hemmet, på hospice, palliativa enheter eller sjukhus. År 2003 avled ca 35 000 personer av 80 000 avlidna på sjukhus i Sverige. Palliativ vård är en komplex omvårdnadssituation då sjuksköterskor behöver bemöta såväl patientens som de närståendes behov. Närstående har behov av ett individuellt anpassat stöd och önskar mer information och delaktighet i vården. Kommunikationen kan för sjuksköterskorna upplevas som svårt och stressande.

Physiotherapists treat people with different views of the world and medical beliefs, which require a good understanding of cultural differences. One way to achieve cultural understanding is through self-reflection in a new context. During five weeks the authors, two physiotherapy students, completed a clinical practice at the rehabilitation center Pina Palmera, Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico. At the beginning of the period a critical incident was chosen, when the head physiotherapist for the ward Cuidados Especiales intended to sell jewellery to the authors during a treatment of a patient. The authors have by using the reflection framework "Framework to guide reflective process", and Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) for analysis, discussed different ways of communication, adherence, education, and self-reflection and critical thinking.

This thesis takes its starting point in the humanistic cultural-geographical concept of place, with the aim of achieving a greater understanding of what constitutes the place Mon today. Mon is located in the northwestern part of Dalsland. Until 1879, the area was described as outlying land, but with the extension of the railway between V?nern and the Norwegian border, Mon's station community emerged. In the mid-20th century, all activities in Mon were phased out, and since then, the place has been inhabited by only about 10 year-round residents.

INTRODUCTION: Attempted suicide is very common. Those who arrive to a hospital by reason of attempted suicide need a nurse with qualifications in the care of suicidal patients. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to compile and elucidate research which describes how patients in care for their attempted suicide experience the care that is received. METHOD: A literature review was chosen for this study. Scientific articles sought in the database CINAHL.

Flera forskare anser att bloggen är ett verktyg som har god pedagogisk potential i skolan (Clyde 2005; Ray 2006; Ward 2004). Syftet med studien ?Gå in på bloggen så får du se ditt barn som gör ditten och datten?- en studie av bloggen som pedagogiskt verktyg i skolan är att undersöka hur lärare i grundskolans tidigare årskurser använder sig av klassbloggar samt hur de resonerar kring användandet av bloggen i skolan. Vår teoretiska utgångspunkt grundar sig i ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på lärande. En kvalitativ undersökning genomfördes i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer med lärare i Ystad kommun.

Snart kan alla göra privata rymdresor. Då detta är en helt ny äventyrsindustri uppstår också helt nya krav på de kläder som kan användas vid träning och genomförande. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur material och dess funktion samt estetiska aspekter kan förenas i ett textilt uttryck avsett för dessa extrema förhållanden. Genom intervjuer med äventyraren och kommande resenären Renata Chlumska, Spaceport Swedens VD Karin Nilsdotter och hållbarhetsansvarig Johan Ward från H&M definierades en kravspecifikation som fick ligga till grund för uppsatsen. Kraven för de kläder som ska bäras under själva rymdresan är ej ännu definierade, varför det i slutsatsen endast redovisas kläder som kan komma att användas vid träningen inför resan.

Patienter som är inlagda på vårdavdelningar på sjukhus har olika upplevelser av rummets utformning och inredning. Vår erfarenhet är att patientrum har vita väggar, textilier med diskreta färger och inga tavlor. Vad kännetecknar en utformning och inredning som är hälsobringande för patienten? En omgivning som människor är tillfreds med skapar balans i tillvaron och stärker det psykiska välbefinnandet och den fysiska hälsan. En viss form av arkitektur kan också bidra till uppkomsten av stress.

The aim of this essay is to investigate the function and development of non-player characters (NPC) in the TV/computer game Dragon Age: Origins. The NPCs are analysed in order to see if their development is affected by the player character?s (PC) background and interactions. The game?s ethics is also investigated by studying how the NPCs treat the PC and what significance they give to his background and actions.The results show that the NPCs are affected by the PC?s interactions, and furthermore, that they are round characters, which is unusual in TV/computer games.

Syfte: Studiens syfte var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av gåronden med fokus påinformation, patientens integritet och delaktighet.Metod: Deskriptiv design med kvalitativ ansats. Åtta omvårdnadsansvariga sjuksköterskor påtvå kirurgavdelningar intervjuades. Datainsamlingen gjordes med semistrukturerade intervjuersom bearbetades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys.Resultat: Information var en stor del av gåronden och kunde både lyfta och sänka gåronden.Patienternas delaktighet och möjlighet till ett eget val beskrevs. Sjuksköterskorna beskrev hurpatienternas integritet kan både bevaras och kränkas under gåroden samt vilka fel somuppkommer.Diskussion: Sjuksköterskorna upplevde att information till patienterna som de förstod var enviktig del av gåronden. Att bevara patienternas integritet under gåronden ansågs varavårdpersonalens uppgift och i många fall enbart sjuksköterskornas.

Title: The nurse's dilemma in psychiatric inpatient care - a balancing act between good and evil Objective: To describe the nurse's experience of relieving patient suffering caused by coercive measures on a closed psychiatric ward . Frame of reference : The results are discussed in light of Eriksson´s theory of suffering and caring relationships Method: A qualitative analysis based on focus group discussions Results: The analysis resulted in six categories, to protect the patient , to involve the patient , not to lose control , to remain , to justify compulsion , and to be touched . The results showed that nurses had the experience of being able to relieve the suffering of patients caused by coercive measures. It was also found that the nurses had a tendency to justify coercive measures , the more experience they had of performing these . Conclusion: The results describe that nurses have the experience and knowledge of how to relieve patients' suffering caused by coercion but also their experiences of performing these .

Background: ?Transitional care? is a new form of care in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Sweden. The level of care, between outpatient and inpatient, has been developed to meet children/adolescents and their families in a different way than in the traditional outpatient and inpatient treatment. The contact offered can be intense with frequent contact and also with more time set aside for every occasion. The nurse, who is one of the categories of personnel involved in the multidisciplinary team works largely in other contexts than in the therapy room at the clinic or on the ward.

The aim of the study was to describe how anaesthetic nurses, within both advanced beginner and expert levels, experience their professional role as they perform a general anaesthetic.The study had a descriptive design with a qualitative approach in which ten advanced beginners- and ten expert anaesthetic nurses from an operating theatre and an ambulatory surgical ward at a hospital located in the middle of Sweden, participated. All data was collected in an interview with semi-structured questions which focused on how the anaesthetic nurses experience their work. The data were analysed with qualitative content analysis. The results are presented in categories and themes. The themes were formed from the categories.
