With the expansion onto the international market almost a decade ago, Swedish energy corporation Vattenfall began it's breaking and burning of coal on German soil. Criticism aimed at Vattenfall peaked in the mid 2000s with the revelation of large quantities of carbon dioxide emissions and the re-location of villages and graveyards in German states Brandenburg and Saxony. The purpose of this thesis is to show where the responsibility for these activities lie. By analyzing the history of, and the political debate surrounding, Vattenfall, I will show that the prevailing policies of right- as well as left-wing parties in the 20th century were all, regarding this matter, market oriented. I will also show that these market promoting policies made possible a situation where the transparancy of, and state control over, Vattenfall were close to eliminated.

Som en del av forskningsprojektet Young Operator 2020 så syftar den här studien till att vara ett första steg mot en produkt, som med hjälp av av tekniken augmented reality ska vara en del av framtidens tillverkningsindustri. Studien utgår från kognitionsvetenskap och människa-datorinteraktion för att ha användaren och användarens interaktion med prototypen i fokus. Eftersom olika typer av användare kan behöva olika saker av ett system, kommer den här studien också att utgå från teorier om kompetensnivåer. Ett system som är användbart för exempelvis en novis behöver inte nödvändigtvis vara användbart för en expert. En prototyp har skapats som en del av ett annat projekt och den utgår från det arbetssätt som operatörer på Volvo GTO i Skövde har idag.

Problemformulering: Hur påverkas ett företags avkastning, tillväxt och soliditet, i takt med attbranschen blir mer riskutsatt? Förändras väsentligheten i att titta påföretags soliditetsmått när en bransch blir mer riskfylld?Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att genom en fallstudie av VolvoPersonvagnar - verksamt inom den globala bilindustrin - undersöka hurett företags soliditet och avkastning förändras i takt med att branschengenomgår en förändring mot att bli mer riskfylld. Studien ämnar ocksåundersöka om väsentlighet finns och förändras i att använda soliditetsom ett analysmått sett ur ett investerarperspektiv, när branschergenomgår en förändring.Metod: Uppsatsen är baserad på en Fallstudie av Volvo Personvagnar. Studiensansats är utvärderande med ett analytiskt tillvägagångssätt. Vi harantagit ett hermeneutistiskt synsätt, vilket innebär att vi studerar falletutifrån egen förståelse och studerar både detaljer och helheten.Studien är explorativ, vilket innebär att man på förhand inte medsäkerhet vet allt man skall undersöka.

Vilka effekter ger särskilda insatser till personer som är uppsagda till följd av varsel? Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka effekterna på återgång till arbete av extra-insatta utbildningar som syftade till omställning vilka fanns tillgängliga för de som varslades vid Volvo Cars och dess underleverantörer 2008/2009. Effektutvärderingen utgår ifrån överlevnadsanalys där projektgruppen matchas mot en kontrollgrupp bestående av samtliga övriga varslade i Sverige. Resultaten visar att gruppen som tog del av utbildningsinsatserna hade signifikant långsammare återgång till arbete jämfört med en matchad kontrollgrupp..

LKAB is an international high tech mineral corporation and a world leading manufacturer of refined ironore products for steal manufacturing and other mineral products destined other industries. LKAB is an international corporation with companies world wide, with it?s main location in the north of Sweden, which is where the iron ore mines and the refining works are located. LKAB?s iron refining process in Vitåfors, Malmberget, is a source of great amounts of waste-rock.

The term CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is frequently discussed today. Many large companies work actively with CSR related questions. However, few empirical studies exist on what this work entails and why it is undertaken. Instead, most of the academic research focuses on what the term itself should mean. To bridge this gap this study centers on the employees? perceptions of CSR.

The accounting information system comprises budgeting, accounting, and costing. The accounting information system has, traditionally, constituted an integrated system where the different elements collaborate. If ABC is introduced this order is disturbed, since ABC is based on another logic which cannot easily be integrated with budget and accounting. ABC, therefore, is usually used parallely to the conventional costing method. There are, however, companies that have taken its ABC one step further by letting it replace the old costing model and integrate it with the accounting information system.

Examensarbetet inleddes med en förstudie där olika förbättringsområden inom organisationen identifierades. Kommunikation i praktiken kan liknas vid ett förstärkningsverktyg vilket påverkar de vanligaste faktorerna för ett lyckat förändringsarbete. Idag måste en ledare och chef vara kommunikativ och det fungerar inte längre med att peka med hela handen. Medarbetarna måste förstå sin chef och ledare och det måste finnas ett samspel mellan dem. För att chefer och ledare ska styra förändringsprocessen behövs kommunikation.Syfte med examensarbetet är att undersöka hur kommunikationsprocessen kan användas som styrmedel mot en social förändring.

Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is a genre of computerized systems which allows system development corporations to efficiently and more easily manage, maintain and handle the applications lifecycle. These ALM systems have a wide variety of tools which can be integrated to enable and support collaborative work, while they act at the core of the organisation. Todays ALM systems support flexible system development methods throughout the entire development process. This paper focuses on a case-study of a Swedish business- and technology corporation and their use of two ALM systems with an aim to unravel the differences between these systems and their functionality to serve as a basis for decision making regarding their utilization of best practice with their ALM-Systems. Meanwhile we studied their approach to ALM systems to see if they were using them according to the initial idea of ALM systems.

The Volvo Trucks plant in Umeå is a highy complex manufacturing facility where the same production line handles a variety of different models. This require flexible and agile processes with high quality standards. This thesis studies the flow of material through a production line and how Volvo can use their existing manufacturing monitoring system to optimize the flow of materials.The goal with the thesis is to identify eventual problems with the flow of materials and to deliver a few proposals on how the production line can improve its productivity. The theory of LEAN, Just-In-Time and Supply Chain Management serves as the scientific reference to this project. By analyzing the flow of material, performing interviews and observing the processes a few problems are identified.

How is the packaging system adapted to transport efficiency and handling?Objective To create an overall picture over how the packaging system affects and is affected by different functions and players within and beyond the company boundaries, to give a clear picture of how changes in the packaging system is made today and how it could work and finally to give suggestions for cost savings affected by the packaging system.Method The methods used for this thesis has mainly consisted of action research and at some extent case studies. As a previous employee at the department of logistics at Volvo Penta I?ve taken part of the environment, information and prerequisites that this thesis discusses on a daily basis. Case studies have been used for the collection and analysis of data concerning packaging logistics as I?ve chosen to consider only specific markets and packaging.Conclusions This thesis has highlighted the demands that are placed upon engine packaging throughout all concerned units and how these demands affect each other, positively and negatively.

Detta är ett examensarbete vid Karlstad Universitet vårterminen 2013. Arbetet omfattar 22,5 hp, fakulteten för hälsa teknik- och naturvetenskap, högskoleingenjör inom maskinteknik. Arbetet har utförts på Volvo Penta AB Varafabriken i Västergötland. Volvo har ett behov att se över sin layout över fabriken och de interna materialflödena. Deras layout är gjord efter förutsättningar som rådde för 10 år sedan. En hel del förändringar har skett sedan dess och med ett nytt materialtänk som bygger på Lean-filosofin med bland annat minskade materialfasader, supermarkets och omplock.Fokus i arbetet ligger på att minska den tunga gaffeltruckskörningen i fabriken.

Innovation handlar om processen för att samla in, utveckla, förenkla samt kommersialisera en idé (Mclean, 2005). Kreativitet och innovation kommer endast att ske sporadiskt om det inte finns en stödjande organisationskultur och tydliga processer för det (Malaviya & Subhash, 2005). Ett idéhanteringssystem hjälper organisationen att använda mänskliga resurser mer effektivt genom att se till att individer från hela organisationen kan bidra till innovationsarbetet (Lamont, 2004). Volvo CE är ett globalt ledande företag inom tillverkningsindustrin och verksamt inom maskiner till byggindustrin. På grund av den hårdnande globala konkurrensen har företaget under de senare åren jobbat mer fokuserat med innovationsarbete.
