Reliability of supply will become increasingly important in the future and it is therefore important to investigate factors affecting the failure rates in electrical components.Sweden was hit by several severe storms during the 00?s. As a result of this many overhead lines in forests were cablified. In urban areas underground cable systems have been the norm for many years.

Detta examensarbete är utfört vid brytarenheten i Ludvika, den del av ABB Power Technologies High Voltage Products som utvecklar, tillverkar och säljer högspänningsbrytare. Brytare är en av de ingående delarna i ett ställverk och har till uppgift att bryta respektive sluta spänningen i ett kraftnät. Eftersom brytarna placeras ute i samhällen och vid olycka skulle orsaka stora skador är det viktigt att arbeta med kvalitet. Detta sker genom att alla producerade brytares funktion säkerställs med hjälp av en rutinprovning före leverans till kund. Syftet med examensarbetet är att genomföra ett förbättringsprojekt för att identifiera faktorer som påverkar brytarenhetens First Pass Yield, ett mätetal i rutinprovningen.

The global biodiversity loss is mainly due to human activities such as an intensification of forestry. Boreal forest ecosystems in Fennoscandia are characterized by disturbances such as forest fires, storms and floods. However, industrial forestry practices suppress forest fires and change the landscape, leading to a loss of habitats and associated species. Particularly lichen species with slow adaptation abilities and a strong substrate specificity face an extinction debt in boreal forests since their substrates are long-lived but no longer created. Klimatologiska och tekniska faktorer kräver korrekt dimensionering och anpassning av omvandlingstekniken för att största möjliga energimängd skall kunna omvandlas på ett driftsäkert och energieffektivt vis som vindkraftsägare, nätägare kräver. Vinden är som bekant en oberäknelig kraftkälla. Variationerna i styrka och tid kan innebära en hel del driftoptimeringsproblematik med efterverkningar för vindkraftsverket, nätet och belastningen. Konsekvenserna kan bero på vilken typ av teknik som är installerad i de olika delarna av energisystemet och i områdets elnät.

Aspen (Populus tremula L.) and goat willow (Salix caprea L.) are two important tree species in the aspect of nature conservation. Due to the elimination of forest fires, a former negative attitude towards deciduous trees in forestry and a strong herbivore pressure, these tree species have been negatively affected during the last fifty years. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the occurrence of aspen and goat willow could be related to either human impact or to site properties, such as ground moisture and vegetation type. A side study included an inventory of a number of cyanobacterial tree lichens on aspen and goat willow in order to try to relate the occurrence of these lichens species to stand history and stand properties. The study was performed in Hamra State Forest in northern Dalarna. Nature reserves were compared with stands in managed areas.

Developments in milk production are heading towards fewer but larger herds where the milking process is often fully automated. Automatic milking systems were launched in the 1990?s and in the year 2010 the Automatic Milking Rotary (AMR) was introduced. As a rule there are no supervision personnel present during the milking event in systems with automatic milking. This means that there is a risk that cows can be incompletely milked in one or more udder quarters, for example if the robots fail in attaching the milking cups or if the cow kicks off the milking unit.

Uppsala stad genomgår en stor förtätning och den urbana karaktären breder ut sig i allt större skala. Ett område i stadens östra del mellan stadsdelarna Sala backe och Årsta står inför en omfattande exploatering. På en yta motsvarande 80 hektar ska 2500 nya lägenheter och olika serviceinrättningar byggas. Satsningen på nya parker i samband med exploateringen är begränsad till endast en ny kvarterspark. Med ett öppet åkerlandskap utanför stadsgränsen och en dålig variation av parker innanför, är bristen på kvalitativa grönområden stor i denna del av staden.

The purpose of this thesis is to show how a good approach can be designed, focusing on the southern approach to the Swedish town Vilhelmina. Prior to the car being part of everyday life, the approach was a road where the town showed itself from the very best side. When the amount of traffic increased, so did noise and other disturbances, and as a consequence industrial areas replaced the residential buildnings at the approaches. Today, the pendulum is turning back and in recent years the approach is regarded as a place to introduce the town. The approach is also the place where cars should slow down from the speed of the main road to the speed of the city.

Lantmännen Agroetanol has two production lines which produces feed. Both lines lead to six silos, used as inventory of finished goods. The feed from the two production lines differ in terms of quality, where as Lantmännen Agroetanol wants to separate their finished inventory in order to charge a higher price, by selling the better product as a premium. With two different feed products the yearly revenue is expected to increase which motivates a research about the current capabilities and necessary changes to be made in the factory.

With a larger awareness of the climate changes and increasing electricity prices, energy efficiency measures in the industry have become more common. By rationalize the activity and by the same time decrease the emission of greenhouse gases the company can both save money and reduce negative environmental impact. For the Swedish industries the electricity price have traditional been relative low, which has resulted in a considerable larger usage than other European countries. By a deregulation of the European electricity market the electricity price will level off between the countries, which will cause a higher electricity price in Sweden than we are use to. To prevent that the Swedish industry don?t lose competitiveness against the other European countries, it will require energy efficiency activities in all different forms.ABB Sweden has decided to decrease their total energy usage with five percent in two years.

A new Swedish political approach to forestry was initiated 1993, that put goals of production and environmental issues into equal importance to Swedish Forestry Law. Earlier nature conservation very often declaimed preservation the best way to conserve nature, but recently it is clear that many highly biological values are due to former land use or disturbance. Many old pastures or cultivations dominated by deciduous trees are today characterized by a dense overgrowth of Norway spruce. By actively paying attention to nature in forestry (nature restoration), it is possible to partly reconstruct habitats or disturbances that are necessary to favour the biological values. The aim with this master thesis is to study the nature restoration, (NS, Swedish abbreviation), performed in 11 forest sites in the middle of Sweden 8-14 years ago. Since NS recently have become applied, it has never yet been evaluated.
