This report describes the initial work intended for updating the car sharing service Roadmate. Roadmate is one of the services received by the car rental company Hertz First Rent a Car. The goal was to present the client with design- and structure proposals for a car sharing service that includes high usability and at the same time remains aesthetically pleasing.The work is based on an initial study with data collection, mapping the target user group and its needs. Subsequent structural and design proposals for Roadmates company carpooling service are based on the facts surrounding the target group's needs. The result are well developed and tested design sketches with accompanying visual identity and sitemaps that can be the basis for the further work on the development of the service..

Computerized methods for searching pictures are becoming more common. With these it ispossible to make powerful search requests using a combination of terms and search oncomprehensive descriptions of the pictures. The descriptions can encompass various aspectsof the content and allow different interpretations and levels of detail.This essay is about how you can examine and describe the content of a picture from manypoints of view. We have tried to identify differences in searching behaviour, and studiedsome methods for indexing of pictures. IKEA har under hösten 2006 utfört en egen undersökning av deras webbplats, www.ikea.se. En del av syftet blir således att resultatet skulle kunna fungera som ett bra komplement till den undersökningen. Vårt sätt att genomföra detta grundar sig på en kvalitativ studie genom observationer och efterföljande intervjuer med ett antal testpersoner. Enligt teorier hämtade från området för användbarhet och webbdesign påverkar områdena struktur, navigering, länkar, design/layout, information, text, bild och färger möjligheten till en god webbplats, dessa begrepp fungerar även som en utgångspunkt för vår datainsamling. IKEAs vision är att ?skapa en bättre vardag för de många människorna?, därför tycker vi att det är av största vikt att även deras webbplats är funktionell och användbar för den svenska populationen.

För att undersöka detta problemområde har litteratur om filmhistoria och kamerateknik använts för att sammanfatta kunskap om hur kameran skall användas, för att förmedla relevant information och bygga upp den effekt som regissören strävar efter. Informationen utifrån detta har därefter tjänat som utgångspunkt för att skapa en kort animerad film med rymdtema där kameran eftersträvar att leverera en konkret visuell upplevelse där vinklar används för att understryka vad varje scen vill förmedla.

This thesis was performed at SverigeGrepen AB. SverigeGrepen is a company that hasone product on the market; a manure fork that is designed to be used for mucking inshavings or peat. The aim of this thesis was to develop a new manure fork that isadapted to be used in straw.The development started with a pilot study where experience of mucking wascollected to be able to understand what and why certain characteristics are importantfor the function and use of the manure fork.A basic concept was developed where the main function was fulfilled, which meantthat a separation between dung and straw could be performed in a way that wasbeneficial for the user.The work resulted in four concepts of how a manure fork could be used in the strawthat can be designed and constructed. The conclusion that the work gave was that allconcepts met the main requirements required by a manure fork to use in straw.However, concept four provides a good visual impression, while its benefits areassumed to be important qualities..

This thesis investigated if a combination of increased under colour removal (decreasing the total ink limit), normal andincreased density and modern FM-screening could be used to provide a visually better print on uncoated and coated paperin comparison with AM-screening using the same conditions.Two different test groups (one with graphic background, the other with no graphic background) were asked to a visuallyassess the quality of the prints presented in a pair comparison using a reference image.The results show that the FM-screening did not obtain any significant visual difference in comparison with AM-screening,regardless of paper types and density levels. Introduktion: Regionalt cancercenter (RCC) har i samarbete med Sveriges kommuner och landsting (SKL) beslutat att varje patient med en cancerdiagnos ska bli tilldelad en kontaktsjuksköterska.Syfte: Att undersöka hur väl implementeringen av kontaktsjuksköterskan har fungerat inom den onkologiska vården på Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala samt om de kontaktsjuksköterskor som finns arbetar i enlighet med SKL:s definition.Metod: Kvalitativ metod med semi-strukturerade intervjuer av åtta patienter med olika cancerdiagnos.Huvudresultat: Fem av de åtta deltagarna blev tilldelade en kontaktsjuksköterska eller motsvarande när de fick sin diagnos, antingen i direkt samband med diagnosen eller i ett senare skede. Resultaten tyder på att de patienter som ingår i någon slags forskningsstudie upplever sig ha en kontaktsjuksköterska som underlättar för dem och även deras behandling. Patienter som inte ingår i läkemedelsstudier upplever inte att kontaktsjuksköterskan har arbetat enligt SKL:s definition.Slutsats: Forskningssjuksköterskor är den personalkategori som arbetar närmast definitionen av kontaktsjuksköterska. Brister gällande sjukvårdens tillgänglighet, förmåga att ge fullgod information samt att erbjuda anhöriga stöd har uppmärksammats. Ytterligare forskning måste utföras för att resultaten ska kunna bekräftas.  .

The product realization involved designing an innovative, functional and futuristiccase which gathered the existing hardware and software to build the final prototype. This study is about gender stereotypes that occur in the magazines of ELLE and KING's advertisements in 2014. The purpose of this inquisition is by using a gender perspective to examine the interpretation of women and men, compare how they relate to the traditional gender stereotypes. To answer our purpose of this study, a selection of 400 advertisements were analyzed based on it's content and visual expression. Through a content analysis, we could measure the frequency of 18 variables and put them in relation to each other to grasp the differences that exist between the genders. The results are presented in bar charts based on the variables that proved most interesting outcome between the genders.

The aim of this Master´s thesis in Art History and Visual Studies is to examine the existence and theexpressions of openness and interior space in the contemporary Swedish architecture of singlefamilyhouses. Research has focused on open-plan housing with open connections between kitchenand living areas, large windows, walls of glass, high ceiling heights and entresol or loft levels, usingtwo case studies and analyses of seven reference objects. Interpretation is based onphenomenological theoretical perspectives.Houses that are more or less transparent permit views from both the inside and the outside. In this study we examine four Swedish newspapers? visual coverage of the Tunisian and Egyptian uprisings in 2010 and 2011 ? commonly known as the ?Arab Spring Revolution?, the ?Jasmine revolution? and in Sweden also the ?Women?s revolution? ? focusing on three main perspectives: news values and framing, postcolonialism, and gender.By means of a comprehensive content analysis and an in-depth semiotic analysis, the purpose of this study is to investigate how Swedish written media frames the revolution and its initiators and partakers through news photographs, headlines, lead paragraphs and photograph bylines, and to determine whether or not it reproduces earlier trends of media coverage and framing of non-Westerners and non-Western societies.The purpose of the extensive content analysis is to attain data for empirical research of the visual portrayal of the uprisings? first twelve weeks in Sweden?s four largest newspapers Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet, Aftonbladet and Expressen. The analysis reveals that episodic framing is regularly used in all four newspapers, and that media demonizes Tunisians and Egyptians by constructing them as a brutal, uncivilized and threatening group which almost exclusively consists of men, and whose members are neither quoted nor named. It also shows that women are symbolically annihilated by media and that the very few women who do occur are gender stereotyped in accordance with established media conventions and postcolonial tradition, with the interesting exception of women being quoted to a larger extent than men. The analysis furthermore confirms the low occurrence of female journalists in Swedish foreign reporting, as well as demonstrates that the gender of the journalists does not influence what types of stories are written or how they are framed.The variable frequencies obtained from the content analysis provide indicators which are subsequently explored in the semiotic analysis of four news photographs.
