Syftet med föreliggande studie är att synliggöra bilden av skriftsamhället i läromedel i svenska som andraspråk genom att undersöka vilka skriftpraktiker som representeras. Materi-alet består av fyra böcker för studieväg 1 på sfi. Det teoretiska ramverket och analysverktygen är hämtade från New Literacy Studies. Metoden är en kvalitativ textanalys där innehållet ka-tegoriseras efter skrifthändelser som i sin tur bildar skriftpraktiker. Resultatet visar att det finns fyra dominerande skriftpraktiker i böckerna.

Syfte: Studiens syfte är att ta reda på hur elever i årskurs 1 skapar multimodala berättelser med hjälp av digitala verktyg, i detta fall läsplattor. Fyra elever och tre processer har följts utifrån följande frågeställningar:Hur kombinerar elever olika teckenvärldar i digitalt berättande?Vilken betydelse har bilden i berättelsen?Teori: I denna studie redogörs för en teoretisk bakgrund utifrån ett språkutvecklande synsätt utifrån områdena Lgr 11, multimodalitet, bildens betydelse, literacy och didaktisk design. Metod: I denna studie har deltagande observation, dokumentation av process med film samt kompletterande intervju använts som metod.Resultat: Studien kunde påvisa ett samband mellan grammatiska och effektiva läsare och val av teckenvärldar. Studien visade även att bilden har en central plats då elever i årskurs arbetar med digitalt berättande..

This report is a part of a diploma work, conducted as a part of a Master of Science degree. The diploma work consists of a preliminary study, two case studies, a user study, a paper and this report. A film can attract all kinds of emotions and moods of the audience through its audiovisual communications and cinematic expression, in which music plays a significant role in both understanding and interpretation of film content.It is interesting to explore the musical significance and the emotional aspect of the film out of a media and communications perspective and visual communications perspective because it?s a subject that belongs to the communications of scientific discipline as film is a media text which is working both as communicative and as audio-visual medium with its expressive aspects.The purpose of this bachelor?s paper is to increase and deepen the understanding of music's function and significant role in context with its reinforcing sense of visual expression in film. More specifically, it aims to explore the musical value of the expressive aspect of the media text in form of film musical Les Misérables (2012), which has been transmedialised from the novel of the same name, referring to the sound, music and song in relation to the film's visual expression.The research questions are at the core of the essay study: "how is music used to reinforce the cinematic visual expression?" and "how can music signify the narrative and highlight the emotional aspect of the film?" The theoretical framework is based on some of the key scholars assumptions such as Michel Chion (1994) and Claudia Gorbman (1987), who share the same theoretical views that the soundtrack seems powerful when it expresses its participation in a scene?s emotional moods as the music follows the scene?s rhythm, the image?s flow and contributes emotional and musical codes of emotions and expressions. According to Chion sound and image interact together to tell a story where sound enrich the image with expressive and informative values.

Strategies for Coping with Reading and Writing Difficulties in Daily Life  This study investigated how seven young adults, who during senior high school underwent a syllable based intervention due to reading and writing difficulties, developed their literacy skills, and what strategies they used to try to overcome reading and writing problems, whether at work, during studies or in their leisure time. The period from when the participants had left school ranged between three and eight years. Qualitative as well as quantitative data was compiled for the study. Qualitative data consisted of  semistructured interviews and quantitative data of tests performed before the intervention and on two occasions after, in order to compare results over time.

This thesis presents the work of developing and testing a programming tool specially designed for children. The purpose of this tool is to make children capable of creating visual simulations and games that consist of actors interacting in a virtual world. The name of the programming tool is Behavior Cards, which comes from the fact that actors are programmed by giving them cards representing different kinds of behaviors. Behaviors are to some extent pre-programmed and can include general events specifying how the actors should act in different situations, in contrast to specifying every possible situation that can occur. The idea is that Behavior Cards should be easier to use than a more traditional text based programming tool, but it should also be expressive within the domain of visual games.

The aim of this two years master thesis in Library and information science is to study the foundation Centrum för lättläst and its work regarding information use with focus on information structures and information needs. The aim is also to examine how Centrum för lättläst cooperate with Swedish libraries to promote the work concerning people with reading disabilities. This master thesis applies a domain analytic theory and method inspired by Birger Hjørland. The domain analysis is confined to examine ontology, epistemology, sociology, empirical user studies, document and genre studies and studies of structures and institutions in scientific communication. The advantage and the possibility of keeping track of a number of vehicles to make work practice more effective and smooth is today a favorable choice for Visual Units Logistics customers. We?ve been evaluating the software and trying to take it one step further and letting not only the individual user, but maybe, the company as a whole benefit from its advantages. Our study emanates from a socio?cultural perspective on learning and aim to describe and comparetwo different upper secondary school classes and their work with information literacy as a socialpractice in project work and their use of ICT (information and communication technologies). Thequestions at issue in the study are; how the pupils handle information seeking processes, whatdifferences and similarities can be observed in the two social practices and which consequences thesedifferences have in an project work environment.Our choice of research methods to collect data consists of both observations and interviews withpupils and teachers. The interviews performed in the study can be categorized as qualitativeinterviews, and in addition we recorded and took notes during the interviews and transcribed thematerial.The study shows the importance of a good learning environment when it comes to working withinformation seeking processes, that the instructor?s role is of outmost importance and that the pupilsfundamental knowledge of information seeking processes and their information literacy are keysuccess factors when it comes to project work linked to ICT to be productive.

Visual Type Instrument - VTI, is a tool containing a typeface and a set of geometric calculations that generates numerical data in spreadsheets. The data is determined from the typefaces visual dimensions and is used to calculate leading, type size, margins and format. The aim is to offer, for all of those working with typography and design, a practical way to manage text, image and format in relationship to visual size. Instead of using point measurements, VTI uses a new device called Edo. An Edo is the same as one twelfth of a millimetre.

This thesis is about covers of books and DVD movies. I have tried to find out if the visual communication of the covers differs between the book and movie with the same story. Do they appeal to different target groups? I have also been trying to find out what designers can do to increase the visibility of covers among others. Are there certain rules to follow for making a cover visible?To reach a conclusion I have been studying components in advertising pictures, since covers work as a kind of advertiser for the product.

Hur kan en läsupplevelse skapas med inriktning mot manliga läsare? Genom att ta reda på vad som format boken till hur den ser ut idag, undersöka fenomenet "visual writing" och skillnader i manlig/kvinnlig läsning kunde begränsningar och möjligheter skönjas för att utveckla formgivningen av en tryckt artefakt med skönlitterär text. Möjligheterna för digital bokformgivning är stor men i detta arbete undersöktes hur den tryckta boken kan utvecklas vidare. Utifrån respons på det färdiga resultatet kunde en tendens ses att en manlig målgrupp kan uppskatta visuella element i skönlitterära böcker, och att det är något som inte stör läsningen..

Innehållet i denna rapport beskriver ett examensarbete som har utförts våren 1998 åt Kiruna Softcenter AB. Arbetets syfte är att ge exempel på hur datanätverk kan presenteras lägesriktigt m h a GIS (Geografiska Informations System) och vilka fördelar detta medför. Arbetet genomfördes i två faser. Den första fasen innehöll en förundersökning om vad det finns för tidigare erfarenheter inom området vad gäller nyttan att redovisa ledningsinformation m h a GIS. Den andra fasen, målet med arbetet, var att utveckla en GIS-applikation som visar hur olika datornätverk sträcker sig i olika byggnader eller städer.

The purpose of this thesis was to create a saw pattern program for the sawmill industry. I have chosen to focus on the module that describes the shrinking on the wood. There are several theories about how the wood deforms by shrinking. Several hypotheses were simulated in the program and after testing them I decided to use only one of them (hypothesis C). The program is written in Visual Basic .NET and I choused that program language because it is easy to do changes in the layout. Another great advantage in Visual .Net is that you can mix different languages in the same program.
