I uppsatsen undersöks bildens betydelse för den svenska utvandringen till Amerika vid 1900-talets början. Utgångspunkten är i Västernorrland och en analys av Örnsköldsviks Allehanda,Allers Familj-Journal och Hvita Stjern-Liniens rederibroschyr. Under antagandet att varjebild fick ett större nyhetsvärde i en mer bildfattig kultur än den vi har idag och sparades underen längre tid är syftet att undersöka den blivande emigrantens bildvärld och världsbild. Frågorsom behandlas är: I vilket källmaterial förekom bilder, vilken funktion fyllde de och vilkenkunskap om Amerika kan den blivande emigranten tänkas ha haft? Vidare behandlasemigrantens bildbiografi, emigrationsbildens ontologi och bilden som emigrationspåverkandefaktor.

There are differences today amongst psychoanalysts regarding if psychoanalysis should limit itself to being exclusively a hermeneutic discipline or if psychoanalysis should find points of contact with neurobiology. The purpose of this essay is to touch upon the larger issue that creates the different points of view: Can psychoanalysis become enriched by finding points of contact with neurobiology, and should psychoanalysis be regarded as belonging to a broader scientific field than being exclusively a human science? The question at issue is: Can modern neurobiology contribute to a development of the psychoanalytic concepts; compulsion to repeat, transference/countertransference and talking cure? The method used is a literature study. The result shows that: Freud?s theories regarding traumatic compulsion to repeat can be linked with LeDoux?s theory of "emotional memory".

The concept of planetary boundaries was introduced in the year 2009 by a group ofresearchers led by Johan Rockström and Will Steffen. The group presented a draft of thelimits of the planet regarding nine Earth System processes concerning climate change, oceanacidification, stratospheric ozone depletion, atmospheric aerosol loading, interference with Pand N cycles, global freshwater use, land-system change, rate of biodiversity loss andchemical pollution. The starting point for the study presented in this report was that asustainable development only can be achieved if humankind stays within the boundaries. It istherefore, based on the ongoing urbanization, relevant to evaluate how cities affect the EarthSystem processes. The aim of the study was to investigate if Stockholm Royal Seaport (NorraDjurgårdsstaden), a district in the northeast of Stockholm with a clear environmental profile,affects the Earth System processes less than Stockholm in general does.

This work derives from the question ?What is a beautiful road??. The question is being discussed in interviews with two employees at the Swedish National Road Administration and two former members of the ?Council of environment and beauty? at the Swedish National Road Administration. The interviews are summarized in my own discussion about the concept of ?Beautiful roads?.

AbstractAim: The aim of this study was to investigate if treatment with ?dry needling? in myofascial triggerpoints (MTrPs) in the rotatorcuff muscles may affect impingement symptoms such as pain during provocative tests, shoulder mobility, and function. The research questions were: Does the value of pain change on the Visual Analog Pain Scale (VAS) between before and after treatment? Do the positive provocative tests for impingement change between before and after treatment? Does the active shoulder mobility change between before and after treatment? Does the self-rated function change between before and after treatment?Method: The study was a prospective randomized intervention study and 19 persons with impingement symptoms (mean ± standard deviation; 58 ± 18 years, and shoulder pain duration 3.9 ± 1.6 months) were randomized into two groups. The groups were tested before, directly after and 3 weeks after treatment.

Utgångspunkt är det koncept för kombinerad produktion av biogas och biodiesel på gårdsnivå som Ageratec AB utvecklat. Konceptet utgår från att glycerolfasen som bildas vid biodieselproduktion är ett värdefullt substrat vid biogasproduktion. Scandinavian Biogas Fuel AB har därför på uppdrag från Ageratec AB utvecklat och optimerat en biogasprocess för samrötning av glycerol och gödsel.För att kunna göra en relevant investeringsbedömning så granskas investeringen både ur ett ekonomisk och miljömässigt perspektiv. Den ekonomiska analysen består av en investeringskalkyl för två olika amorteringstider där teorier för nuvärdesanalys tillämpas.

The subject of this thesis is the history of the library at The Göteborg Museum of Art. The aim of the thesis is to depict and analyze the emergence and the expansion of the library?s holdings until 1939. To fulfill the aim, two questions are asked. The first question is: Is it possible to argue that the library?s holdings were collected to document the entire world of art? The question is formulated in relation to a comment by Susan Wyngaard.

The purpose of this essay is to examine the consequences following an adaptation from literature to video game formatby comparing Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass with American McGee's Alice and,primarily, Alice: Madness Returns. In order to answer this, aspects of both game theory and literary critique are takeninto consideration, regarding for example the narrative potential of the game medium and the gameplay's possibleresemblance with Wolfgang Iser's theory of the reading process.The analysis shows in what ways the original narrative has been altered in order to fit its new medium. Some of thebooks' main ingredients are simply retold in the games' so called information spaces, i.e. text and video sequenceswhere the otherwise playable character is not controlled. Others, instead, have undergone a ludolization or ergodizationwhere the story events are experienced as playable elements in the games' action spaces.

Den här studien är relevant för att kunna förstå hur biståndsorganisationer påverkar mottagarna av kampanjfilmer. I den här studien har Unicef Sverige varit studieobjektet och de är en av Sveriges största biståndsorganisationer och en organisation som regelbundet visas i media.De teorier som är relevanta i den här studien är retorik och retoriska inriktningar på exempelvismarknadsretorik och visuell retorik. Huvudfrågeställningen i studien är att se på vilket sätt Unicef Sverige använder sig av retorik i sina kampanjfilmer för att övertyga människor att bli givare. Delfrågor i studien är att undersöka, vilka är de marknadsretoriska begrepp och medel som Unicef Sverige använder i kampanjfilmer för att övertyga sina mottagare samt på vilka sätt använder sig Unicef Sverige av visuell retorik i sina kampanjfilmer.I studien har två kvalitativa innehållsanalyser utförts på tre till fem filmer i utvalda filmkategorier.

This report presents a thesis project conducted by two students at Mälardalens högskola. The project covers 15 points in industrial design and was conducted during April to June 2014. The principal of the thesis works at Plastic Produkter. The assignment was to develop equipment for an effective way to dose, mix silicon, fill a special designed plastic bag and then seal it. The bag is then formed into a breast model.When a customer for various reasons decides to do a breast augmentation or a breast reconstruction, there may be doubt or uncertainty about the result.

For centuries, the human body has been used as a mean to project the norms, moral values and aesthetic preferences that exist throughout society. It has been controlled through constrictive fashion, family and social virtues and through how we perceive gender and sexuality. This essay strives to show, not only how the body and the aesthetic values coexist, but also how they work together and influence each other, with the body as the aesthetic medium. To do this, Michel Foucault?s writings of sexuality and his theories on morality and discipline, as well as Judith Butler?s works on normativity and performativity are being used.

Bedömning av estetiska ämnen har varit ifrågasatt gällande dess kvalité, rättvisa, funktion och hur det påverkar ämnet och individen. Studien syftar till att beskriva bedömning av det estetiska ämnet Visual Arts vid en lärarutbildning i Sydafrika presenterat ur ett lärarperspektiv. Forskningsfrågorna utgår från ämnesdidaktikens teori gällande Vad bedöms, Hur kommuniseras bedömningen och Varför görs bedömningen. Metoden som använts är ett två månaders fältarbete vid en bildlärarutbildning där jag följt tre lärare och deras arbete genom deltagande observation, samtal, intervjuer och insamling av vissa dokument.Det empiriska materialet har analyserat från de tre didaktiska frågorna. Resultatet visar att lärarna, som var utbildade konstnärer lade ned mycket tid och engagemang på bedömning.

Problemet med den designen är att den kan stanna av under överföringen. Ett krav förden nya designen av USB gränssnittet är att den ska kunna etablera ett konstant data flödeutan att under en längre tid stanna av mitt under överföringen. Syftet med detta arbete är attordna en stabil överföring mellan mottagare och dator. Gruppen har valt att användanuvarande kretsuppsättning och utveckla egen mjukvara.

The internal flow along with the external cooperation is very important for the company, because it views flexibility and short leadtime as it is the most important competitive means. The part of AQ production that?s been investigated is the manufacturing of ATM-machines, where the costumer is Banqit. This company is a rater small company with about 4 % of the world market of ATM-machines.In order to achieve the aim of the report extensive interviews have been carried out with employees at AQ.

The purpose of this essay is to analyze and show possibilities how a city can grow into the scenery of a oak dominated landscape and how this encounter can add values to the city. The city in focus is Linköping, a city that is approaching one of Sweden?s largest oak dominated cultural landscapes. To this landscape high ecological and cultural values are connected. The recreational values are also of importance especially because of its urban location also because the city is mainly surrounded by flat agricultural land.
