Probiotika, nyttiga bakterier som är välgörande för människan, förekommer allt mer i olika produkter riktade till små barn ? alltifrån droppar och kapslar till modersmjölksersättningar och grötar. Inom barnhälsovården saknar barnsjuksköterskan/ distriktssköterskan vägledning och riktlinjer angående probiotika i små barns kost. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att undersöka evidens angående probiotikas hälsoeffekter i preventivt syfte på friska små barn. Metoden var en litteraturstudie baserad på 20 vetenskapliga artiklar.

Fodermedelsallergi är ett tillstånd som beror på att immunsystemet reagerar mot något, oftast ett protein, som normalt sett inte ska utlösa ett immunsvar. De vanligaste symptomen är kutana symptom såsom klåda, alopeci och otit. Fodermedelsallergi diagnosticeras med hjälp av en eliminationsdiet med efterföljande provokation och vid diagnos behandlas sjukdomen genom att undvika det orsakande allergenet. För att inte utveckla fodermedelsallergi måste hunden eller katten utveckla en oral tolerans mot proteinerna i kosten; misslyckas detta kan allergi uppstå. Denna uppsats syftar till att sammanfatta den tillgängliga forskningen kring hur den orala toleransen uppstår, den immunologiska bakgrunden till fodermedelsallergi samt hur en eliminationsdiet påverkar immunsvaret.

Hälsosamma levnadsvanor är en viktig förutsättning för att skapa en positiv hälsoutveckling och kostvanor, fysisk aktivitet och stress är faktorer som påverkar hälsan. Till följd av den senare tidens förändringar i samhället har befolkningens levnadsvanor förändrats till en mer ohälsosam kost, fysisk inaktivitet, och stressen har ökat. De förändrade levnadsvanorna har påverkat folkhälsan, och att satsa på dessa områden i folkhälsoarbetet kan ge betydelsefulla hälsovinster. Landstinget Västmanland driver ett projekt med syftet att främja hälsosamma levnadsvanor. I projektet ingår ?Kom i form gruppen? som är en gruppverksamhet som inriktas på kost, fysisk aktivitet och stress.

Ohälsa till följd av övervikt och fetma har kommit att bli ett stort folkhälsoproblem i Sverige och stora delar av världen. Hälsosamma levnadsvanor så som en god kosthållning och viss grad av fysisk aktivitet främjar hälsan och förebygger samtidigt övervikt och fetma. Individers livsstil påverkas av en rad bakomliggande faktorer så som tillgänglighet, närmiljö och sociala kontakter. Studier visar på en ojämlik hälsa, där barn och ungdomar som bor i områden med låg socioekonomisk status i högre utsträckning har ohälsosamma vanor och beteenden än barn från andra områden. I denna studie gjordes sex individuella intervjuer med ungdomar i åldrarna 15-16 år.

Övervikt och fetma är ett ökande hälsoproblem i Sverige och resten av världen. År 2005/2006 led 3,6 procent av barnen i Sverige av fetma. Kunskapen kring hur farligt övervikt och fetma kan vara för barn har ökat först under de fem senaste åren. Det är nu allmänt känt att även barn som lider av övervikt kan drabbas av hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar. Skolan har en central roll för att påverka barnen mot en hälsosammare livsstil.

Forskningen har kommit fram till att kunskap om kost och motion inte är tillräckligt för att lyckas gå ner i vikt. Det har visats att t.ex. stark motivation, målsättning, positiv inställning samt socialt stöd kan vara en nödvändig hjälp för en viktnedgång.
