This essay is a case-study of an ethnically homogeneous association, situated in an ethnically heterogeneous neighbourhood. The purpose is to examine the social capital of the members in this particular association. The theory of social capital claims that this form of association constitutes an example of bonding social capital, and is running the risk of becoming excluding towards non-group members. However, several scientists suggest that the ethnically homogeneous associations can assist immigrants in their new home countries to become a part of society, hence promote a more bridging form of social capital. This would be extra valuable in an ethnically heterogeneous context where the phenomenon of social capital often has a hard time.

Tourism is now one of the fastest growing industries in the world that has an impact on people, nature and cultures. The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding how different tourism actors use and express the concept of sustainable tourism development in the co-operation organization Kiruna Lapland. One of the most visited places in the north of Sweden.

The purpose of this study has been to create a communication plan to use at the launch of an independent fashion store and give a current storeowner an overall picture concerning which communication aspects to use during his ongoing business. To fulfill our purpose we have targeted one important question, which is:   Which communication fields are the most important to use, when you are about to launch an independent fashion store.  For this study we have used a qualitative approach in which we have conducted eleven personal interviews with people who has a strong understanding in communication regarding to this type of business. Most of our respondents are currently working actively with communication because they are active in retailing.The remaining respondent has a strong experience in the field of communication. In the final chapter we present our conclusions of the study. We have found the main factors in a communication plan, which is most important for a storeowner. Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera vad elever uppfattar av utomhuspedagogik sett utifrån lärarens syn på utomhuspedagogik och hur denna tillämpas. Uppsatsen bygger på en elev-enkät till elever från åk 1 till åk 5 och fyra strukturerade intervjuer med lärare från samma skola som eleverna.Fyra intervjupersoner har svarat på frågor som handlar om utomhuspedagogiken och hur den tillämpas. Enkätens frågor handlade om hur eleverna upplever utomhuspedagogiken.Resultatet blev att elevernas och lärarnas svar överstämmer väl sinsemellan samt med teorin. Uppsatsen visar att de flesta elever samt intervjuade lärare tycker att det är bra att arbeta med utomhuspedagogik och att det är en tillgång för alla att skolan har olika sätt att lära ut. Utom-huspedagogiken hjälper eleverna fram till kunskap från teori till praktik och sammankopplar delarna till en helhet..

Denna studie påvisar en signifikant skillnad i hur kvinnor och män uppger att de går och rör sig genom två studerade grönområden. Ett utfall som är förväntat utifrån tidigare forskning som menar att kvinnors rörelsemönster begränsas av ett upplevt, såväl som reellt, hot om våld. Teorin om brist på trygghet och dess inverkan på rörelsefriheten benämns rädslans geografi, men det är dock tveksamt om teorin rädslans geografi räcker för att förklara hela den skillnad mellan kvinnor och män som uppmätts. Att identifiera eventuella andra faktorer kopplade till könstillhörighet som påverkar rörelsemönstren blir en uppgift för framtida forskning. Studien är utförd genom att analysera enkätsvaren för grönområdena Kungsparken och Guldheden i Göteborg framtagna för projektet ?Värdering av ekosystemtjänster av urban grönska?. Analyserna är gjorda i ett geografiskt informationssystem genom att skapa ett index över tätheten av rörelser.

This thesis is about how ideology affects the way leadership literature measures good and bad leadership qualities. The paper argues that ideological influences in leadership literature, from a teacher perspective, complicate the understanding of leadership in its practice and theory. The methodological tool used in this thesis is an idea- and ideology analysis approach applied on leadership literature that is used in teacher education. A theoretical discussion about the definition of leadership and its possible ideological connotations sets a frame for measuring ideological influences in the texts. The analysis from the textbooks showed clear signs of ideological influences when talking about leadership.

The aim of this study is to describe and analyse the creation and the design of a new public library. In order to concretize this, the study sets out from two examples, the public libraries in Simrishamn and Landskrona. The material used to attain the purpose of the study consists partly of interviews, partly of literature on the subject. To be able to put these two libraries in their historical context, the essay also provides a short overview of the development of public library buildings in Sweden during the 20th century. Another aspect that is discussed is the actual procedure of planning a public library from scratch.

All around the world more and more people move from rural areas to live in the cities. Because of this, the urban areas have become an important part in the debate about the effects on the environment and sustainability. In many countries word wide initiatives have been taken to build sustainable cities and eco cities, the Stockholm Royal Seaport is one example. The vision for the district is to become a world class sustainable city based on the three dimensions of sustainable development: social, economic and ecologic. The municipality of Stockholm has set requirements for the buildings? energy usage, emissions and amount of waste generated during the building process.

Hur bör en Life@Home-mässa i Nya Haganäs utformas för att attrahera, skapa publicitet och få folk att bosätta sig på orten? Svaret på den frågan undersöks i denna rapport. Bostadsbrist leder till ett behov att expandera och en mässa kan ge orten mer publicitet och intresse som genererar underlag för nybyggnationer och immigration.Metoden utgörs av litteraturstudier kring stadsplanering, intervjuer med ämneskvalificerade personer, studiebesök och undersökningar av relevanta bomässor. En deltagaraktiv stadsplaneringsmetod används och ligger till grund för en 3D-modell som har tagits fram. Detta utförs med hjälp av dator och resultatet presenteras i form av renderingar.Diskussionen kretsar kring hur kvalitéer varierar vid olika utformningar av planen, planens utseende och hur väl den uppfyller målen.

Web 2.0 is a relatively new concept which has made significant progress on the Internet. More recently, corporations as well have begun to get use of the different types of applications that are assigned to the Web 2.0. Organizations are primarily interested in making use of Web 2.0 in two areas: inside the company to increase efficiency and productivity, and from the organization to the customer to improve revenue and customer satisfaction. We have chosen to take a closer look at this last area, as can be seen as a CRM context. Our interest is to investigate how such a context may change by implementing some kind of Web 2.0 technology.

Attempts made within planning and landscape architecture to catalyst the integration process have mainly been focused on structural measures, such as residential policies. As for outdoor environments, non-verbal casual encounters in the shape of crossing paths are assumed to lie at the heart of urban social integration.The aim of the thesis is to question this assumption and, as the thesis will show, there is literature supporting this aim. Looking at the works of Gordon Allport, Lewis Coser and some of their followers, I find intercultural contact to require more complex ways of interaction in order to reduce prejudice and to generate tolerance and understanding.

The aim of this study is to explore the fundaments of all psychoanalytic interpretative models, and especially the psychoanalytic literary criticism. Drawing from different fields as affect theory, neuropsychology and Lacan's structural psychoanalysis, strong evidence is found that language in itself contains and transmits affects.The empiric study indicates that different readers of a text, regardless of their interpretation of the text, show similar changes in mood as a function of the text. This seems to be possible as an effect of the separation of the sign between the signifier and the signification. And this supports that the signifier has some kind of direct access to the affects. This is due to the fact that the signifier belongs to the imaginary protolinguistic level while the signification belongs to the symbolic and linguistic level of a higher order.

Since the late 50th century, the automobile has been normative in the Swedish society (Lundin 2008). This has led to an urban environment deeply characterized by the motor vehicle and its necessities, while other means of transportation, such as train and bicycle, have been ignored and put aside. However, over the past decades, a new trend has been seen in urban planning as a consequence of the increasing knowledge of the negative qualities caused by the car. As a result, the bicycle is seen as a conceivable transport mode.This thesis examines cycling on four issues:- Why is there a need of more cyclists? - How can the total number of cyclists as well as the number of satisfied cyclists increase? - Which factors affect the choice of transport mode? - Which factors affect the choice of route?The first two questions are discussed from a literature study that was conducted at the beginning of the thesis.

På flera platser i Europa har övergivna industriområden lämnats orörda och tillåtit naturen ta över, platser som genom design sedan gjorts tillgängliga för människor i form av så kallade urbana naturparker. Målet med uppsatsen är att beskriva ny vild natur utifrån ekologiska, sociala och estetiska värden. Uppsatsen syftar till att besvara frågan om vad forskning och praktiker säger om den nya vilda naturens utvecklingsmöjligheter i stadens övergivna ytor. Vad finns det för attityder kring ny vild natur och de platser den representerar i staden? Genom en litteraturstudie av begreppet 'ny vild natur' behandlar uppsatsen begreppet och de faktorer som gör det till en ny vild natur och vilka ekologiska, sociala och estetiska värden som påvisats för ny vild natur i stadens övergivna platser.
