This master thesis starts in a wondering about the visions and ideas we have about thecity and about the urban. In Swedish about the term stadsmässighet, which can be translatedin to city-like, urban or urbanely, something that describes or contains features ofthe city. How do we use the city as a role model? Is urbane building the same as buildinga city? Is it about architecture and aesthetics or is building urbanely the way to makepopular cities? The central aim of this essay is to study visions and reality around urbanebuilding in order to understand the concept?s meaning and how it changes. My ambitionis that the essay will function as a discussion basis for students and planners.The work starts with literature studies where theoretical definitions and concepts aboutcities and about the urbane is investigated.

Grönområden kan bidra med en mängd nyttor till en stad som till exempel att reglera lokalklimatet, säkerställa vattenresurser och så vidare. Grönområden gynnar också människors hälsa både genom att verka mentalt återhämtande och underlätta och inspirera till fysisk aktivitet. Analysen av vad åsikterna kring grönområden i Umeå stad var utgick ifrån en enkätundersökning på nätet som dels publicerades på Umeå kommuns hemsida och dessutom skickades ut med e-post till de föreningar som fanns registrerade hos kommunen samt de verksamma på SLU i Umeå. Datainsamlingen avbröts när antalet svarande uppgått till 1000 stycken. Svaren kom från ett brett urval av befolkningen, och personer med olika åldrar, kön, uppväxtmiljöer med mera fanns representerade.

?Re:Regional? is a diploma work by Sanna Alm and Ylva Hedin, for the Master?s Programme in Spatial Planning presented at the Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden. ?Greater Helsinki Vision 2050 ? International Ideas Competition? was the starting point of this study. The competition was launched the 15th of December 2006 and the closing date was the 31st of May.

På natten är vi beroende av artificiellt ljus för att kunna orientera och ta oss fram i stadsrummet. Utöver detta kan ljussättningen ge andra typer av värden och påverka uppfattningen av staden. Huvudsyftet med detta arbete är att undersöka den temporära ljussättningen i stadsrummet. Uppsatsen består av två delar, där den första undersöker ljus, ljussättning i staden samt aspekter av mörker. Den andra delen behandlar temporär, tillfällig ljussättning och två städer, Lyon och Helsingborg, har studerats och redovisas som referensobjekt..

The Swedish academic libraries have gone trough radical changes during the last decades. The development of information technology, the educational expansion and new pedagogical ways of learning within the higher educational system have changed the conditions, not only for the academic libraries, but also in many ways for the librarians. The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine how Swedish librarians experience their pedagogic role and task in the context of an academic library. The following four questions in this investigation were asked: How do the librarians experience the formal task that they have? How do the librarians experience the physical library environment? How do the librarians experience the co-operation with others involved in their work? How do the librarians experience their own pedagogic knowledge and competence in their daily practice? The study showed that these librarians believed the physical environment to be very important and is seen as a pedagogical tool in their daily work.

The purpose of this study is to shed light on and describe Kramfors travel centers function and relationship to the surrounding Urban environment, and how this core is experienced by residents and visitors. To do this, the use of the travel center, its relationship to Kramfors city center and the perception of it, as well as possible improvement areas has been studied.This has been examined using a quantitative method by designing a questionnaire and the usage of a research strategy through the implementation of a small-scale survey. Within this a cluster sampling was applied.The result shows that Kramfors travel centers is primarily used for traveling and is used most frequently by the visitors within the study. It is also shown that residents 'primary reason for traveling from the travel center is friends and family, followed by shopping, and that the visitors' primary motive for traveling is friends and family as well, followed by work. The mode of transportation between the travel center and destinations are mainly walking, while the mode of transport between homes and the travel center proves to be the car.

More frequent and intensified rainfalls are expected to occur due to climate change in the nearfuture. This together with a higher proportion of paved areas increases the pressure on today?sstorm water systems (Risinger, 2014; Boverket, 2013; Stahre, 2006). Traditional storm watersystems (i.e. underground pipe systems) have during last decades started to be questioned(Olshammar & Baresel, 2012).

Our purpose with this essay was to explore students? experiences of interdisciplinary working method in thematic form. With a starting point from Lpf-94, the curriculum for the upper secondary school and several theories of learning, we wanted to explore if interdisciplinary working method in practice could create an environment for a meaningful learning situation. The study took place in an upper secondary school class, study preparatory, third grade, who works interdisciplinary in thematic form. Our study was qualitative and we used an open structural questionnaire where the students confidentially were able to describe the working method, explain which subjects that participate in the work, and bring forward good respectively bad factors about the method.

The purpose of this study is to investigate a group of female converters and their subsequent experiences when transitioning to islam by bearing hijab. The study analyzes how this religious conversion has shaped and influenced the identity of mentioned women, as well as their attitude and relationship to the social environment prior to and after converting. This means that in accordance with the purpose of this study, an attempt to reveal the everyday life of these women will be performed. In order to make this study possible, three different methods will be put to use. A narrative method that touches upon the time leading up to and after the final converting and the impact of the conversion.

Projektet grundar sig i grannarnas motvilja till en kontroversiell byggnation vid Högalidsparken. Parker är som regel inte bebyggda och bebyggelse med bostadskaraktär minskar parkens offentlighet. Detta förslag bidrar med att utöka parkens yta och genom att hålla bygghöjden låg, fortfarande bibehålla grannarnas utsikt över parken. I Stockholm råder också brist på utrymmen där flyktig eller säsongsbetonad handel kan ske innomhus, därför innehåller förslaget även en marknad inriktad främst till privatpersoner och små företag..

Perchlorate and chlorate are naturally occurring in the atmosphere, from here it sediments into groundwater and soil. The pollution is increased by discharges of perchlorate and chlorate from agriculture and paper mills. Bacteria capable of reducing perchlorate and chlorate to chloride and oxygen can be used to get rid of these contaminants. However an anaerobic environment needs to be sustained in order for this reaction to be used. For this reduction to work in an aerobic environment as well, a greater knowledge of the reducing enzymes, regulating factors and their corresponding genes is needed.

In this paper we present theories about creative individuals and the situation that affects their creativity. Furthermore theories are presented about different strategies that aim to increase creativity.

Logistics and supply chain management in the construction sector is an area with great potential for improvements. Today, a lot of the workers time is spent on non-value adding activities. Research has shown that waste is a large proportion of the total production cost in building projects today.The purpose of this report is to analyze problems concerning logistics in the construction sector. Two of Skanska?s construction projects in Uppsala have been analyzed to identify problems.

SAMMANFATTNING Jag har velat göra ett förslag på utformning och växtval till en skuggig innergård i Malmös äldsta stadsdel, Gamla väster. Där ligger bostadsrättsföreningen Västerut som tycker att deras gård behöver förnyas och bli mer grönskande. Föreningen har dessutom önskemål om att gården ska vara barnvänlig och lättskött. För att kunna göra ett ståndortsanpassat växtval till platsen har jag undersökt vilka problem som kan finnas när det gäller marken, jorden och klimatet i urban miljö och vilka åtgärder man kan vidta för att avhjälpa dessa problem och förbättra villkoren för växterna. I ett extremt läge, när man vill framhäva en viss karaktär och det ska vara lättskött och hållbart samtidigt som det är frodigt grönskande krävs det att man är extra noggrann med växtvalet och förberedelserna innan plantering. Genom att utföra en enkätundersökning bland de boende i fastigheten fick jag svar på hur de vill att deras gård ska vara och hur de vill använda den.
