This paper examines the power producing dams along the Ume-river as an integral part of and a result from the urbanization process in Sweden during industrial capitalism. The aim of the paper is to contribute to the knowledge of the urbanization process in Sweden in general and of its traces along the Ume river in the county of Västerbotten in particular. The paper applies the theory of concentrated urbanization and extended urbanization put forward by Neil Brenner and Christian Schmid (2015) and argues that the building of power producing dams along the Ume-river is part of an extended urbanization process. This becomes particularly evident when examining the vast physical structures that is the dams, situated in an otherwise remote and sparsely populated area. These vast physical structures are also very well connected to a nation wide electric grid that has connections to bordering countries as well.

Integration policies have failed to make diversity into anything more than occupying the same physical space. People of different cultural background still do not share their lives to any real extent. Attempts made within planning and landscape architecture to catalyst the integration process have mainly been focused on structural measures, such as residential policies. As for outdoor environments, non-verbal casual encounters in the shape of crossing paths are assumed to lie at the heart of urban social integration.The aim of the thesis is to question this assumption and, as the thesis will show, there is literature supporting this aim. Looking at the works of Gordon Allport, Lewis Coser and some of their followers, I find intercultural contact to require more complex ways of interaction in order to reduce prejudice and to generate tolerance and understanding.

Since the late 50th century, the automobile has been normative in the Swedish society (Lundin 2008). This has led to an urban environment deeply characterized by the motor vehicle and its necessities, while other means of transportation, such as train and bicycle, have been ignored and put aside. However, over the past decades, a new trend has been seen in urban planning as a consequence of the increasing knowledge of the negative qualities caused by the car. As a result, the bicycle is seen as a conceivable transport mode.This thesis examines cycling on four issues:- Why is there a need of more cyclists? - How can the total number of cyclists as well as the number of satisfied cyclists increase? - Which factors affect the choice of transport mode? - Which factors affect the choice of route?The first two questions are discussed from a literature study that was conducted at the beginning of the thesis.

This thesis aims at examining factors that influence women?s choice of clothing. Focus lies on what women want to communicate with their clothes, how consumption is used as a means of expression, women?s attitude towards the clothing and the body image that media has created. Is there an underlying idea in a women?s choice of clothing and is she trying to express something specific? Why do women buy the clothes they do? The aim with this thesis is to identify if there is a difference between people from an urban area and those from a small town, as well what role the geographic difference plays in how fashion conscious you are or how you choose your clothes.

Bakgrund och problemställning: Stora delar av Sveriges kommuners pensionsskuld redovisas i enlighet med gällande regelverk utanför kommunernas balansräkning. Detta medför att kommunernas uppvisade soliditet blir bättre än vad den i själva verket är. Kommunernas redovisning präglas av den kommunala särarten där öppenhet är i fokus. Med denna bakgrund är det intressant att undersöka om kommunernas redovisning stämmer överrens med lagar och rekommendationer samt om den bild som kommunen ger av sin ekonomi i redovisningen är rättvisande. Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka och jämföra hur pensioner redovisas, och varför, i Göteborg, Mölndal, Kungsbacka samt Kungälv kommun.

This essay focuses on the function and development of city harbors during the middle ages in the Scanian part of Öresund. The purpose of the survey is to take a closer look at topography, development and activities on the shores in three coastal cities along the west coast of Scania. The cities that has been part of the survey are: Skanör ? Falsterbo, Malmoe and Landskrona, three cities that follows each other chronologically and that show both similarities and differences in appearance, function and urbanization.The cities of Skanör ? Falsterbo and Malmoe were important market places for the medieval Scania market with the herring fishery in focus. The cities? birth has to be looked upon in relation to these activities.

Undersökningens material består av olika finans, ekonomi och Riksbankens hemsida samt vetenskapliga artiklar och internetsidor, för att kunna pröva teorier som ställts för att få fram ett samband mellan reporänta och aktiemarknaden.Författaren kommer att använda sig av kvantitativa metoder i forskningen då det görs en eventstudie för att få fram sambandet mellan reporäntan och aktiemarknaden, på grund av att författaren utgår från konkret fakta som återfinns hos Riksbanken och Stockholms börs OMX.Marknaden verkar vara väldigt effektiv enlig den effektiva marknadshypotesen (EMH).

The sites I visit turned into routines a long time ago. Everywhere someone has decided what should be there and what will not fit. I retreat into my daydreams, away from everyday life. A longing for something different, something wonderful. I decided to go where I've never been, searching for something unknown.

I denna uppsats har nyanlända tjejers fritid i en norrländsk kommun undersökts. Syftet med undersökningen var att undersöka hur nyanlända tjejer har upplevt sin fritid, möjligheterna till en aktiv fritid och den aktiva fritidens vikt vid integration i Sverige. För att undersöka detta har semistrukturerade intervjuer genomförts med 4 tjejer i åldrarna 19-21 som varit nyanlända samt med 2 yrkesverksamma som arbetar nära målgruppen. Resultatet av denna undersökning visar att nyanlända tjejers fritid i kommunen är begränsad, det finns begränsningar i möjligheten till en aktiv fritid utifrån aspekter som information, språk, kultur, kön och ekonomi. Den aktiva fritiden i form av strukturerade fritidsaktiviteter har visat sig vara av stor vikt vid integration..

Kina har i många år varit ledande inom textil produktion och landets ekonomiska tillväxt har ökat för varje år som går. Trots krisen 2008 lyckades Kina hålla landets ekonomi i schack medan andra av världens stora nationer gick in i en djup kris (Baocheng 2010, ss. 215-226). Under de senaste åren har det även framkommit hur Kinas exploaterade industri har bidragit till den förödande miljöförstöring som råder i landet. Kina har i många år varit Sveriges största importland av textilier.

In the Swedish Curriculum (Lpfö 1998, revised 2010) pedagogogical documentation constitute a big part. It is important that the childrens development and learning are documentated properly, both for the child itself, but also as an quality review and evaluation of the work that is made at the Preschool.In this study we have examined preschool teacher?s attitudes towards pedagogical documentation and how they work with it and use it in the daily work at the Preschool.We have also examined their own abilities to implement pedagogical documentation. For whom is the documentation made for? We also wanted to see if the children had any opportunity to influence the work.We have used a qualitative method and our study is based on six semi-structured interviews with six preschool teachers.

Detta kommer genomföras med hjälp av Foucaults diskursanalytiska ramverk som genom en kvalitativ analys ser närmare på hur det offentliga bolagets organisation kan påverkas av de överliggande politiska diskurserna gällande miljö och ekonomi. Detta för att se hur dessa övergripande mål utvecklar sig i organisationen och huruvida organisationens inriktning stämmer överens med aktuell politik.Analysen kommer i sin tur visa på att otydligheter de övergripande diskurserna emellan kan bidra till motsägelsefulla och inkonsistenta prioriteringar inom organisationen, där tolkningsfrihet leder till att ekonomiska faktorer prioriteras framför miljönytta..
