Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka sambandet mellan Stockholms parker och offentliga grönområdena i relation till den rådande förtätning staden genomför. Stockholm har en tydlig strategi på att skapa en tät stad vilket medför effekter på stadens parker och offentliga grönområden. Studien diskuterar de värden som tillkommer och går förlorade när exploateringen av staden ökar samtidigt som den totala arealen grönområden minskar. Vidare diskuteras det offentliga grönområdenas funktion i den täta staden. De metoder som använts i studien består av semistrukturerade informantintervjuer i kombination med telefon- och e-postintervjuer följt av en bred litteraturundersökning.

Stadsodling är ett vagt men alltmer aktuellt begrepp i dagens växande städer. Det anses ofta ha ett socialt och ekologiskt värde för de som odlar. Den här uppsatsen syftar till att ta reda på om stadsodlingen, genom sin utformning, även kan tillfredsställa de stadsinvånare som inte odlar eller äter av det odlade. Genom en litteraturstudie presenteras, undersöks och jämförs flera teoretikers och forskares idéer om vad offentliga rum som parker och torg bör innehålla för att människor ska vistas, må bra och mötas på platsen. Målet är att skapa ett underlag för vidare studier i parkers och offentliga ytors miljöpsykologiska värden som i sin tur kan inge ett mervärde av kommande stadsodlingsprojekt.

The overall aim is to examine how the European Union Water Framework Directive has affected the local water management in the catchment Märstaån situated in the eastern part of the lake Mälaren river basin, Sweden. The first part of the study gives an historical overview of the area with focus on how the old agricultural landscape was handling the nutrient load from farming activities by means of different kinds of wetlands. By using the concept of the procedural landscape, introduced by Torsten Hägerstrand , together with historical maps with dates starting from the 17th century, the pre-modern landscape is analyzed.  The second part is an investigation, based on qualitative data, on how the different actors in the catchment area work together to secure the water quality for the Märstaån river. The analysis shows that the Märstaån catchment river systems are mostly unchanged in the rural areas.  The exception is the mainstream section of the Märstaån river running partly underground today and the Halmsjöbäcken river that is heavily affected by the Arlanda airport situated within the catchment area.

Fruktträd används sällan i stadsmiljö idag. Vanligare var det för hundra år sedan. Beror det på att staden har blivit en för ogästvänlig plats att växa på eller har fruktträden blivit bortglömda? I detta arbete söks svaret på vilka skötselproblem som är förknippade med odling av fruktträd i stadsmiljö. Förhoppningen är att detta arbete kommer kunna användas som en vägledning när trädplantering i urban miljö planeras. Arbetssättet har varit en litteraturundersökning där både böcker, vetenskapliga artiklar och trädplaner har beaktats.

ABSTRACTThis pilot study examines the knowledge about tree root systems amongst five treeplanting professionals. The aim is to find out the professionals? collective knowledge ofthe nature of root systems of various trees used in green areas. Furthermore; to explorehow the professionals adapt landscaped green areas to the tree root properties in asustainable manner. Questions: Which tree species have special root properties toconsider and how do the professionals utilize this knowledge? And: How do theprofessionals in general adjust planting according to the root systems of trees in areas tocreate sustainable green environments?Interviews with the professionals were performed.

Trygghet är en mänsklig rättighet för alla individer. Det finns dock sociala, ekonomiska och miljömässiga faktorer i samhället som kan påverka den upplevda tryggheten. Denna uppsats har avgränsats till att undersöka vad som upplevs påverka tryggheten på ett bostadsområde i en större stad i mellersta Sverige. Bostadsområdets invånare har sämre socioekonomisk status än generellt i staden. Boende på bostadsområdet har även visat på otrygghet och oro att gå ut efter det blivit mörkt.

The popularity of vegetated, or green roofs, has grown over the past years due to their potential function of maintaining urban environment quality. The aim of this study was to investigate if substrates with different organic material, peat and charcoal, with two contents (3 or 6 weight%) influenced the growth of the cuttings during the first critical period of the establishment. Biochar is used as amendment to agricultural soils and has, theoretically, many of the properties suitable as organic content in green roof-substrates. Peat is one of the materials that is commercially used in green roof industry. The substrate has been treated with different amounts of water.

Vår bild av centrala Uppsala som en stad med brist på växtlighet, ligger till grund för detta kandidatarbete. Påvel Snickares gränd är en centralt belägen plats som länge saknat funktion. Platsen är idag under ombyggnad. I och med att det gamla Rådhuset har byggts om till en galleria fungerar gränden nu som en entré till gallerian. Den nya utformningen av platsen kommer enligt planerna resultera i en växtfattig torgyta.

The incineration of waste is steadily increasing in Sweden and so is the production of ashes. The bottom ash has for many years been used as construction material in landfills. Now many of the nation's landfills are closed and there is a great need to find another beneficial use for the ash. Bottom ash is a gravel-like material and with its material properties it can replace natural gravel in parts of roads and surface constructions. Today this use is only approved within landfill areas where leachate is collected and checked.

Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att undersöka om det finns en allmängiltig uppfattning kring vad som kännetecknar god stadsmiljö, eftersom det i planeringssammanhang ofta talas om god stadsmiljö och attraktivitet på ett sätt som tycks förutsätta att så är fallet. Skillnader i uppfattningar och föreställningar kan vara grundade i olika faktorer och i examensarbetet har skillnader möjliga att relatera till genus och ålder studerats. Genom en fallstudie i Kiruna har delar av resultatet från en, av Kiruna kommun, tidigare genomförd enkätundersökning analyserats vidare för att utreda om det bland de Kirunabor som besvarat enkäten finns skillnader som är möjliga att relatera till genus eller ålder. Fallstudien, som geografiskt sett avgränsats till Kirunas centrala stadsmiljö, har byggts upp kring jämförande diskursanalyser där åtta olika respondentgruppers svar på åtta olika frågor har studerats och jämförts med varandra. Jämförelserna har grundats på vilka byggnader och platser respondenterna lyft fram i sina svar samt på vad de haft för åsikter om Kirunas stadsmiljö.

This Masters thesis is performed at the request of the National Board of Forestry in order to investigate how the Swedish municipalities use their forests. The study is of general character with emphasis on the social values of the forests. The municipalities? purposes with their forests have varied over time, but lately the social aspects have been recognised as interesting. The social values of the forests can be defined as the values from the forests that contribute to the wealth of humans. This has socio-economic importance for the municipalities. The study was performed as a quantitative questionnaire survey, complemented with qualitative interviews.

Women today feel that their urban surroundings are unsafe, and because of that they use different strategies to reduce the risk of being exposed to criminal acts towards them. The focus of this study is to develop an understanding of the insecure feeling that women feel and what that feeling might originate from. By using previous research and theories we have been able to incorporate a gender perspective on the study this because the gender role is central to understand women?s feelings of insecurity. The purpose of the study was to develop a deeper understanding of women?s sense of safety and insecurity.The central questions of the study are1.

Tycho Hedéns Väg in Uppsala has evolved from being a through fare passage and highwayto the oversized road frame running through the city it is today. At the present time, dueto the relocation of the E4 highway east of Uppsala, Tycho Hedéns road creates a barrierbetween the north eastern area of Uppsala and the remaining parts of the city centre. The aim of this project and proposal is to show the possibilities ofhow the innate features of Tycho Hedéns road can be used more advantageously to mend thecity area of Uppsala.

This MA thesis analyzes how the protagonists and the narrative structure relates to ?the Child? as a linguistic/cultural construction in Mare Kandre?s early authorship (1984-1991). A thematic of children portraits defines this period of Kandre?s writing, which consits of the following works: In a Different Country (1984), The Annunciation (1986), Bübin?s Kid (1987), The Burning Tree (1988) and Aliide, Aliide (1991).Linguistic components, such as the word ?child?, the name ?Kid? and a reconstruction of the concept of childhood, holds an actuate position in these narratives when they first appear in direct relation to the protagonists. This suggests how generally accepted categories and concepts consciously are at work in Kandre?s writings.

Few issues raise such an engagement as parking areas, both by the municipality, property- and car owners. For car owners, it is of great importance where to park his car. Parking is not simply about availability but also about safety, security and how it affects the urban environment.When the land will be utilized for building development, there are regulations in Chapter 8, § 9 PBL how parking will be provided. Property owners have an obligation to provide parking space and it shall be arranged in an equitable manner, on the site or near it, which gives an opportunity for shared parking facilities. The guidelines for parking that the municipality has adopted should be the starting point for the extent of that space for parking is required when a building permit review.The first thing you should look at, is if the property owner has ability to provide parking space at his own property, but this is not always the best solution in areas such as inner cities.
