The intent with this paper is to investigate the medieval habitation in central Old Uppsala. This time-period has over the years been neglected. Therefore I wish to summarize and ana-lyze the medieval habitation to see what can be said about its continuity, and also to investi-gate why it is located in certain areas.Due to the amount of source material I have limited my investigation area to the central Old Uppsala. It is possible that this limitation will affect the result of the research but without the limitations the investigation area would have been too large to handle.The source material has been collected from excavation reports and the summarized. My theory is material culture and material agency.

Lokalerna anses oflexibla och fyller inte de krav som ställs på ett modernt konstmuseum. Konstenshus.nu utforskar möjligheten om en ny byggnad skulle kunna uppföras för att husera Uppsalas konstmuseum och dess verksamhet på ett bättre sätt.En tomt invid det nya resecentumet i  den centrala delen av Uppsala har pekats ut som en potentiell plats för uppförandet av ett nytt konstmuseum, som bereder möjlighet till en framtida utveckling av verksamheten.Det har kandidatarbetet är resultatet av hur ett konstmuseum som uppförs på kattalin-tomten, invid Uppsala resecentrum skulle kunna se ut. The thesis investigates how Uppsala University student nations steward their cultural heritage. The survey targets how student nations manage their cultural heritage, what financial priority they give it, their attitude towards it, and their awareness of it.A qualitative study of semi-structured interviews with representatives from 11 out of 13 student nations in Uppsala was implemented. The theoretical framework is based on the theory of David Lowenthal on the importance of cultural heritage, Susan Pearce?s theory on collecting, and Pierre Bourdieu?s theory on cultural capital. To investigate the importance of cultural objects theories by Ivo Maroevi?, Annette Weiner, and Igor Kopytoff was applied.The survey shows that stewardship of cultural heritage at Uppsala student nations is poor and in need of reform.

Denna kandidatuppsats på 15 hp är skriven inom ämnet landsbygdsutveckling. Uppsatsen bygger på tre intervjuer och observationer med ägare till små livsmedelsbutiker i Uppsala. Butikerna säljer bland annat lokalproducerad mat, regional mat, mat från andra länder, kläder och annat smått och gott. Dessa små butiker har nischat in sig på olika områden och jag har undersökt hur det är att driva en sådan liten livsmedelsbutik i Uppsala. I analysen har jag försökt förstå varför vissa väljer att gå och handla i mindre butiker och vilka det är som gör det.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka vilka stadsförnyelsegrepp som använts i strävan efter en attraktiv stadskärna och vilka utmaningar som finns för att uppnå detta. Uppsala används som det empiriska exemplet. Ett särskilt fokus på hur gatuplansverksamheter i tretton kvarters förändring de senaste tolv åren kan kopplas till attraktivitet i stadskärnan har presenterats. Uppsatsens resultat grundar sig på dokumentgenomgångar, intervjustudier samt en kartläggning och behandling av data avseende gatuplansverksamheter i Uppsalas stadskärna. Intervjuerna har genomförts med aktörer som har intresse i utvecklingen av stadskärnan i Uppsala.

Idag mår våra stadsträd inte bra. Som uppsatsämne har jag därför valt att skriva om träd i stadsmiljö och problematiken runt detta. Vad vi kan göra för att förlänga livslängden hos de träd som finns i stadsmiljö idag? Och vid nyplanteringar - finns det arter som klarar sig bättre än andra? Jag kommer att ta upp de olika problem som finns såväl över som under mark och försöker finna arter som lämpar sig bättre som stadsträd och varför. Jag har valt att göra en övergripande beskrivning av hur läget ser ut idag för stadsträd. Därefter har jag genomfört en studie av stadsträden i Uppsala.

Today, digital technologies (DT) can be said to play an important role in the Swedish school system. The goal of this essay was to describe DT use by school leaders, in relation to their views on schools? goals and visions, and teachers? and students? use of DTs. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five school leaders of secondary schools in Umeå municipality, Sweden. The results show that school leaders? use of DTs center on three key tasks: communication, information and administration.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka gymnasieungdomars attityd till teater i allmänhet ochUppsala stadsteater i synnerhet, för att försöka få en bättre bild av hur marknadsföringen motungdomar skulle kunna utformas.Det teoretiska ramverket berör attityder, och marknadsföring mot ungdomar. De verktyg somanvänts är en intervju med en del av Uppsala Stadsteaters marknadsavdelning, enfokusgruppsintervju med nio gymnasieelever samt en enkätundersökning med 161gymnasieelever.Attityden till teater i allmänhet och Uppsala Stadsteater i synnerhet var relativt god blandUppsalas gymnasieungdomar. 58 procent av respondenterna har någon gång besökt UppsalaStadsteater. De som deltog i fokusgruppsintervjun ansåg att Uppsala Stadsteater bör ha tydligareinformation om vad pjäserna handlar om och synas mer.Uppsala Stadsteater bör satsa mer på marknadsföring som riktar sig direkt till ungdomar. Dettakan till exempel göras genom att öka informationen kring rabattkort och genom att göra trailersav pjäserna som går på teatern och presentera dem på Facebook och Youtube..

The purpose of this study was to examine how Swedish high school students view school staff members, in general, but in particular school counselors. The research questions focused on getting the students descriptions of the staff members roles and functions within the school. The study was conducted using focus group interviews. The answers were divided into themes and then analyzed using role theory and previous research. The results showed that the students relationships with family, friends and previous knowledge about the staff members in school, affects their willingness to seek the support of school staff members.

The purpose of my essay has been to illustrate any possible differences between pre-school teachers? and parents' views on the mission of the pre-school put in relation to the pre-school curriculum. In my study I have taken a starting point in the following questions:How do pre-school teachers understand the mission of the pre-school?Do pre-school teachers recognize the term baby-sitting from their profession?How do pre-school teachers perceive the parents' view on the mission of the pre-school?How concerned are the parents according to the pre-school teachers about the pedagogical activities of the pre-school?What do the pre-school teachers do to inform the parents about the pre-school curriculum and how aware do they think that the parents are of the curriculum?What are the plans of the pre-schools to fulfill the new part of the revised curriculum that comes into effect July 1 2011?I chose to utilize the qualitative method with the hermeneutics as a theoretical framework in my study and through interviews study my questions. The interviews were made with four pre-school teachers from different pre-schools in the south of Stockholm.

The purpose of this essay is to illustrate the importance of the school library in a selected junior high school. My investigation is based on both theoretical and empirical studies. The aim of the theoretical part is to create a platform and refer to thoughts, roles and laws concerning the activity of the school library. The empirical investigation consists of two parts: questionnaires among students and teachers, plus interviews with students, teachers, headmaster, school librarian and the management of education. Everybody shows a positive attitude towards the school library and considers it important for the students exams.

International research has shown that through the involvement of the school library and the school librarian in the daily school work with the pupils, the pupil´s learning can be increased and reading comprehensions significantly improved.One purpose of this master`s thesis is to study the school librarian as a brand, representing the school library as well as the school librarian and whether there is a correlation between different comprehensions of the professional role of the school librarian. This is done by examining whether there is a difference between a specific librarian´s own perception of their professional role, compared to the image of the school librarian among teachers and principals working in the same school district and by comparing the profile the school librarian expresses with the image that is conveyed through communications via webpage, written and oral information given on services and competences provided by the school librarian and work carried out by her.A difference of comprehension of the school librarian´s competence and work, could be part of an explanation as to why the correlation between the involvement of school librarians in the school work and the improved learning achievements of the pupils has not resulted in the expected measures, regardless of the investments in school librarians and school libraries. The school librarians´ school identity could be difficult to establish. Whether or not the profiles and images of the professional role are consistent with each other is a much more manageable purpose which could go a long way of explaining the circumstances of the school libraries.That is the reason why we have examined whether the comprehension the school librarians have of themselves corresponds with the idea/ conception/ image conveyed to their surroundings, and with the idea/conception/image encompassed by people in their immediate surroundings..

The curriculum of the Swedish school system explains how the transitions between the preschool class and the pre-school should be. The co-operation between the organisations should aim for a long term perspective with the students learning process in mind (Lgr11).The pre-school has almost the same aim in their curriculum, as the curriculum of the Swedish school system.The aim with my study is to examine how the teachers from the different organizations relate to knowledge and how they look at the students social interactions. Also how the transition between the pre-school and the pre-school class is viewed from their point of view. How do the teachers from the different organisations comprehend knowledge?How do the teachers from the different organisations comprehend the social abilities?How do the teachers from the different organisations work and interact in terms of the transition between the pre-school and the pre-school class?The study that has been made is about the transitions between the pre-school and the pre-school class. It´s been investigated by doing interviews with teachers from both the pre-school and the pre-school class.

In this essay I examine how a municipal- and an independent upper secondary school compare to the ideal types the Company and the Political organization and how that affects the school practise as it?s described in policy documents. The conclusions are that the municipal school on a number of variables correlate to the ideal type the Political organization. At the same time the school reforms of the 1990s are considered as an intention to ?companylize? the municipal school and a number of tendencies how that have affected the municipal school are shown.
