The purpose of this thesis was to make an energy survey and quantify energy flows of individual unit operations associated with the biogas production in Uppsala Vatten och Avfall AB:s biogas plant, located at Kungsängens gård. Moreover, large consumers of energy would be identified and analyzed. The objective of this energy survey was to obtain a detailed understanding of the energy use in the biogas production.The energy survey was divided into two parts: electricity and heat. Each part was treated separately and with somewhat different approach. To estimate the electricity usage during the projcet the rated power of each selected unit operation was noted and multplied with thenmeasured time of usage.

Denna uppsats har baserats på en undersökning av vad en specificerad målgrupp föredrar och vilka faktorer de tycker är viktigast kring onlinefilm. Med onlinefilm menas film som i ett digitalt format distribueras och konsumeras via Internet, antingen genom att ladda ned eller streama filmen. Målgruppen för undersökningen bestod av civilingenjörsstudenter inom informationsteknologiska programmet vid Uppsala Universitet. För att kunna ta fram faktorer att behandla i enkätundersökningen användes ett sätt att se på produkten som innehåller tre olika nivåer. För att anpassa synsättet till produkten onlinefilm och denna uppsats har modellen som från början innehöll nivåerna kärnprodukt, den faktiska produkten och den utvidgade produkten breddats till att också innefatta pris och konsumentbeteende.

Vårdrelaterade urinvägsinfektioner är ett problem som förekommer i vården särskilt hos patienter som har KAD, äldre människor samt kvinnor. Sveriges Kommun och Landsting(SKL) har upprättat ett åtgärdsprogram för att förebygga detta. Syftet med studien var att undersöka om SKL: s obligatoriska åtgärder för att förebygga vårdrelaterade urinvägsinfektioner följs på vald vårdavdelning. För att samla in data på avdelningen valdes en retrospektiv kvantitativ metod med användning av en granskningsmall som författarna till studien har utarbetat efter SKL: s förebyggande åtgärder för att kunna granska patientjournalerna. Datainsamlingen genomfördes under tre dagar på en ortopedavdelning vid Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala.

This report describes the construction of a climate-cabinet for testing of HV-cards (High Voltage) produced at VG Scienta. The main part of the report describes all the different components of the cabinet. The most important parts are a PID regulator from Eurotherm model 2408, a solid state contactor (SSC), a thermocouple, a finned resistor from DBK and different fans. The report even includes the connection between components by cable wiring, isolation, grounding, fuses and shaping of metal goods.As the cabinet also communicates with a computer, the report includes the solution of the data communication using the software iTools from Eurotherm. The communication part includes information about a converter that converts EIA422 to USB.The cabinet was produced at a company, called VG Scienta, in Uppsala during the spring 2010.

Destination marketing looks different from that of traditional marketing, since the product, in this case the destination, consists of several different parts compared to a good. A destination is marketed as a process where the consumption takes place at the same time as the production. Destination marketing organizations, DMO?s, are responsible for the marketing of a destination. Since destinations consist of several parts such as the train trip to the destination, restaurant visits, shopping, hotel stays etc., it is difficult for the DMO?s to fully control how a tourist perceive the destination.

This report describes the development of a high-voltage connector at the request of Scandinova Systems AB in Uppsala. The development process is described from the making of a customer demand specification, to the making of drawings for the manufacturing of prototypes. Scandinova develops high-voltage modulators, hence the need for connectors that can handle very large power pulses. Their current connector has several weaknesses that may cause the connector to melt or catch fire. The development began with a number of studies that included the modulator structure and the current connector structure and functions.

AbstractMårten Öhman: En studie av punkens uppsving i England under mitten av 70-talet. ? Uppsala: Musikvetenskap 2002. 60 p.Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka och beskriva punkrockens framväxt i England vid mitten av 1970-talet samt vilka värderingar och idéer kom till uttryck genom denna. Utifrån ett musikaliskt perspektiv såväl som ett mer renodlat samhällsperspektiv ramar uppsatsen in de centrala elementen i denna musik- och livsstil.

För att uppnå ett långsiktigt hållbart samhälle ställs idag höga krav på en miljömässigt och ekonomiskt hållbar utveckling. Samhällets expansion i form av nybyggnation är en stor del i detta. Genom att planera och bygga mer långsiktigt hållbara byggnader så kan dessa krav uppfyllas. Att skapa flexibla byggnader, som kan anpassas efter samhällets framtida behov, leder till en effektivisering av lokalutnyttjandet och genererar mer långsiktigt hållbara byggnader. I Sverige är kommunerna landets största byggherrar och de har därför ett stort ansvar att förse samhället med fastigheter och då framförallt offentliga lokaler.

Den här rapporten avhandlar Kristin Charlie Torsdotters examensarbete i industriell design vid Högskolan på Gotland. Examensarbetet gick ut på att utforma foajén till det påbörjade bostadshuset SommarRo i Uppsala, samt en sittmöbel till foajén. Projektet genomfördes i samarbete med arkitekterna till bostadshuset, Arcum Arkitekter.Projektets tyngdpunk har legat på att utforma en sittmöbel till foajén. Kravet på möbeln var att den inte bara ska vara funktionell och tilltalande utan att den även ska fungera som en installation i rummet. Möbeln skall även binda samman foajén med den övriga byggnaden samtidigt som den ska ha ett tydligt samband med byggnadens överliggande tema: modern japansk design med inslag av skandinavisk samtida design.Arbetet har skett i enlighet med design metodikens olika faser.

The decomposition of organic carbon in drained peat soils is a major source of carbon di-oxide in Sweden. A big part of these drained peat soils are used in agriculture and it is a big challenge to slow down their decomposition. It has earlier been thought that less tilling and higher water table levels would decrease the activity of soil microbes and thereby the decomposition, but recent experiments has showed that this has little or no effect. In this bachelor thesis a field experiment was made on drained peat soil with ley, outside Björklinge, Uppsala municipality, Sweden. The experiment was carried out in May 2011. The objective was to develop a method to examine how the net exchange of carbon diox-ide from plant covered peat soil is affected by temperature and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR).

The aim of the study is to elucidate and analyze newcomer students´ experiences of the Language Introduction Program, in more detail, how the students describe their time at the program and how experiences could differ between girls and boys. Finally, the study examines how the program, according to the students, can be significant for their future. The analysis of the students´ dictums is based on the perspective of intercultural education. To answer the study´s aim and research questions, the investigation consists of eight semi-structured interviews with students who are studying at the Language Introduction Program at an upper secondary school in Uppsala.The results show that the main advantages with studying at the Language Introduction Program are, according to the students, that they learn the Swedish language and that they meet students with several cultural backgrounds. The main disadvantages that were noted were that the Language Introduction Program takes a long time to finish, and furthermore, the contact with the students at the other programs at the school is not enough.

This report, written by Ma?ns Ridze?n and Jonas Stenberg, presents the thesis carried out the spring of 2012. The authors met the first time in 2008, when they started their studies at Uppsala University. Since then they have completed various projects, both within and without the university. This study is based on a theory that was first conceived when Jonas Stenberg did his internship in the summer of 2010.

I denna studie har insamling av referensdata över språkförståelse hos treåringar med typisk språkutveckling genomförts. Till detta har bedömningsmaterialet Sofialådan (Westerlund & Öfverholm-Engström, 1995) använts. Sofialådan bygger som flera andra språkförståelsematerial på den s.k. act-outmetoden där man låter barnet agera med föremål efter en given instruktion. Med hjälp av föremålen i Sofialådan bedöms barnets förmåga att identifiera grundfärger och storleksbegrepp, kategorisera, flytta föremålenligt olika prepositionsanvisningar samt att följa flerledade instruktioner.

Objectives: The purpose of the study was to examine if a pre- and post-operative difference could be seen in self-reported pain disability and self-efficacy among patients undergoing surgery as treatment for spinal disc herniation in order to improve process of rehabilitation.Method: A quantitative and descriptive design was used. 10 patients awaiting surgical treatment for spinal disc herniation were included at Akademiska sjukhuset (The Academic Hospital) in Uppsala. Participation was voluntary and the selection was made by convenience. Data was collected using The Pain Disability Index and Self-Efficacy Scale by which the patient would estimate how hindered they felt because of their pain in everyday activities and their self-efficacy to perform everyday activities. This was done the day before surgery and two weeks after surgery.
