Flooding events are no longer rare, floods occur all over the world. Accordingly, it is vital for the society and different authorities to work with flood mapping. To meet the goal of Uppsala kommun to map the risks of floods in Uppsala län, a map of the different areas around Funboån which are inside the area of risk for flooding have been developed.In the work, cross sections and the water flow have been measured. Moreover, an echo-sounding have been carried out in Funboån to map the bottom topography. From the bottom map and laser scanned data covering the study area, a terrain model was created.

Aim: The purpose of this work is to investigate what differences there are between a credit union that is connected to Sweden?s Credit Association and an independent association, and how these differences have affected the union?s success. Method: A qualitative study has been made by means of email and telephone interviews. Respondents were chosen from Sweden?s Credit Association, Credit Guarantee Association in Gävleborg and Övre Norrland Guarantee Association. The interviews were then analyzed in the light of our theoretical studies. Result and conclusions: We have found that there are three major differences between the unions.

Vi har kommit fram till att chefernas reaktioner inte beror på omorganisationen i sig utan hur förändringsprocessen har gått till. Deras reaktioner speglar ett motstånd mot sättet som förändringsprocessen har genomförts på. Det är personerna i organisationen och inte organisationsformen som är det viktiga för cheferna. Vi tycker att de faktorer som påverkar en lyckad förändringsprocess är medarbetarnas delaktighet, möjlighet till en bra dialog innan beslutet är taget, kommunikation samt känsla av sammanhang..

The number of sawmills in Sweden has decreased dramatically since the 1980s and the trend looks set to continue. The sawmills that are left instead becomes larger and are situated farther apart. In northern Sweden, they are concentrated along the coastline.In our study, we compared conditions for running a sawmill in inland areas and coastal areas and looked at what factors have the greatest impact on the profitability of the sawmill in northern Sweden.We chose to compare different locals conditions for a sawmill that only sawn pine timber and had an annual raw material requirements of 300 000 m3ub per year. By analyzing the kNN-data from the Swedish National Forest Inventory we have taken out the size of the timber volume at each site and its catchment. We have also looked at possible competitors in the areas that may affect the purchase price of the commodity.

In the world we live in today the environmental issues has become increasingly important, and we have begun to realize that we can not continue to use fossil fuels at the rate we do. When it comes to generating electricity we are constantly trying to come up with cleaner and more efficient solutions. The fuel celltechnology is one such alternative and has been around for over 100 years. Yet, it is not until now that the world has started to notice this great technology. The fuel cell has been developed in several areas and can today be used for handheld electronics, vehicles and small settlements.

SAMMANFATTNING     Författare: Srea Karim   Sociala omsorgsprogrammet, Uppsala universitet   Titel: En kvalitativ studie om hemtjänstpersonalens föreställningar kring åldrande och     äldreomsorg Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera föreställningar som personalen inom hemtjänsten innehar kring åldrande och äldreomsorg utifrån en kvalitativ studie.  I Studien tar jag även upp om vad äldreomsorg innebär för personalen, hur personalens syn på åldrande påverkar deras arbete samt om personalen tillhandahåller den vård och omsorg som de själva skulle vilja ha. Jag har använt det fenomenologiska perspektivet då jag analyserat mina intervjuer jag genomförde med mina informanter, för att kunna få en bättre förståelse för deras tankar, upplevelser men även deras erfarenheter. De teoretiska perspektiv jag valt att behandla i min uppsats är rollteorin, disengagemangsteorin. I min uppsats har jag gått tillväga på så sätt att jag intervjuat fem informanter inom en hemtjänst i Uppsala, som tillhör Uppsala kommun. De resultat jag kommit fram till utifrån mina fem informanter som jag intervjuade i hemtjänsten, stämde till en stor del överens med det som jag tar upp i tidigare forskning, där informanterna menar att tidsbrist förekommer i deras arbete, och att omsorg innebär att bry sig om vilket kan motsvara det som jag tar upp i tidigare forskning där Astvik & Aronsson genomförde 1994 ( Astvik, 2003 : 1- 2) en studie om vårdbiträdens värderingar kring sitt arbete, där arbetets positiva synpunkter handlade om att få kunna hjälpa människor och göra ett gott arbete. Resultatet visar att personalen i många av de teman jag utgick ifrån pekar på att det finns faktorer där man finner gemensamma åsikter som informanterna har. Bland annat menar informanterna att det finns brister som berör både tiden såväl som personal.  Vidare säger informanterna att samarbetet är bra, men att det ibland kan förekomma konflikter. Många av informanterna påpekar om ensamheten och menar att det kan drabba en när man blir äldre. Personlig utveckling innebär att jobba med människor, och på det sättet ger det en erfarenhet säger en av informanterna, medan en annan anser att flexibilitet är en viktig egenskap, en annan talar om delaktighet.

Författarna till detta arbete fick en förfrågan från den pedagogiska utvecklaren på Storvreta förskoleenhet om att förverkliga ett utav Uppsala kommuns sju rumskoncept. Rumskoncepten är ett led i Uppsala kommuns strävan efter att skapa så likvärdig utbildning som möjligt på alla kommunala förskolor. Denna rapport beskriver den process som författarna genomgick i skapandet av en utforskande sandmiljö inomhus på en förskola. I skapandet av den upplevelseprototyp som placerades på den aktuella förskolan utgick författarna dels ifrån Ett förståelsefördjupande dokument om lärmiljöer, men även från de tankar och idéer som Uppdragsgivare och Användare framförde. Det arbetssätt som författarna valde att använda för att utveckla prototypen var en Human-Centered design.

The paper, with a brief summary of timber floating in Sweden and also of some previous re-search in this field, contains a study on costs for timber-floating in the river Dalälven located in central Sweden. The public used timber-floating system in Dalälven and the historical background about this activity is described. The study is focused on the total costs for timber-floating in the public open floating system in Dalälven from 1900 to 1970, the year before the timber-floating was definitively closed down. Also the costs for separating the logs of a specific owner when they reached the point where they could be separated from the timber of other owners are analyzed..

This paper analyses the existence and nature of the sacred landscape Olands härad during the Bronze Age and Iron Age. Olands härad is located in Northern Uppland, onthe way to Östhammar, about 30 km northeast of Uppsala. The interpretations are done with help of place names studies as well as archaeological finds. There exists a great need among companies and other organizations to be able to visualize statistics. It?s also increasingly common to ask for web-based solutions for increased flexibility and accessibility for users. This paper describes how large amounts of geovisual data, for a large number of regions, can be visualized in an interactive and well-presented manner. The paper let?s you walk through two application scenarios, developed in a Flash environment, using the GeoViz component library for visualization. The first application has been developed for Statistics Sweden (SCB), to give a solution on how to visualize statistics for Sweden?s zip code regions.

In 1809 the citizens of Sweden where given the freedom to practice their Christian faith through the Swedish constitution of 1809, 16 §. This proclaimed that there should be religious freedom in Sweden, albeit restricted to Evangelical-Lutheran faith. Although after the law regarding dissenters was passed in 1860 by choosing another church than the Evangelical-Lutheran church you lost some civic rights, for example you could not become a public official. The freedom to choose religious affiliation was given through the Law of Religious Freedom in 1951. The purpose of this study is to evaluate in what way the concept of religious freedom has developed in Swedish law between 1809 and 1951.In the background I treat two historical events and one era, with focus upon religious freedom, which have in my opinion influenced the view of religious freedom in Sweden during the chosen period of 1809?1951.

Syfte: Att utforska studenters upplevelse av sjuksköterskeutbildningen i Uppsala ur ett genuspesrpektiv.METOD: Vald forskningsmetod var en kvalitativ metod med fokusgruppsintervju samt semistrukturerade enskilda intervjuer. Resultat: Deltagarna i studien ansåg att sjuksköterskeutbildningen är könsstereotyp. Sjuksköterskan var en kvinna med stereotypt kvinnliga egenskaper. Informanterna upplevde att bilden av sjuksköterskan var svår att leva upp till, då de inte kunde relatera och känna igen sig själva i bilden som målats upp. Sjuksköterskestudenter som bryter mot könsnormen på utbildningen upplevde detta som mycket påtagligt och frustrerande. Andra vårdyrken upplevdes inte lika tydligt könspräglade som sjuksköterskan även om hierarkin ansågs vara mycket tydlig och frustrerande.

According to the directives of Lgr11, learning about Christianity should be an important part of religious education in secondary school (7th-9th grade) in Sweden. A school teacher must therefore have good knowledge of the field and of different aspects of the beliefs of the various Christian traditions.This essay is about how salvation is conceived of by two members of the laity in each of three different Christian traditions: the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of Sweden (which is Lutheran). As a theoretical perspective for my analysis, I have chosen the official views of salvation of these three churches. That is to say, views of the members of the laity have been compared with the official views of the respective churches. It is thus a very limited qualitative study aiming at finding out how the views of the laity conform to the official creed concerning salvation and whether there are any differences here between the churches.

Den dokumenterade nyttan med att undervisa på ett varierat vis har gjort att Uppsala universitet vill ge sina hydrologistudenter möjlighet till mera fältarbete. Detta skall göras genom att installera grundvattenrör i vilka grundvattnets nivå samt kemiska sammansättning kommer att undersökas. Detta ställer krav på att området där rören installeras har en sådan geologi och topografi så att fältarbetet blir givande. Därför eftersöks områden med egenskaper som ger variationer mellan rören. Variationer i grundvattennivå förväntas främst uppkomma av olika lagerföljder eller en lutande markyta.

This paper presents an analysis of history textbooks used in schools in Sweden and Norway. The intention of the research was to study how the history textbooks describe communism and communistic dictatorship mainly during the cold war. The result of this study is that there were no big differences between Swedish and Norwegian history textbooks, but there are, however, some differences in how communism was described between the authors and also over time. Mostly, the books that were written in the post cold war period were somewhat more critical to communism in the eastern Europe (even thought they mainly handled with Stalin´s communism. And they also set quotationmark between Stalin´s communism and the nazi terror during World War two..
