Acute bacterial prostatitis is a common disease in older male dogs. It gives symptoms such as fever, pain, tiredness, infertility, unwillingness to mate and sometimes symptoms from the urinary tract. It is common that you do an ultrasound exam on dogs when you suspect prostatic changes. In this study 15 dogs diagnosed with acute prostatitis at the small animal clinic at SLU in Uppsala were examined. The clinical signs and the ultrasound pictures were put together in retrospect.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att undersöka upplevelser av vårdsituationer hos par diagnostiserade med ofrivillig barnlöshet, och hur sjukvårdspersonal upplevde att bedriva denna vård. Studien sammanställdes under 10 veckor under vårterminen 2012 och har en kvalitativ-deskriptiv design. Upprepade sökningar i databaserna CINAHL och Pubmed kombinerades med sökning av annan litteratur såsom böcker. Artiklarna som påträffades i databaserna granskades utifrån kriterier som publikationsdatum och språk. Huvudresultatet i studien visade att sjukvårdspersonal innehar en unik position för att skapa en tillfredsställande kontakt mellan dem själva och patienterna, och att stödja patienterna under behandlingen.

Bakgrund: Enligt Socialstyrelsen drabbar ofrivillig barnlöshet omkring 10-15 % av alla par i Sverige. Vanliga orsaker till infertilitet kan vara skador på äggledarna eller för lågt antal spermier.  Kvinnor och män kan reagera olika på beskedet kring infertilitet. Det är viktigt som sjuksköterska att ha förståelse för hur kvinnor och män upplever problemet. Syfte: Att belysa kvinnor och mäns upplevelser av ofrivillig barnlöshet. Metod: I litteraturstudien har nio kvalitativa artiklar granskats och analyserats.

In this essay I examine the auto fictive self in Jeanette Wintersons Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. I do this through a close reading of the novel using Mieke Bals narratological terms;narrator, story, fabula, time and order. These narratological terms have been merged together with central themes of the book. I look at the readers understanding of the novel, the relation between fairytale and realism, symbols, intertextuality, the mother-daughter relationship and silences and I analyze these themes in their relation to autofiction and the auto fictive self.  Gemma Lopez Seductions and Narratives has been a key reference, mainly her theories on self-creation in narratives, and the construction of the self, trough language. The narrative is the place where the self can transgress and reshape, which gives the narrative a subversive power. I analyze this presumed power, and look at how the story shapes an opportunity for the subject to see itself.

Involuntary childlessness is a big problem around the world. One way to solve the problem is to receive oocytes or semen from a donor. In Sweden, semen donation has been regulated by law since 1985 and oocyte donation since 2003. The aim of this study was to investigate what motivations women and men in Sweden have to donate gametes, if they feel any ambivalence to donate, and to compare if there is any difference in motivation and ambivalence between women and men. Motivation was measured with eight statements based on previous results and clinical experience.

Introduktion. Endometrios är en inflammatorisk, kronisk östrogenberoende sjukdom i endometriet. Symtom kan vara smärta, dysparenui, infertilitet och minskad prestationsförmåga på grund av tröttheten. Det är svårt att ställa diagnos då endometrios kan vara svårupptäckt på grund av ospecifika symtomen. Syfte.

Infertilitet är en utbredd problematik som drabbar många par världen över. Olika behandlingsformer finns att tillgå för att hjälpa infertila par att uppnå en graviditet. IVF-behandling är en vanlig behandlingsform. Många studier visar att IVF-behandling påverkar kvinnan mer än mannen psykiskt. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva hur kvinnor upplever processen att genomgå IVF-behandling.

Celiaki är en kronisk autoimmun överkänslighetssjukdom mot proteinet gluten. Gluten förekommer i vete, korn, råg och havre. Sädesslagen innehåller olika prolaminer, vilka gemensamt benämns för gliadin. Autoantigenet utgörs av enzymet vävnadstransglutaminas (tTG). Genom deamidering medför enzymet att gliadinets immunogenitet ökar.

Av par i fertil ålder som aktivt försöker få barn är det 10-15 procent som inte lyckas inom ett år och räknas då till kategorin ofrivilligt barnlösa. Att drabbas av ofrivillig barnlöshet innebär stor sorg och prövning för det drabbade paret. Med hjälp av assisterad befruktning kan parets möjligheter till graviditet öka. En IVF-process innebär psykisk och fysisk påfrestning, vilket ställer stora krav på vårdens bemötande, kompetens och stöd. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka hur par som genomgår IVF-behandling upplever vårdens bemötande samt om och i så fall hur parets relation påverkats under och efter IVF-processen.

Hemp is an annual energy crop that fits very well in Swedish crop rotations. It is an interesting crop with many benefits, for example its ability to establish a large quantity of biomass in one year. Hemp is easy to grow and out-competes unwanted weeds through its aggressive growth pattern without the need for pesticides. Interest in growing hemp and other energy crops is currently decreasing, apparently because of high grain prices. These high prices give a higher net profit that we believe could partly cover the cost of hemp cultivation, while the hemp in turn would improve the crop rotation and thus repay its debts in the form of increased yields of other crops. The great disadvantage of hemp is the lack of knowledge about spring harvest of the crop.

Bakgrund: Livmodertransplantation ?r en behandling mot ofrivillig barnl?shet som beforskats vid bland annat Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset de senaste decennierna. Absolute Uterine Factor Infertility (AUFI) inneb?r en avsaknad av livmoder. Livmodertransplantation inneb?r att kvinnor som lider av absolut infertilitet f?r en m?jlighet att motta en livmoder fr?n en donator f?r att kunna b?ra och f?da sina egna barn. Tidigare har det inte funnits n?gra behandlingar mot denna typ av infertilitet och d?rf?r har adoption eller surrogatmoderskap varit de enda alternativen f?r dessa kvinnor. Livmodertransplantation ?r fortfarande i forskningsstadiet i Sverige men kommer med stor sannolikhet att erbjudas som behandling inom snar framtid.

This study is based on how politicians? standars were represented in the debate about assisted reproduction of single women and surrogacy in Sweden. And also which arguments the politicians performed on both issues. The study was based on the protocol 2011/12:91 from the parliamentary debate in Sweden. The aim of the study was to examine political standards is identified according to parenting and family in the assisted reproduction and surrogacy debate.

The aim with the literature study is to inform about the risks that exists in large dairy farms(with focus on mastitis and hoof health) and to inform about the milk industry in Sweden.Personal comments from two study visits (Nötcenter Viken and Vadsbo Mjölk AB) arelinked together with the literature and forms into a discussion regarding sustainableagriculture versus the milk cow's welfare.The profitability for Sweden's milk farmers have decreased because of the decreased milkprice and current inflation. This leads to an increase in herdsize in order to make a profit.The milk cow herds in Sweden becomes fewer year by year and the herdsize increases. Theincreased herdsize can cause a decrease in the time the farmer spends per animal. This canaffect early disease detection and prolong the animals suffering.Swedish Board of Agriculture published (2008) statistics showing that today's milk cow ismedicated primarily because of two reasons; mastitis or hoof problems. Mastitis is thereason to two thirds of all treatments that are carried out.

This article presents a survey of male dogs treated with the gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist deslorelin (Suprelorin®, Virbac) at three animal clinics in central Sweden. Filled-in questionnaires from 110 dogs were received. The paper also includes a review of existing litterature concerning reproduction in male dogs, focusing on endocrinology, the effects of gonadectomy and the GnRH agonist deslorelin. Continuous treatment with deslorelin produces infertility in male dogs. The pituitary is initially stimulated by deslorelin leading to a rise in luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion. As a consequence the testosterone levels also increase temporarily.
