Nynas produces bitumen at two refineries in Sweden. The bitumen is shipped to seven depots along the swedish coast line, and from the depots special Trucks handle the transportation to customers. Recently Nynas has transformed its supply chain and closed down a few depots. At the moment the company is considering a further reduction of the number of depots. In connection to these discussions an analyse of the companys distributionsystem and of possible changes is required.

Emhart Glass is the world?s leading manufacturer of equipment, controls and components to the glass container industry. The goal of this project has been to identify improvements and propose cost saving solutions when moving one of Emhart Glass work cells in Sundsvall. The changes shall result in improved work environment and increased product quality. The method contains value stream mapping, concept selection and P-FMEA and complies with Emhart Glass goal to become a more Lean focused business.

Transportation represents 10-15 % of wood supply costs. It is therefore important to improve efficiency in the transport system to decrease these costs. The aim of this study is to map the timber vehicle routing processes used by a sample of timber hauling contractors and to identify possible links between the vehicle routing process and service and economic variables. The study was carried out at Södra Skog in autumn 2008. 15 timber hauling contractors were sampled and interviewed about their work with timber transports.

The market for biofuels from the forests have had a positive development and the job initiators for this master´s thesis wanted to examine the profitability of a method for harvesting forest fuel, which was unfamiliar to them. The method was the ?long tree tops-method?, here called the LT-method. The LT-method is characterised by the fact that timber is harvested as the only roundwood assortment while the rest of the stem, which in other cases would become pulpwood, is harvested as forest fuel together with the logging residues. The method is based on the assumption that advantages in handling of the forest fuel assortment such as increased load weights for forest hauling and Truck transportation, should compensate for the lower price for pulpwood when sold as forest fuel. The aim of the study was to compare the profitability of the LT-method with the GROT-method (harvest of timber, pulpwood and logging residues) and conventional logging without any harvest of forest fuel, and aslo to try to identify factors affecting the profitability of the different methods.

I?ve tried to find the most effective and cost effective way to harvest straw for energy recovery.You can choose between round bales and big square bales. Square bales are the cheapest way to produce straw for fuel recovery because you can optimize the length of the bales so they fit the transportation equipment.In the Malmö area the average days of harvesting hay is 55. The effectively of transportation depends mostly of the speed, the distance and density of the bales. To increase the capacity of bale transportation larger loads and higher density of the bales is necessary.

Livsmedelsdistributören Dagab håller på att lägga om sin leveransstruktur för sina olika lager i Sverige. Omläggningen leder till att en annan typ av varor kommer att hanteras och förmodligen kommer de nya varorna kräva större yta då de ställs upp inför leverans. Dagab har bett oss att undersöka om det går att effektivisera flödet av pallarna på lagret i Jordbro. Då vi ansåg att simulering skulle vara ett bra verktyg för att undersöka detta bestämde vi oss för att i rikta in examensarbetet mot att bygga en simuleringsmodell. Genom att införa förändringar i en modell istället för i ett verkligt system kan konsekvenser och tendenser undersökas i modellen istället för i ett riktigt system.

SAMMANFATTNING Uppskattningsvis transporteras 171 miljoner grisar inom EU varje år, varav ca 3,5 miljoner i Sverige. Grisarna kommer, under hela förloppet från förflyttningen från box i stallet till bedövningen i slakteriet, att utsättas för stressande moment. Orsakerna är bland annat omgrupperingar, nya miljöer, vibrationer i bilen samt, speciellt under sommaren, värmestress. Temperaturen i djurtransportbilen är en nyckelfaktor som dessutom kan förstärka effekten av andra stressorer. Lastning i höga temperaturer ökar risken för värmestress. Värmestress innebär att djuren får allt svårare att avge sin värme. Även den relativa luftfuktigheten har betydelse, framförallt vid temperaturer över 30°C. Det är ventilationen i transportbilen som ska transportera bort värme och fukt från bilen.

There are several energy systems in the Swedish society and to ensure the comfort and health of the citizens it is of importance that the different energy systems are functioning properly. District heating is one of these energy systems and many household depend only on district heating to warm up their homes. District heating is dependent on several processes where every step needs to function in order to deliver the produced heat to the end consumer. Previous studies have investigated the distribution of district heating and how to make customers choose district heating as their heating method. The supply of fuel to the district heating plant has not been studied as much, even though it is an important part of the whole system. This thesis is a part of the project NORD-STAR (Nordic Strategic Adaption Research), which has focused on climate adaption in the Nordic countries.

Stena Recycling AB använder sig i dagsläget av både externa lastbils- och interna tågtransporter i Norrland för att frakta material söderut. Företagets vision är att minska andelen lastbilar till förmån för tågen både av kostnads-, konkurrens- och miljöskäl. Studien har genomförts eftersom tågen nu utnyttjas till 90 procent och företaget vill använda dess maximala kapacitet. Det material som är tänkt att fraktas med det lediga tågutrymmet går i dagsläget med externa lastbilstransporter. Det är ur ett helhetsperspektiv vi vill undersöka lönsamheten samt kartlägga tänkbara problem som Stena Recycling AB står inför, när de vill överföra delar av sina vägtransporter till en intermodal lösning.

På Volvo Pentas Varafabrik planerades det för att bygga om sitt måleri. I ombyggnadsskedet behövdes mera yta för att kunna hålla produktionen igång. Därför skulle avdelningen Påspacken flyttas till en annan plats i fabriken. Syftet med studien var att planera denna flytt och försöka effektivisera arbetet. Då den nya ytan var mindre krävdes det att arbetsplatserna och den totala layouten komprimerades.

Examensarbetet har gjorts åt Höglunds flak i Säffle och behandlar en ny framstam till timmerlastbilar.En framstam är ett lastskydd som förhindrar stockarna på en timmerlastbil från att tränga in i hytten vid en kollision. Framstammen används även vid lastning som ett mothåll att slå stockarna emot.Kraven på framstammen från företaget är? Lättare konstruktion? Samma utböjning vid slagprov, ytbelastning och böjbelastningsprovning som nuvarande modell? Billigare eller samma pris som föregående modell? Klara proven enligt SS 2563, SS 2564? Vara estetiskt tilltalande för kund? Anpassningsbar höjd? Om möjligt få så mycket tillverkning som möjligt till den egna verkstadenArbetet delades in i två delar där en del är att konstruera plåten och hur denna skall styvas till. Den andra är att konstruera staken som håller upp plåten och tar den största delen av slagkraften.På framstamsplåten togs det fram 2 koncept.Bockningskonceptet.Konceptet består av en aluminiumplåt 6082-T6 som bockats till en L-profil runt kanterna för att styva upp plåtenFyrkantsprofil.Detta koncept består av en fyrkantsprofil i aluminium som nitas fast mot plåten.På staken togs det fram tre koncept. Alla tre är beräknade med att vara i samma material ett höghållfast stål vid namn Domex 650 med en sträckgräns på ca 650Mpa.[5]JL-profilenÄr en profil som är lätt att tillverka genom bockning och är lätt att fästa in i både plåten och i rambalken.I-profilenI-balken är gjord med en större fläns mot plåten för att underlätta vid infästning och en mindre fläns på andra sidan för att minska vikten.
