This essay focuses on the function and development of city harbors during the middle ages in the Scanian part of Öresund. The purpose of the survey is to take a closer look at topography, development and activities on the shores in three coastal cities along the west coast of Scania. The cities that has been part of the survey are: Skanör ? Falsterbo, Malmoe and Landskrona, three cities that follows each other chronologically and that show both similarities and differences in appearance, function and urbanization.The cities of Skanör ? Falsterbo and Malmoe were important market places for the medieval Scania market with the herring fishery in focus. The cities? birth has to be looked upon in relation to these activities.

This paper examines the power producing dams along the Ume-river as an integral part of and a result from the urbanization process in Sweden during industrial capitalism. The aim of the paper is to contribute to the knowledge of the urbanization process in Sweden in general and of its traces along the Ume river in the county of Västerbotten in particular. The paper applies the theory of concentrated urbanization and extended urbanization put forward by Neil Brenner and Christian Schmid (2015) and argues that the building of power producing dams along the Ume-river is part of an extended urbanization process. This becomes particularly evident when examining the vast physical structures that is the dams, situated in an otherwise remote and sparsely populated area. These vast physical structures are also very well connected to a nation wide electric grid that has connections to bordering countries as well.

During our education to become lighting designers at Jönköping University, the artificial lighting has been in focus. Therefore we wanted to learn more about daylight. We chose to do this from a visual approach in open plan offices. Since daylight is part of the architects´ responsibility to master, we wanted to examine what architects think of when they plan daylight environments in open plan offices and how this is expressed in the buildings with focus on the visual factors.Our questions at issue are:What knowledge do architects have concerning daylight planning, and how do they use this knowledge in their practice?How well do the chosen daylight environments meet the end-users need of a good visual environment? The study consists of three case studies, carried out in the same way.

Studien undersöker 56 journaler från ensamkommandeflyktingbarn som besökt Flyktingbarnteamet i Göteborg. Syftet var att samlakunskap om gruppen ensamkommande flyktingbarn och deras möte med ensvensk sjukvårdsinrättning. Bakgrundsinformation om barnen ochinformation om insatser som getts på Flyktingbarnteamet presenteras.Barnens hjälpbehov, som det beskrivits av remittenter och av behandlare påFlyktingbarnteamet, analyserades med kvalitativ tematisk analys. Resultatetvisade att barnen har ett brett hjälpbehov med posttraumatisk stress, andraångesttillstånd, depression och somatiska besvär men även problemkopplade till vardagen i Sverige som ensamhetskänslor och grubblerier omframtiden. Omkring var tredje barn bedömdes någon gång ha mått så dåligtatt det hade svårt för att berätta om sina problem för behandlaren.

How does the criticism of landscape architecture in Swedish professional journals look today? Does it exist at all? What is criticism and what is its purpose? These questions have been the starting point for this degree project. I have found a lot of different answers among journals, books and websites, as well as in interviews with five persons that all have a relation to the landscape architecture criticism in different ways. These answers may look a bit disjointed at first, but are at a closer examination pointing in the same direction ? that the criticism of landscape architecture projects hardly exists today.

The use of earth bricks in Scanian building traditionThe present work is concerned with the manufacturing and use of earth bricks inbuilt heritage in the south Swedish province of Scania. The first part of the studyprovides a thorough description of the traditional use and manufacturing of earthbricks based on relevant literature, archive material as well as interviews withinformants. This forms a basis for the second part of the study in which practicalexperiments on and tests with earth bricks where carried out. This involved themaking of traditional earth bricks of different composition. The new handmadebricks were compared with industrially produced bricks (extrusion bricks) and oldhandmade bricks.

The wastewater treatment plant at GE Healthcare's facility in Uppsala deployed a three step vacuum evaporator in 2007. The purpose of this was to pre-treat wastewater containing amines. The purpose of this thesis was to optimize thisprocess by reducing the amount of concentrate without releasing more nitrogen tothe environment and to examine if density could be used as a measurement of whenthe process should be ended.To create a foundation for optimization six test cycles were conducted with samples taken from all three steps. Both concentrate and condensate were tested as well as the incoming solution. Furthermore, the thesis has been expanded with a benchmarking part examining two different evaporators.

Master thesis work at ITN (Department of Science and Technology) in the areas of A/D-construction and RF-circuit design. Major goal of project were to research suitable possibilities for implementations of direct conversion in transceivers operating in the 160MHz band, theoretic study followed by development of components in the construction environment Cadence. Suitable A/D- converter and other important parts were selected at the end of the theoretic study. Subsampling technique was applied to make A/D sample requirements more realistic to achieve. Besides lowering requirements on A/D-converter it allows a more simple construction, which saves more components than subsampling adds.

The aim of this study was to find possible relations between behaviour and physiology for puppies during different parts of a puppy test. This work deals mainly with the physiological part of the study. Thirtysix puppies, från five litters, were tested in a behaviour test where heart rate was measured and saliva samples were collected before and after each part in the test. Saliva and urine samples were analyzed for corisol concentration as an indicatior of stress. The tests were performed during two consecutive days in the breeders' home when the puppies were seven weeks old. In addition, heart rate and cortisol levels were also measured in the bitch since we were interested in finding out if there were any relations between physiological levels in bitches and puppies.

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att med utgångspunkter i forskning om läsförståelse samt receptionsteorier studera tre aktuella barnböcker för att se om och hur de ger läsaren möjlighet till textrörlighet genom att erbjuda plats att fylla i tomrum och oklarheter, och om de därigenom ger läsaren stöd i sin utveckling av läsförståelse. Man kan se studien som ett sätt att skapa sig en uppfattning om en bok utifrån en aspekt på att utveckla och stödja läsförståelse. Böckerna har analyserats med avseende på textens beskrivningar av personer, miljö och händelser, samt textens temporalitet och sätt att berätta. Resultatet visar att två av böckerna kan betraktas som stödjande i läsares utveckling av läsförståelse, medan den tredje uppvisar oklarheter som är svårlösta och kan därför ifrågasättas i det hänseendet..

AbstractThe aim of this study is to examine how individuals, part of a rural Christian parish,express their religiosity and beliefs in a Swedish context. Furthermore this study seeksto understand these religious expressions through different views on social construction,secularization and the privatization perspective, such as lived religion, in particular. Byusing qualitative interviews with 8 individuals analyzed with the theories mentionedabove my results show that secularization has provided many individuals with aChristian identity, however, not necessarily a Christian faith. Instead several of theparticipants show a self-developed religious expression not automatically connectedwith Christian religious practices. One of the participants has, despite a Christiansocialization, developed a non-religious identity.

Kolorektalcancer är den tredje vanligaste cancerformen i Sverige. Att kosthållning har en betydelse för utvecklandet av denna sjukdoms uppkomst har under lång tid studerats. Att undervisa och stödja patienter är en viktig del av sjuksköterskans yrke. I bakgrunden presenters de vanligaste kostkomponenternas betydelse för vår hälsa. Med tanke på det ansvar sjuksköterskor har utvecklades syftet som med denna litteraturstudie var att studera och kartlägga samband mellan kost och kolorektalcancer.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att diskutera om EU kan, vid ingående av bilaterala avtal med icke unions medlemmar, förbise sina grundläggande principer. Situationen i Schweiz tydliggör problematiken och genom att applicera frågeställningen på det aktuella problemet eftersträvas ett djupare resonemang. Syftet med uppsatsen är även att föra en diskussion kring den framtida relationen mellan EU och Schweiz.De frågeställningar som ska utredas för att uppnå syftet med uppsatsen är således; kan EU agera i strid med en av de fundamentala värdegrunderna som EU-samarbetet bygger på, den fria rörligheten, i avtalsrelationer med tredje länder? Vilken intresseavvägning står EU inför angående den gällande situationen i Schweiz, och vilket är det mest troliga framtida handlingsalternativet för EU?.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the meaning the reading group of the public library has to a number of users. To fulfill the aim the following three questions have been formulated: 1) What do a number of users expect from the reading group of the public library? 2) Which approach/attitude or approaches/attitudes do a number of users have to reading and to talking about reading? 3) How do a number of users experience the ongoing reading group?The research is founded on qualitative interviews with five users that take part in three different reading groups in public libraries. The theories that are used is the theory of three so called strategies - the pragmatic, the traditionalistic, the emancipatory ? and the theory of flow.

The aim of this study was to develop a load prognosis model for Uppsala district heating system to be used as a tool for heat production optimization. The methodwas to build three models for the different customer types; housing, industry andoffices and then scale them for the total system using data from Uppsala districtheating system. The heat load consists of two parts, one that is temperaturedependent and one that is dependent of the social behavior of the customers. Thetemperature part was modelled with an ARX model using an outdoor temperatureprognosis as input signal. The social behavior part was modelled using the mean ofthe social behavior from some days before and additionally by distinguishing betweenweekdays and weekends.
